Summary: Enter the "Treehouse Zone"!
Review: Buy this book and build a really great treehouse. I built a super-cool "one tree" treehouse last summer using this book and not only did I find it extraordinarily instructive on the actual "how to," I also found myself drawn into what I came to call the "treehouse zone" that David and Jeanie Stiles create. This book has several great plans that you can easily adapt to your own tree, plus tons of wonderful "extras" that put it over the top. This summer I put on a second storey, though I didn't have the book available; I was able to go on what I had built before under it's guidance. Please, come join me in the Treehouse Zone.

Summary: The Best of the Best!
Review: By far, the Stiles' books are the best. I'm building a treehouse right now for my son. Following guidelines in this book, I'm certain that we will enjoy it for years to come.

Review: I found myself a bit down on my luck after the dot-com bubble burst. I came across this book and bought it using my last few dollars. By following the simple directions contained therein, I managed to build a magnificent tree house in a very sturdy elm in a nice, quiet neighborhood. Unfortunately, I was evicted for "trespassing" soon after moving in. My only complaint regarding this book is that it gives short shrift to tree house zoning laws in the US.

Summary: You can do it, too.
Review: I have no construction background whatsoever, but after reading this book I was able to build a very nice treehouse for my kids. My only negative observation of this book is that occasionally the artist's renderings fail to accurately show how treehouse features would be sructurally implemented (ie. a roof support post coming out of the middle of the the treehouse floor, but no apparent structure under the floor to attach it to). Besides an occasional artistic oversight, I thought the book was well worth the price. Give it a try. You can do it, too.

Summary: Excellent Information on building a Basic Treehouse
Review: I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants a step-by-step plan to building a basic treehouse and many fun additions on to the treehouse such as crows nests, rope ladders, pulleys, telephones, furniture and more. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. If you want to build a more complicated treehouse(for example a treehouse with electrical outlets or more than 2 rooms) this book most likely isn't for you. For people who just want to browse pictures of amazing treehouses around the world I suggest Peter Nelson's Treehouses: The Art and Craft of Living out on A Limb.

Summary: Very Useful Book
Review: I used the ideas and illustrations in this book to build my daughter a treehouse in our backyard. Although I used my own design, I used many of the tips for tree connections, platform supports, and other information the Stiles provide in their book. It is evident they have a real love for their subject. Since I have a lot more trees on the property, we have plans to continue expanding the treehouse complex. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for treehouse and accessory ideas.

Summary: Critical resource for the first-time builder
Review: I used this book to build a great tree house. I found the line drawings to be much more useful than the photographs in the other 3 tree house books I bought. The drawings offer advice for beginners (including don't saw the branch you are sitting on) that seem frivolous till you start working in the tree. The book gives a few plans, and though none would quite work in my tree, I was able to combine ideas from all of them.

Summary: Tree Houses: You Can Actually Build
Review: I was expecting plans for tree houses. This book gives one example of a few types and the plans are not specific enough.
