Summary: The Art of Possibility
Review: The "Art of Possibility" deeply resonated with me. Creating value by managing risk and uncertainty has been the core of my life's journey. It has been filled with complexity, tension, and dissonance...but it has also been filled with the discovery of possibility and meaning. The Zanders have done a real service in framing the "how" of possibility with their examples and practices.

This gem of a book will be useful not only in managing one's life, but also in helping other's to create their great life stories. The answers to core questions like "which game of success will I choose to play?","will I choose to be a contribution?", and "do I take myself too ___seriously?" are keys to a life of joy, meaning, and fulfillment.

Can you see the work of art within you? Within others? Or are you focusing on the facade? Who is winning the battle between the caculating self and the central self? Are you vulnerable or are you permeable? What is here now? And what do you want to do from here? Get yourself this book and engage in THE joyous adventure of opening up to your possibilities.

Summary: A very worthy read
Review: The Art of Possibility does not offer a quick path to wealth, a leg up on one's fellow humans, or a set of tools for manipulating one's enemies and friends; instead it provides the intellectual means for changing the whole quality of one's life, professional and private. It offers a language and a framework for thinking about oneself in relation to one's life and surroundings, with which one can sweep away the worthless dross of fretting, and envying, and fearing, and achieve that happy potential and unbounded effectfulness that every one of us knows we ultimately possess. If marking a watershed in your life is worth a small amount of effort, and a little bit of abstract thinking, then read this book. (See review below by Donal Wayne Mitchell for more specific information.) I recommend it to you highly.

Summary: Werner Erhard Where Are You?
Review: The Art of Possibility, Transforming Professional and Personal Life, by Zander and Zander is a creative and in some ways an exciting book. In the book the authors write about ways the reader can get out of the" box", to see and experience a new perspective on things, and situations. The book also talks about empowering yourself and others. If you have done the EST Traning now known as the Forum you will find nothing new in this book. All the same its nice to see the ideas of Werner Erhard,Stewart Emery and L.Ron Hubbard explained in a new light. If you like this book , you will also enjoy Out Of The Box for life by Warren Berland and Working With Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goldman. Both authors write about some of the ideas found in the Zanders Book. If you are not familiar with Erhard,Emery or Hubbard. hold on to your hat this book will be an eye opener

Summary: A Unique and Inspired Book:
Review: The authors bring a unique and refreshing approach to the subject of achieving our God given potential. This subject has broad application, in both business and personal realms. The authors also provide very practical application techniques for their principles.

This is also a great gift for any child or adult who is struggling with who they are becoming. I had my 9 year old daughter listen to a talk that Benjamin Zander gave. This was over 1 year ago. She still refers to many of his principles.

This is one the best books I have read in some time.

Summary: Step Outside Your Mind
Review: The daily grind wears us down to the point that we can't ever seem to burst open from our cocoon of life and take flight. This book is certainly a great start to freeing up one's brain and thinking process. It is a rare book that completely delivers on its title. This one did. Read it and enjoy. Jim

Summary: Skip this book
Review: The ideas aren't very original, and, even worse, they aren't well presented. A lot of the recommendations remain too abstract. The writing is often lazy, and when the authors do choose to offer concrete examples, those often lack impact. I'm not a big fan of self-help books, but the title and description of this one caught my eye, because of the art connection. However, I was very disappointed with the book.

Summary: Stretches your thought process
Review: The Zander's redefine the way you look at things and view situations. I found the book to be a combination of art/creativity and psycho-analysis. Some of the principles I had a hard time really owning.

It reminds me a bit of Zen or Tao. Being in the present, not assigning blame, recognizing that is the way things are...

I couldn't read the book in one sitting. I found that it requires a lot of thought and reflection. Parts that I found inspirational were the white papers that were written by the musicians in response to a request from the conductor.

Some of the principles seemed to really line up well with the popular book from a few years ago "7 spiritual laws of success" by Deepak Chopra.

I would like to hear the authors read this as a book-on-tape, because I found myself thinking about things while I was trying to read. In a nutshell, the book says "put your life into a different playing field, Don't think win-win, think about making a contribution or about making a difference."

Summary: This book belongs at the TOP of your reading stack
Review: There's just never enough time in the day to get through all the books in that stack beside my bed, but every so often I come across one that moves me so much, that it in turn deserves to be moved to the top of that stack.

"The Art of Possibility" by Rosamund Stone Zander and Benjamin Zander is one of those books.

This book is part philosophy, part creativity, part business coaching, and part common sense. It shares stories of a world of possibilities if only we shift our focus -- it's not even a BIG shift -- just small things anyone can do to dramatically improve not only their lives, but the lives of those with whom we interact.

Each chapter begins with an outline of that section's idea, moves into stories demonstrating that concept from both Rosamund and Benjamin, and then closes with ways to put the concept into action. My favorites so far are "Give Everyone an A", "Rule #6", and "BTFI". My thanks to the Zanders for giving us a book that not only deserves to be at the top of everyone's reading stack, but deserves to be slipped right back into the stack to begin its cycle back to my hands to read again and again.

Summary: Liberation!
Review: This book gave me simple but amazing insights in areas where I was so used to being stuck, I hardly believed there could be a solution - and there was and the insights continue to come.

Summary: A Good Read
Review: This book is fantastic for anyone on a self-discouvery journey. One should look for books like this and people like Zander for help through life. Reading a book can't do any harm, and reading this one has done good for so many people. As someone who personally knows Zander and the things that he has taught people, I strongly reccomend this book.
