Rating: Summary: Outstanding, enlightening, simple Review: A great book to read on the basics of human understanding, and motivation. Highly recommend.
Rating: Summary: A Great Read Review: A great story about leadership. It's a simple one, but one that applies to everyday life. We are all leaders of some sort - family, work, civic, whatever. This story turns the world of leadership back to it's origin - back to the true example of leadership.
Rating: Summary: True Learning for Leadership Review: As a business person, who has had a relatively successful career, I found this simple story to contain powerful concepts. This is a book that will have positive impact on anyone in a leadership position. A must read!
Rating: Summary: A Guide to Leadership Review: As a retired teacher I am sorry I did not have this book to read each August before school began. This book is inspirational on the techniques of true leadership. It is a book to re read for a guide into everyday living. and relationships.
Rating: Summary: A book for not only managment, but life in general. Review: I found this to be one of the best books I have ever read. This book speaks of things we as people should already know and do, but the way the information is presented is outstanding. In addition, I found this book to entertaining as well. I would recommend this book for anyone who is either working towards a career in management, or has a career in management. A definite must buy.
Rating: Summary: Those who humble themselves will be taught Review: I have read through all the various reviews from other people. I discovered one recurring theme and that is, people who rated the book positively are those who had humbled themselves and allow the material to speak to them and be taught by it. And those are did not profit or gain much from the book are those who had started the book from the beginning with a mindset of "I have seen a lot, not another leadership book, you better impress me in less than two paragraphs or else...."It's interesting to see how some would benefit tremendously while others would not. In fact, that very same principle of humility and willingness to be taught are mentioned inside the book. I would just say this: go read the book, it's worth the time and effort. I would recommend it.
Rating: Summary: If you humble yourself, the book can teach you something Review: I read through all the reviews. It seems to me that there are some who had benefited quite a lot from reading this book and then there are those who don't. I would just say this: This is a good book. It's built upon sound principles. If you allow yourself to be taught by it, you would gain from it. But if you take on the attitude of "I have read tons of leadership books, you better impress me in less than two paragraphs or else..." Well, we all know what the outcome would be. The principle of humility and the willingness to be taught is mentioned also in the book. The most important thing is, now that you know the principles, go practice immediately or else you never really gain anything.
Rating: Summary: A Phenomenal Guide About Leadership Review: I recently read the 180 pages of this book and was deeply impacted by the message it shared. Other reviews discuss the setting of its parable, and how it is told. I'd like to share a bit about its message and how it touched me. The main concept of the book is that there is a distinct difference between authority and power. POWER = The ability to force others, by virtue of your position over them, to do what you wish them to do. AUTHORITY = The ability to have others voluntarily do what you wish them to do as a result of the nature of your relationship with them. The book then discusses in great depth how to develop authority with those we have accepted the role to lead. The concepts are simple, yet overwhelming in their depth. If you are one that wishes to learn to develop more power in your various roles of leadership (within the home, at work, or any other group), then this book is an invaluable tool. A paradigm shift waiting to happen for only 16 dollars!
Rating: Summary: A MUST for every person in a leadership position. Review: In a world where leadership is often defined as "the one carrying the biggest stick", this book reinforces the Golden Rule. Written in easily digestible language, the ideas and thoughts are on target for a fulfilled life, and successful career. Bravo James Hunter, I anxiously await the new book.
Rating: Summary: Every Leader Should Read this One Review: James Hunter has given leaders a beautiful story of how to lead in a manner that will be successful no matter what kind of organization you are involved with. Not a gimick, but a way to turn on the creative juices of those the you lead. The leadership styles of spirit respecting behavior work.... I can attest to it! This is a quick read and well worth the time. Read it and then act on it!
