Summary: I learn best through stories of others who do it right!
Review: As with NUTS, the Freibergs have championed the cause of "treat your employees with respect and they will reward your bottom line". I learn best through watching others do it right...always have. This book provides a window into several high profile managers that are doing it right. The personal stories make for an easy yet informative read.

Summary: A must read for everyone!
Review: Bravo! What a wake-up call for corporate cultures! After the last several years of economic malaise, Guts! is a shot in the arm to get companies moving again. Written in a no-nonsense, conversational style, Kevin & Jackie's latest book is a visual delight and hard to put down. The messages are very timely and the book reaches out to the reader with a variety of great ideas. You finish the book with a sense of gutsiness, eager to put the ideas to work. The Gut Checks are great!
One of the book's themes is refocusing on employees as a priority. Too many companies have allowed the erratic demands of their customers to shape their internal culture. Those demands have forced companies to focus on their customer's needs while abandoning the needs of their own employees. The message? If you're not taking care of your employees, how do you expect them to take care of your customers?
I recommend Guts not only for managers and executives, but for all employees as well. Guts validates many of the ideas that employees have every day and gives some practical steps to rekindling their passion in the workplace. This book should be on everyone's bookshelf! It should also be required reading for the management consulting profession.
Guts! is the best book to cross my desk in years!

Summary: Guts Works
Review: Fifteen companies, hundreds of examples, and loads of specific steps-all incorporated in an entertaining and inspiring story depicting the power of gutsy leadership. I loved this book because it is real. This book uses real people, doing real things, getting real results and in the process, applying methods that can be used by any leader in any environment. Drs. Kevin and Jackie Freiberg did their research and have done a masterful job of capturing a fascinating mosaic of simple practices that have created uncommon success and incredible passion in a wide variety of organizations. As a 15 year employee of Southwest Airlines, I know research and reporting for that company is right on the money. If you lead, or want to lead, at any level, in any organization, you need to read and implement "Guts." I liked it so much I've ordered dozens for my clients.

Summary: J. LANCE
Review: Great book! The "Gut Check" sections are particularly helpful to focus on the things that can make a substantial difference in the "culture" of your business. To support their recommedations, the Freibergs do an excellent job of using examples of what employees can and will do when they are empowered by great management. Read this book and you will have tremendous insight on how to make work almost as much fun as play, and more successful from an economic standpoint at the same time.

Summary: GUTS! is GREAT!!
Review: Great organizations today cast away the "command and control" style of management, flatten the organization chart and leverage the talents of ALL employees. Kevin and Jackie Freibergs new book "GUTS!" talks about these organizations, why they are different and why they succeed. They write, not about average leaders, but about exceptional ones who innovate, take risks, hire great people and then work hard to help them succeed.

Summary: my new favorite business book
Review: Great ways to maximize profits and performance whether you're an old hand entrepreneur, starting a business, a manager, or an employee with bottom line responsibility. Just the guidelines on hiring can save you a fortune! Obviously adaptability is the key to success and survival for the next few years and as usual, the Friebergs have arrived there ahead of the rest of us to show the way. This book also has great illustrations, which is rare for a biz book in these cost-cutting times. A must read for business people.

Summary: Must read to make your business more successful
Review: Guts covers innovative as well as established management techniques that can be implemented in any size organization. The book is written in a very organized manner. The end of each chapter contains a synopsis of highlights for easy reference at a later time.

I am the managing partner of a 50 employee law firm and have read many management, leadership and motivational books. Guts combines all these subjects into one concise book utilizing examples from some of the most successful CEO's and companies in the United States.

Must read for anyone interested in improving the management and leadership philosophies wihtin their organizations.

Summary: Wow - this is a great book!
Review: GUTS got me all fired up about work again. I loved reading about companies that are able to tap into people's passion and creativity and channel it into worthwhile ventures. We all want to be respected and to be able to use our unique talents to make a difference in the world, but a lot of us are just grinding it out, trying to make a paycheck and not get fired. GUTS gives many examples of companies where people are living that better version of work, and it provides practical advice for how to create that type of organizational environment. The author's say their purpose is to "...tell stories that improve organizations and inspire people to live bigger, better, more fulfilling lives." Mission accomplished.
