Summary: Major Disappointment!
Review: First I should say that the first two books in the Rich Dad series were excellent -- "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" and "Cashflow Quadrant". Unfortunately, Loopholes of the Rich is a real time waster. This book is made excruciatingly BORING by long, tedious conversations with a fictitious couple, Ted and Ellen. Bright readers just want the core information - they don't want to sit through long, tired, padded material. Unfortuantely, after suffering through this sophmoric effort, the kernels of truly useful information are far and few between and no different than can be found in any of a number of other books dealing with taxes and incorporating. Suggestion: Read the first two Rich Dad books, skip this one - it's a bore.

Summary: Too much fluff & bad advice on MLMs
Review: First on the fluff:

Ted and Ellen "story" adds about 40 pages of fluff just to give you a narrative of introducing time elements and slides detailing the pictures she is telling. 40 extra pages for this purpose is bad. Save the 40 pages and we'd have a thinner, more "manual" approach.

Now on the MLMs:

What she doesn't tell you:

a) 98% of MLM participants fail (e.g., lose money)
b) Some of the people "telling you you can't do it" might be right!

She goes into the whole spiel about how if they haven't tried it, don't listen to them. Well, take it from every person whose been victimized by MLMs....they DO NOT WORK!

c) All the examples in the appendix of people she's helped use "MLM Opportunity". She purposely uses "opportunity" when sane people would say "Scheme".

Now then, other than those 2 issues, it's a fine review of business structures: S-Corp, C-Corp, Limited and General Partnerships, and Sole Props (to a degree LLCs as well). But you can search google.com and find this all out.

C-Corp: don't hold assets as personal suits can get at C-Corp assets...so she wants you to make the C-Corp a limited partner in a partnership....this is all over the internet..you don't need the book for that.

Be fair to yourself...try looking up MLM or Multi Level Marketing on the internet before buying this book.

Summary: Loopholes of the Rich: How the Rich Legally Make More Money
Review: Having just started my own small business, this book really provided the insight and perpective I needed on ways to structure my enterprise.

What particularly appealed to me was Diane's style and approach. Too many books of this nature don't create a comfortable and readable format that makes intimidating information like this understandable and easy to digest.

Her five steps to financial freedom helped define for me what income is, how to create a good team to position myself for success, and the best ways to evaluate the progress.

Same with the 3-step tax code, which sums up the reams of government-speak tax laws on regulations, rulings and procedures.

The book is a great compliment to the Rich Dad series. Kiyosaki walks the talk by having Diane on his team.

Summary: Don't Waste Your Money on This Book
Review: I am a single mom that does financial planning. I, thus, read a number of tax and financial books.

"Loopholes of the Rich" may well be the worst tax book that I have read. How anyone could have rated this book as top notch is beyond me. They must not have read the book thoroughly of just are not tax savvy. This book is very muddled, not well written and confusing. It also has some outright wrong information. Moreover, ..., there are few,if any, loopholes for the rich.

Summary: Not only the rich pay less in taxes!
Review: I am continually amused when I hear people say that only the Rich get the tax breaks and the poor and the middle class have to "pick up the slack."The fact is, if you are paying too much in taxes, whose fault is it? In this outstanding work, Lechter and Kiyosaki lay out numerous strategies to substantially reduce your taxes. And by the way, reducing taxes is not only morally and ethically right, it is also smart. The biggest expence we pay is taxes. Use this book to plug up the dike on excess tax spending.Other books I recommend are More Wealth Without Risk, Brilliant Deductions and How to Pay Zero Taxes in 2003.

Summary: Things they didn't teach you in school
Review: I have a friend that is working on his MBA. I, on the other hand, have yet to finish a degree.

The difference, I think, is in our thought process. He wants to climb the corporate ladder. He wants to make a difference in the company he works for. I want to OWN the ladder. I care about the company that I work for, I just care MORE about my companies.

If you want to OWN the ladder, this is a great book for pointing you in the right direction. You will not be ready to take the bull by the tail, but you will know what steps you need to take.

Educate yourself! They just don't teach this in school! Even my friend who's working on his MBA isn't learning this.

You must understand that this one book DOES NOT HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS. Use it as a compass -> get pointed in the right direction and keep up the education.

Summary: A must read!
Review: I have been on the lookout for this exact book for about a year now. Nothing I have read so far compares to the information in this book, condensed in just short of 400 pages. I thank Diane for writing her book, her suggestions and techniques are definately making my life so much easier.

Summary: Informative yet Easily Readable
Review: I started out my career as a highly compensated employee, but discovered that I was working at building a business for other people. I was also in a field (micro-electronics) that had a lot of highs and lows and I had gotten caught in a few lay-offs throughout the years. I made the decision to start building my own business. I was fortunate to find DKA (Diane's CPA firm) and they were able to help me restructure my rental properties into a real business and take advantage of many of the loopholes described in this book. I think the timing for this book is excellent as we see more and more lay-offs happening in businesses. It's no coincidence that there is a huge upsurgence in small and home based businesses at the same time. But, most small business owners are never taught how to take advantage of their businesses plus what it takes to have legal tax deductions. This book tells in simple, how to language how to find your own legal loopholes. It's also quite entertaining to read the stories of what others have done (or should have done). If you are tired of paying too much in taxes and tired of worrying about protecting your assets, this is the book for you! Be prepared to get motivated to take action.
This is an excellent book for beginners as well as experienced business people. Great job Diane.
