Rating: Summary: Credit After Bankruptcy by Stephen Snyder Review: I am in no way affiliated with Stephen Snydor and can offer an objective opinion. If you are contemplating bankruptcy or are struggling to recover, buy this book! It's a formula that works, what else do you need? Other reviews mentioned I could get the info for free at a library. You won't find most of this at the library...but I also think my time is worth more than [the price] an hour in research...so buying a book with all the info I need in one place is well worth the expenditure to me. I had the priviledge of attending one of Stephen's seminars so I was further motivated to buy the book. Stephen is for real. He's "been there and done that", learned to break the rules and legally color outside of the lines and will help you on your road to recovery..financially, mentally and for some, even spiritually. He'll stop you from making the major mistakes almost everyone makes after filing bankruptcy (you wouldn't guess what they are!). Yes, you can buy a car at a decent interest rate. (Do you know where to go?) Yes, you can buy a home (you do not have to wait 7 years...he shows you the fast track). He recommends terrific outside services. I'm about to apply for a secured credit card, but cannot say enough about the credit repair service he recommends. My attorney warned me off but I did it anyway by Stephen's advice and it works! Every 60 days negative credit is being erased from my report. It's unbelievable to watch.Yes, you can thrive after Bankruptcy if you know what to do. Stephen hands you the formula that makes it much easier.
Rating: Summary: Not very good advice Review: If you're a reasonably intelligent person who has filled for bankruptcy, and have spent any amount of time studying it's effects on credit, you're probably not going to learn anything new from this book. In fact, I think the author is way off the mark in many areas. Some of his suggestions are downright ridiculous and unnecessary. For example, he suggests that the only car you might be able to lease shortly after your bankruptcy is discharged is a Ford Escort. HELLO. Is he really serious? I know from personal experience, that this is far from the truth. I also have to laugh at his list of suggestions for cutting expenses. Most of them we've heard a thousand times before and are only practical for people who live in caves totally removed from society. How about some practical advice for real people who live in the real world. This is the first book I have ever returned for credit.
Rating: Summary: Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Review: This book is FULL of the best information, and is perfect for everyone. I went to this mans seminar, and am happy to say that he is an honest human being, and I would advise you to follow whatever suggestions he gives. I HAVE, and I have made fantastic progress ever since I picked up this book. My credit record is finally doing great, and my fica scores have sky rocketed. He helps you get the job done. It's not a quick fix, but if you are willing to do what you have to do, THIS BOOK will see you through your mess, with little work, and you will be much better for it. I just receive a notice from the credit bureau and they have taken another bad item off my credit. My scores are almost perfect again, and I am sure it is because of this book.
Rating: Summary: A must have for anyone trying to repair credit! Review: Not only is this book full of invaluable information on how to regain credit after bankruptcy, it discusses in detail how to obtain the "right" kind of credit and pinpoints specific pitfalls and mistakes to avoid. In today's world of were credit dominates and a good credit rating is essential, it is comforting to find a resource that speaks to the average person. The book is clear, straightforward and speaks to the reader as a person. Yes, some of the information could be found independantly through research... but this books takes the guesswork, the fear, and the uncertainty out of the process. Stephen also holds FREE seminars all over the country to further explain his ideas from the book. His seminars cover specifics in detail, and he also brings in local business representatives who his strategy and are there to help the common person. Stephen speaks freely about his own struggle and shame with bankruptcy which helped my husband and I feel, for the first time, not alone and not without options. What a blessing it was that we discovered Stephen and this book! For anyone who is struggling with credit issues, bankruptcy or not, this book along with a seminar is a MUST HAVE! We are two years past a bankruptcy discharge and just closed on a home this afternoon! Thank you Stephen.
Rating: Summary: Stepehen's book and his seminars are sincere and good info. Review: I attended Stephen's seminar in Atlanta and purchased his book at the seminar and read it cover to cover. I was able to refinance my house at a lower interest rate as he prescribed in his book after only one year out of bankruptcy. I also was able to get a brand new car (Taurus) from FORD with a reasonable payment and lease term as prescribed in his book. His book mentions FORD as being one of the few companies that will assist people with fresh bankruptcies rebuild their credit without [hurting] their customers with the interest rate. I bought this car after one year out of bankruptcy as well. I have since bought a second vehichle (Explorer) from FORD and it was a sign and drive deal with 4.9% rate on 60 months. I am now only 2.5 years out of bankruptcy and I owe Stephen a great deal of thanks for helping me to speed up the process of recovery.
Rating: Summary: The Book Works! The FREE Seminar Works, Too! Review: I attended Stephen Snyder's seminar a year ago in NY. I purchased the book and have used the non-profit organization's services to delete eight items from my credit report. Last month I applied for and was approved a $13,000-limit credit card with 25-day grace period and 9.99% ongoing APR. My FICO scores are up and I can obtain a no-docs mortgage with 10% down whenever I'd like. The book has many important ideas for bankrupt people and I also suggest going to the free seminar. I attended my second one in NJ this month (one year after my first one). I was remotivated and seriously look to continue my financial future. I can't wait for "Business After Bankruptcy" and the new bankruptcy magazine this winter. UPDATE (10/25/2002): With the help of Stephen Snyder and his legal services I was able to remove my bankruptcy from Experian. A typical bankruptcy remains on an Experian credit report from 7 - 10 years. I've only had my bankruptcy for 5 years. Pretty impressive!
Rating: Summary: One Stop Shopping Review: One reviewer stated that they could get all the information in this book in 30 minutes on the internet. I would love to see that trick. This book is packed full of invaluable information to help you recover from bankruptcy quickly. It is a must read for anyone who has filed or is contemplating bankruptcy. 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: Ordered Book and Denied Secured Credit Card Review: I ordered the book, followed the directions, mailed $200 to a secured credit card company, and received a letter stating my secured credit card was denied because I had poor credit. I returned the book for a refund.
Rating: Summary: It's Not that Bad Review: Hello to all. Very discouraged at what some readers thought about the book. I attended the seminar last April and has since then re-established credit within 8 months after filing bk 1 year ago. His book isn't the greatest, but it's not the worse. I do not think that there is any single book out there that will give you all the answers that you seek. I do agree that you can find some info online, but just to hear about another person's experience helps a lot. For those of you who do not believe in any spirtual being, the part about tithing is that when you help others, you help yourself. You cannot receive unless you give. Also the comment about the "wife" thing. He does not look down upon women, but instead encourages the man to listen more to what his wife is telling him, simply people try and think out of the box sometimes.
Rating: Summary: No matter what...this worked for us! Review: My husband and I attended the seminar this year and were amazed at the whole thing. Mr Snyder stands on his principles and that's what makes him a great example for us to follow. I especially like the "listen to your wife portion" of the seminar. We took advantage of almost everything offered at the seminar and we still receive emails and phone calls to help us along! It's 5 months later and we were able to get credit from a company who'd turned us down TWICE in this same year! I say, go, give it a chance. P&T
