Summary: "The Real Estate Agents Bible for Success"
Review: I just completed Dirk Zeller's book, Your First Year in Real Estate. I found this book to be the comprehensive learning tool any new or seasoned agent could benefit from. Dirk lays a foundation of basic real estate principles and techniques every agent should institute daily. He then takes you on a journey, advancing you thru the various real estate markets step by step, with the knowledge and skills of a pro. By following these practical lessons any agent, novice or seasoned, can graduate themselves to what I deem will separate the "Top Performers" from the average agent. This book should be hailed "The Real Estate Agents Bible for Success".

Summary: Excellent resource for new real estate professionals
Review: I just finished reading Dirk Zeller's "Your First Year in Real Estate" and was extremely pleased at the wealth of information I received from the book. Not only does Mr. Zeller motivate and inspire you to be the best real estate professional you can be, he gives solid advice for doing so. This book is applicable both to real estate and life in general. Definitely one of the best books I've ever read, and I highly recommend it!

Summary: this book is not only for real estate agents...
Review: I liked this book, although I can't say it was superb. I like Zeller's style of writing, the book was printed in larger print and with short but to the point sections. The book has 255 pages of information, but it's a very fast read.

I have to say that this book does have many positives. I want to mention that I did not read this book to become a real estate agent. When I first borrowed this book from a local library, I thought it was going to help me with buying and selling real estate. However, once I began reading, I realized that this book was a reference book for Real Estate Agents. My first instinct was to return it because I didn't really care about learning how to be a real estate agent. I wanted to learn about buying and selling real estate.

However, after few minutes I realized that this book might be beneficial for the fact that one day I will need an agent to help me buy or sell real estate. I thought that it would be a great idea to find out what a real estate agent is all about. This book really got me into the shoes of an agent, I learned more than I expected.

The first seven or eight chapters read like a self improvement book, but the rest is priceless for a first year real estate agent. Much of the techniques and strategies described in the book are common sense, however so is the information in self improvement books and yet I still love reading those. If you are seriously just starting out as an agent, I'd suggest you read this book.

In conclusion, this book will not blow you away, but it will give the first year real estate agent valuable lessons. Though, if you are really determined to succeed, I suggest you read Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. In fact, even Zeller suggested that you read that book, as I noticed that he paraphrased many of Hill's ideas.

Summary: Easy to understand and follow
Review: I purchased this book just prior to taking my real estate test and beginning my new career. It has helped tremendously and everything I have tried that was recommended has worked! The information is well laid out and presented in a format that is easy to follow and understand. Now, after being in this business for 6 months I have re-read the book and have picked up even more. I have recommended this book to others just starting out in their career and recommend it to anyone interested in beginning a career in real estate.

Summary: Add to Mr. Tirone's Hewlett-Packard Books And You
Review: I purchased this book plus the "21 things" your broker never told you book several years ago at amazon. I enjoyed both books, though the gaping hole in their advice is filled like like the height of the Hoover Dam! by the best books on real estate computations imaginable for anyone in real estate or appraisal or just wanting to see more and know more about time value of money calculations using one or another of the Hewlett Packard financial calculators, the HP-12C and the HP 17BII. I bought Mr. Tirone's books--though I hear his HP-17BII book is out of print at this time?--from amazon. let me say that all of us in the office were amazed by the thorough and very cost effective book from Mr. Tirone on the HP12C used in real estate, "Professional Real Estate Problem Solving Using the HP 12C".
Yes, we do mostly selling and hunting for listings in residential and to an extent in comemrcial real estate. But, we are lacking at times in our understanding of the flow of numbers through a real estate situation. Here is where the gap is plugged times ten by Mr. Tirone's real estate calculations books. His work is based, he has told me and it jumps from his example in his book, directly from things he taught many real estate agents and brokers and consultants in his seminars. The books should be mandaatory reading and study for all serious real estate professionals, and they are mandatory study in our company here in New York State.
It is difficult to make a quick transition from a novice to a seasoned pro, but it can be done and you need all the help possible: a great broker; good books on the field; and you need some serious help where calculations are concerned. all are available from this great company, amazon.com.
best wishes to all of you.

Summary: Well Worth the Money
Review: I recently attended a meeting where Dirk Zeller was the keynote speaker. As excellent as his talk was, his book is even better. As a new real estate agent, I was floundering in all the unknowns--it is one of those professions where you are thrown in and expected to swim (or sink). This book has made a tremendous difference to me, and I expect it would for any new agent.

Summary: As good as it gets.....
Review: I recommend this book to anyone and everyone who is considering a career in Real Estate. Dirk Zeller is a down to earth, straight shooter and has a 100% grip on how to succeed or fail in Real Estate - starting from Day-1.

After reading the book I had a chance to personally meet Dirk. His attitude and demeanor reflect his success. His book helped me to make the choice to get into Real Estate, I am following his recommendations and am having great success - and I have been at it only 3-months. I HIGHLY recommend this book.

Summary: Simple, but don't let that fool you. Valuable information!
Review: I was hoping that this book would lay out in detail all that a newcomer to real estate needed to do in their first year to be successful. Like most books of this nature, though, it provided a lot of general guidelines to doing well, but no real specifics on exactly HOW to do it.

Luckily, this only lasted the first portion of the book. And, while the first part was not as good as I hoped for, the second part more than made up for it! Starting with the chapter on "Mastering Your Sales Skills, Part I" the book really gets into the details of getting your business off to a great start.

What was most valuable to me were the sections on :

- Correctly defining what prospects/leads are for you (and then concetrating on those people that meet your criteria and not dealing with others)

- Paying attention to profit & loss with regard to your business activities. (You don't want to be one of those people who buys their business either through huge amounts of time invested, or by purchasing all the latest gimmicks that don't help increase your sales.)

- Ideas on how to effectively run your business and still maintain a good balance with your family time. This is a critical ingredient that helps prevent burnout!

All in all, I believe this is a book worth reading and putting into practice. In particular, this book in combination with Tom Hopkin's "How to Master the Art of Listing and Selling Real Estate" and Danielle Kennedy's "How to List and Sell Real Estate in the 21st Century" provide a very strong foundation and a detailed list of things to do to get your business going. You can't help but be as successful as you want to be with these books guiding you.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: I regret having bought this book
Review: I was mislead by other reviews. This book does not address the real issues or addresses it superficially. This book contais lots of text without useful information, focus on generalities and repeats its contents very often. The useful information does not fill an A4 sheet.
Online reviews seem to be very dangerous for buyers.
