Summary: Very helpful, although slightly overpriced
Review: Lesko sure knows how to project enthusiasm!...Turns out, there really are a lot of government agencies out there specially designed to help the small guy. A week after getting the book, I have my own freelancing business, bidding on government contracts. A guy in my neighborhood made $50,000 last year selling home-made BBQ sauce to the government. All from these unknown government agencies. The title of this book is a bit misleading. It isn't "free" money in the sense that you don't write a letter and a check comes in the mail. You have to get out and work for some of these funds and services...

Review: i'm a white male, downsized from my job with limited skills and education and looking to get back to school. needless to say i qualifed for nothing in this book and i think most people won't either. if this sounds like you, save your money and look else where . i sent my book back for a refund (still had to pay $7 shipping it back)

Summary: Save your money!
Review: This book is grossly overrated and over priced. It did not have the information that I was seeking. If you are an average Joe this book will not apply you. The strategies in this book for obtaining grants etc. are for very specific people, in very specific categories, and even in specific regions. Chances are that you, like myself will not qualify for any of these programs. Save your money!

Summary: This book is a must for anyone who wants to suceed in life.
Review: This book is great! We all pay taxes one way or another and this book shows you how you can get money for free just for paying taxes. This book is a must if you want to start your education over, or start your own business. It's everybody's dream to start a business and this book allows you to become one step closer. Once you start reading this book and find out all the money you can get from the government you wont want to put it down.

Summary: For information, maybe- if money is your objective, NO!
Review: The title of this book is grossly misleading; this book does not help you obtain money, riches or wealth in any other form other than information; so if you want a source book on where to go in your state for information on insurance, taxes, licenses, grants, etc. fine; even then, some of the 'dope' in it is outdated; if you want 'free money', this book ain't not got it for you nor for anyone else; I would not have bought it if I had first reviewed it.

Summary: Interesting, informative, and very useful.
Review: What I liked best was the fact that you could get information on virtually any topic, including government programs, and it provides information regarding what departments to contact for various forms of assistance. Frankly, I have often found it time-consuming and difficult to determine where to call for the desired information or services. It is extremely helpful to have a source that gives one a starting point. Because the book is large and very heavy, it is very cumbersome and somewhat difficult to carry around. I like to carry the book that I am reading with me because, by reading on lunches and breaks, I can finish the book sooner. Due to the size of this book, I did not carry it with me. As a result, it took me longer to finish the book; however, the book was definitely worth my time and money.

Summary: 85% Fluff - Plays well to a lazy persons gullibility
Review: YES - there are government programs, but NO - it's not as sexy as being a day trader and making wads of cash from one good tip. It takes time and in many cases the government marginalizes your need to get you out of the door at their least expense possible. ALSO, and this is very big - YOU LIVE IN UH... ONE STATE RIGHT? We'll it will be a better idea to find a local book of government programs because this one wastes pages by giving you a directory of every state! Big book, good trick eh?

Summary: Read this as "No Stars", please
Review: I think I speak for all public librarians when I say, "I HATE THIS BOOK."

I hate the fact that I have to keep it behind the desk so it won't get stolen. I hate that people constantly ask for it because they are either A. Naive enough to believe you can get something for nothing or B. Lazy enough to expect to get something for nothing or C. Pathetic because they are depressed and think that this Lesko con artist can save their lives.

I hate that nothing in it is true, or is true but has been warped by his presentation to the point that the less sophisticated John Q. Publics think that they can get a million dollars just by filling out some obscure form (which we don't carry) and mailing it to some obscure address (which we do not have a listing for).

I don't believe in banning books, or starting book bonfires, but I really, really, really wish this book would go out of print. Permanently.

Summary: Life is not a game show
Review: This is not a printed version of "Do You Want to Be a Millionaire?" It's based on the assumption that you want to CHANGE your life for the better, and are willing to take action to do so. You have to exercise your intellect, your intuition, your initiative, and your skills in (1) deciding which life-changing activities you want money for, (2) selecting the best possibilities for funding them, and (3) filling out applications, writing grant proposals, or something similar. I found the book a very useful compilation: while the information is available elsewhere, it's often hard to find, and this book not only put it all together but allowed you to make comparisons easily. While some of the addresses and phone numbers are out of date, that's inevitable in any printed reference work, and (in my experience) this book was better than average. If you want to transform your life, and just need the money to do so, this book can show you how to get it. But if you're contented to remain a couch potato, and want to do it in a bigger house with a wide-screen TV, sorry; you might as well save your money and buy a lottery ticket.

Summary: Don't Judge a Book By Its Cover
Review: First, you have to realize that this book isn't going to start throwing money at you. You need to do quite a lot of work to get the ball rolling. What other people haven't mentioned is that this book is a resource guide. Mr. Lesko does all the research for you; all you have to do is take that information and run with it. I would much rather have this book with nearly all the information I need to apply for a government grant then have to do all the research myself and then apply for a grant. Mr. Lesko is simply taking all the leg work out of the application process by doing the research for you...that's what you need to understand.
