Summary: More examples for chap 4 and on
Review: This text has many examples in it until it reaches the discrete time fourier transform. In chapters 1 to 3 there's an example problem after every topic is presented. But once the text gets into the dtft it starts lacking. For example, after talking about symmetric transfer functions, there should be some example problems asking to put the function's fourier transform into the form for symmetric transfer functions.

Summary: definitely not for filters
Review: very disappointing for the one who looks for filter design, very confusing and most unorganized. Loodmer would b a really good book to start for filter design.

except for filter design, this book is an excellent one in its category.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Not for the beginner
Review: Yes, this is an excellent book and has excellent coverage of many DSP topics, But reading it is no walk in the park. This book is NOT for the beginner. Try Understanding Digital Signal Processing by Richard Lyons first and then come back to this one.
