Rating: Summary: A great book, but... Review: A great book, with a great point. But Goldratt's writing style is pretty rough. He gets better in later books, especially "Critical Chain".
Rating: Summary: Better than average Review: The first time I read the book, I found it really enjoyable as well as stimulating. Tried to relate the problems mentioned in Mr Rogo's plant with my work place. However, after the second glance of the book, some of the problems were over-simplied, especially towards the end of the book - when Stacey & Ralph found that more than twenty orders were or would be delayed ... because of the balance had been changed due to accepting more new orders. I'm sure in real life, these problems are more complicated and cannot be solved as easily as descrcibed in the book.Anyway, it did offer a new fresh look at the problems in mnaufacturing site.
Rating: Summary: the goal...links operations with strategy Review: The goal is an interesting book that shows how having a clear "goal" and "disciplined thinking" can help operational managers avoid that the label..."cant see the big picture". The goal inspires managers to have the courage to say so when they do see the bigger picture!
Rating: Summary: The basis for the correct way to run JIT manufacturing. Review: I could not put this book down. I read it 5 years ago, since then every one of our operating staff has read it. It is facinating the way Mr. Goldratt and Mr. Cox weave the story in, around and about a manufacturing operation. If you are in manufacturing and expect to get anywhere read this book.
Rating: Summary: Great book, but no concrete roadmap Review: The book was extremely easy to read and I couldn't put it down. However, it lacked a comprehensive roadmap for implementing the Theory of Constraints that would apply to more than just Alex Rogo's plant. Still, it is well-written and a must-read for anyone wanting to read any more of Goldratt's novels.
Rating: Summary: Awesome book! Review: I can not tell that I learned whole a lot of things from this book, bit it somehow inspired me to start my own business and informed me of some problems that occur in businesses.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding! Review: Outstanding! This book is a must for anyone even remotely interested in production planning and scheduling. Could not put it away until read all the way through.
Rating: Summary: CEOs to line workers must read this book. Review: If you want to read only one book in your life time then make this book be the one, This is the book is for Novel readers to CEOs. Very well written keeps your attention and you can relate yourself to this book.
Rating: Summary: Very Enlightening and Useful Review: I read this book as I was first entering the manufacturing world after 13 years in the Army. Many of the concepts and principles were foreign to me then. In the 3 years since, I have read "The Goal" two more times and understand much more now. I would say that Goldratt's writing started me on my path to learning the tools of lean manufacturing and applying them on a daily basis. To give credit where credit is due, I would not be in the position I am in now as a facilitator of continous improvement had I not read this book for the first time three years ago. Is the book available in German? I would like to introduce my German collegues to this wonderful work of fiction and professional development.
Rating: Summary: Very Enlightnening Book Review: I am one who doesnt much like to read. when I started reading this "Story", I just couldnt put it down. I read it in one weekend. It was written for all levels of education and turned on quite a few light bulbs!!! I highly recomend it to anyone who wants a better insight of manufacturing.
