Summary: Outstanding in its informative detail
Review: As a reference work for a museum professional, such as myself, this book is of huge value in its magnificent dissections, clear layout, and consistently fine photography. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to probe deeper into the wonder and detail of the human body; with or without access to a dissection lab. As a resource for sculptural anatomy or medical illustraion, it is tops.

Summary: Excellent text for the serious anatomy student!
Review: Color Atlas of Human Anatomy is a color pictorial of human cadaver disections. The authors have also included drawings, radiographs, CT scans, and MRI's where useful. The authors have done a superb job in preparing this text. I have never found a text that depicts anatomical structures from so many angles and planes. This would be a marvelous reference for students who do not have access to medical cadavers, but need knowledge of precise anatomical structures. Well worth the price.

Summary: Excellent Anatomic Topography !
Review: Descriptive human anatomy is infamously difficult. This book makes it is much easier to conceptualize human anatomy in 3-dimension as well as topographically. The superb, precise dissecion of cadavers provides clarity as to how anatomical structures relate. The photographs are of excellent quality with nonintrusive lines and numbers to easily identify each anatomical part. One gets a realistic experience of human anatomy in its true physical form and spatial dimension. This is an excellent book for those who are visual learners as well as those who desire a deeper understanding of human anatomy.

Summary: As an artist,
Review: I also find the Color Atlas of Anatomy indispensible! Many artist's anatomy books left me confused as to muscle placements and shapes, what shows through on the outermost layer and what is deep and hidden, or basic structure that is VITAL to any figure drawing. This book leaves no questions. No interpretive drawings of muscle placement, actual photos from dissections! No mistaking about it there! And for anyone who is questioning buying it because of the price, bear in mind the following: It is almost 500 pages of full color photographs, more in depth than you will ever believe until you see it yourself, hardcover, and printed entirely on thick glossy stock paper. I can't give it enough thumbs up! :)

Summary: Excellent and Precise
Review: I am a dental student and at my school the Descriptive Anatomy course is infamously difficult. This book has made it much easier to conceptualize human anatomy in 3-dimension as well as demonstrate how each part relates to one another, by region and layer-by-layer. The cadavers have been dissected with superb precision, which provides clarity as to how all of the anatomical structures relate. The photographs are of excellent quality with nonintrusive lines and numbers to easily identify each anatomical part. You get a realistic experience of human anatomy in its true physical form and spatial dimension. This is an excellent book for those who are visual learners as well as those who desire a deeper understanding of human anatomy.

Summary: Anatomy Lab on the top of your desk; virtual home dissection
Review: I am a medical student from Texas A&M USHSC COM and this is the most valuable book I have owned thus far. This masterpiece of photographic wizardry accurately depicts the in-depth dissection of the human body with extreme clarity. The best way to use this atlas is in conjunction with your anatomy text (like Moore) and along with a color illustrated atlas (like Netter). However, I also suggest that medical students use Rohen to graphically dissect, using their dissector (like Grant's) and class handouts, every night before lab. You will find that you are a master of the material and your in-lab dissection will be one of the best. This process yielded excellent results, including a 1/4 reduction in overall lab time. Anatomy is still one of the most important subjects. Even in the clinical years, those students with a unique grasp of this subject will surpass their peers. This book is a worthy investment for all medical students.
