Summary: Truly One Of Those Books That Will Change Your Life!
Review: This is a book that needs to be in your library. From the beginning, I thought I was going to read some radical new book on Negotiations. I received way more than I expected. Start With No, will help you with any major activity in your life (school, business, relationships, and of course negotiations). There are many benefits to reading this book, but the one that grabs me the most is forming a Mission Statement. This Mission Statement will keep you focused on your main objective. I am a options trader. By the end of the book, I created a Mission Statement to help enter and exit a position with the greatest success. I will keep this book in a safe place!

Summary: Close more sales
Review: Using Jim Camps's negotiating tips will definately help me in my sales career. Learning to say "No" is a lot harder than it sounds, but you will be a lot more effective if you can. Another book that has helped me is Rat Race Relaxer: Your Potential & The Maze of Life by JoAnna Carey.

Summary: 397 degrees away from convention
Review: well, it isn't that win-win is bad (after all, one enters into agreements which deliver perceived advantages)... the situation is that few think about how to interact for the purpose of most favorable result and nearly everyone is pathologically afraid of getting to a no. camp has it generally correct -- in respect of experienced vs inexperienced negotiators and the meaning of words in context -- and writes well. all in all a good read.

Summary: The greatest book of its kind, more or less.
Review: What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail. As a fan of the 'self-help- genre (they are some of the funniest books around), I feel confident in saying that this book stands out in a densely packed field. While this book is written by a negotiator with 'negotiators' in mind, the lessons he so expertly relates are practical. His methods are useful in every aspect of 'negotiation' from buying a car to getting a date. Starting with No holds a special place on my bookshelf along with Lolita, The Prophet, The 48 Laws of Power, How to Win Friends and Influence People and the Bible. I wish I could meet Mr. Camp. His skill as an author and as a persuasive personality shines through from the other side of the word processor. Buy it and don't look back.

Summary: Why I seems to loss when I play win-win
Review: Win-Win strategy works great in a low stake setting, such as in a class room. I always wonder why I can't seems to pull it off in the office. This book explained it all. It is like a light went off in my head. It makes perfect sense - it is because everyone only cares about themself. Win-win assumes that everyone is looking at the big picture and long term. Most people will agree that that is not always the case. From my experience, it is seldomely the case. The author may disagree with me but I think the fundamental principle presented in this book is really not that far off from win-win strategy. This book indicated that you have to allow the other person to say no, as matter of facts, you encourages them to say no. The author does not encourage you to take advantage of the otherside, instead, the strategy presented allows both sides to get the most out of the agreement (win-win?!). Overall, I think the steps or method can be organized a little better. Otherwise, it is an excellent book.

Summary: You've got to read this book
Review: Without even getting half-way through this book, it's cleary brilliant. I happened to go to the library to get a few books on "negotiating" because it fascinates me, and Start With NO is the first one I picked up. I actually feel that someone GETS IT, as it seems that I've practiced Camp's theories naturally. I've felt weird in the past, when I realized that I put people at ease because they can feel a little superior to me, but it's true, IT WORKS! I've been noted for my success with negotiating, and now understand better why I've had that success. We are constantly negotiating in life, and Camp understands this and teaches the reader how to win. I'm eager to finish this book I just started last night, as I know I'll really be armed by the book's end. THANK YOU JIM CAMP! Thanks for 'putting it out there'.
