Summary: It's not how much money you make, it's how much you spend
Review: This book dispels the myth that most millionaires live an ostentatious lifestyle. Quite to the contrary. They became millionaires by living within their means. The book also drives home the point that it's not what you make, it's what you keep.

It's too bad that there isn't a 6 star rating, because that's what this book deserves. It's that good.

Summary: Must read for anyone wishing to accumulate wealth
Review: Great book for anyone from high school to middle age. High schoolers may use it to help determine their future careers.

Summary: somewhere in the world
Review: AH! The cat is out of the bag. This book is holy. The authors saved me from a life of defeat. You see I never had any body give me a picture of what it took to be rich. I yearned wealth so badly I could taste it but still it eluded me. I would be the one buying expensive...(You name it). I still occasionally backslide but I no longer have the wool pulled over my eyes. I bought this book in 2000 and that is when I realized I can have what I really want and enjoy having things without struggle. The only reason I give this book 4 stars is because, I still have a little part of me that wants to live in a palace, have my own helicopter pad, a jet landing strip, and live a hedonist lifestyle before I get too old. I don't want to be married and I want outer trappings of wealth not neccessarily as many clothes but, automobiles that can at least give the athletes a slight run for there money.I definitely reccommend this book I occasionally pull it out as a reminder even three years later. It is my friendly reminder. The millionaire mind I reccommend as well it gave me a clothing strategy. Take care and I hope this book do for you what it did for me.

Summary: A startling revelation on what it takes to create wealth.
Review: I can certaintly understand the controversy regarding this book. When I first heard of this book, I thought it was some ripoff book and approached this book with ambivalence. So I checked it out from my local library first and was so impressed that not only did I go out and buy my own copy, but also give it as an accessory gift for special occasions and recommend it to everyone I know.

I also recommend "The Millionaire Mind" which is different from this book. That volume allows you to peek inside the minds of millionaires; shows you how the millionaires think.

One caveat of these books is that they are dependent on income. You won't find anything in here on creating cash flow. For that I recommend "Rich Dad Poor Dad" whose ideas on staying debt free are somewhat similiar to what is recommended in Millionaire Next Door, but also provides ideas for creating wealth through additional cash flow. It is a book that should be written in addition, not in place of The Millionaire Next Door.

Also recommend More Wealth Without Risk and Financial Self-Defense which offer actual strategies on creating wealth, reducing expenses and investing.

Summary: The Millionaire Next Door (Money Matters)
Review: The Millionaire Next Door taught me that if I want to become rich and I am not an athlete or music star, I have to really work hard. One needs to save all that he earns in order to have a decent net worth. One also has to invest their money to continue to gain. There is no way one can live a life with a huge house and nice car(s)and have a net worth of $10 million.

Summary: Awesome and inspiring
Review: This book will change your perspective on the "millionaire" that society has created, it's a page turner.

Summary: Boring!!!
Review: Although this book encouraged me to accumulate wealth myself,I found it very boring. It basically says on almost 300 pages what you could say in 3 short sentences:To be weahlty you have to be frugal. The rich are not necessarily wealhty. To be weahlty do not spend any money. The whole book only tries to demonstrate how this is true in sometimes very controverse ways.Don't buy it!

Summary: The Millionaire Next Door
Review: This book will help you discover the best ways you can become financially independent. It examines the lives of millionaires and how they allocate their time, energy, and money efficiently in order to build wealth. Not only is this book great for young people just starting their careers, but it is a reality check for anyone who is interested in evaluating their actual net worth.

Summary: Absolutely Fascinating
Review: I listed to this book on CD during my commute to and from work. I found it to be most enjoying and educational. I knew that some wealthy people do no seem all that wealthy (e.g. Sam Walton) but I had no idea that the majority of the affluent were so frugal. A definate eye-opener!! Even though I am far from being wealthy I definately got some great new insight on how to get there and am already making personal changes.

A MUST READ for anyone looking to get a new financial perspective.

Summary: A Must Read
Review: Knowing and doing are two entirely different beasts. Doing is vastly more important, talent always taking second fiddle to persistence and action. However, it is always good to increase knowledge and this book gives some simple information that should strike most readers as obvious. If only knowledge lead more easily to action.

There are probably better books on the market that deal with how to obtain and keep wealth, however, this one lays out the simple formulas that lead to becoming a millionaire and how too many us ignore them. It is not a "how to book" so much as it is a "this is how it is" book.

I highly recommend this work. It is especially encouraging to those that perhaps had a tough start in life or had little or no higher education. I also recommend other works by this author to those in that work in a selling environment or are considering a career in that field.
