Rating: Summary: Excellent Trading Reference Review: Master Swing Trader is a classic trading book that I've turned to over and over again since I bought it about 11 months ago. At first, I didn't understand all the concepts. But the light bulb started to turn on as I saw these setups come to life with great precision in the day to day markets. The book uncovers very subtle aspects of market behavior. No wonder a few readers have trouble interpreting the text. This is no beginners book. It is full of examples, illustrations, anecdotes, wisdom and insight. I have never seen a book that included so much solid information, given so freely. It should be part of every trader's library. Its like having everything you need to trade in one book, with no fluff, no filler, just page after page of powerful information and insight.
Rating: Summary: Getting It Review: This book is not for everyone, but a few readers miss the outstanding content of this release. I found the text to be powerful, informative, and more helpful to my trading than all the twinkie books out on the market. This book requires the reader's attention but it delivers, page after page. Fabulous job. 5 Stars.
Rating: Summary: Terrible, awful writing! Review: I really can't believe that anyone would give this book 5 stars. The writing is absolutely awful. The one or two slightly valuable ideas in the book are not at all worth the investment of money, and especially of time. Take if from an experienced "swing trader", don't waste your money on this one.
Rating: Summary: I do not wish this book on my enemies! Review: It hurts me every time I think about the dough I spent to buy this book. I thought it would have all I need to start learning how to trade the right way! I said "Learning!" In the beginning, I thought I was not smart enough to read this book... I bought other books like Tony Oz's and others! They were easy to follow... Then I did some trading on my own with small positions. Then I decided to tackle this book again! Maybe I got a little smarter! Guess what, I realized then that this book is nothing but a poor attempt to show off. No substance! No skill! Save your money. If you insist, give me your money and I will show you a trick or two :-) PS. There is no holly grail in trading. It is all about money mgmt and execution!
Rating: Summary: Outstanding Trading Resource Review: Buy this book and study it. If you don't find substance in it, read it again. There is no other book on the market that shows how to trade for a living successfully better than this one. If you are looking for a black box, you won't find it here. If you are looking for what it takes to make it in this business, Farley is for you. If you can't get your money's worth out of MST, read it again. I think the 7-Bell section alone is worth the price. The author shows how to do it, how to think about the market, how to understand what's happening in front of your eyes, where to buy, etc. I have studied this text carefully and profited from it. I recommend it to all my friends and everyone who wants to learn how to do it from a highly regarded master trader.
Rating: Summary: Tedious Review: Reading this book is simply tedious. I am only half way through it but it is just too tough to actually keep reading. Every sentence is a command, i.e. - follow the indicator, wait for the turn, buy the strength...There are no two sentences that actually relate to one another, just a bunch of mumbo-jumbo. I think he touches on most TA concepts but to understand what he's saying would absolutely take a Captain Crunch decoder ring.
Rating: Summary: A Complete Insight Into The Master Swing Trader Review: Farley's book compares very well with my favorite swing trading book, Dave Landry on Swing Trading. Discretionary traders will like the fact that Farley believes trading is more art than science. The Master Swing Trader still relies on pattern interpretation, after all. What Farley terms "Pattern Cycles," in fact, form the core of his methodology. Farley, also, makes ample use of charts and examples that greatly aid in understanding. However, the example-charts at times appear to be too detailed or "cluttered," but this is a minor complaint. This is a book that is very broad in content. There are chapters on "Preparing For the Market Day," and one on "Understanding Time." Candlesticks are added to the discussion throughout, as are those indicators commonly found in software charting packages. The best parts of the book, however, are the chapters devoted to the "7-Bells," one chapter for each, which disuss seven specific pattern setups that seek to capitalize on predictable crowd behavior. The "Finger Finder" (one-bar candlestick reversals) is just one "bell" example that could improve your short-term trading immediately.
Rating: Summary: This review will be short and to the point... Review: If you have been in the trading world long, you hear experienced successful traders refer to Technical Analysis of Stock Trends by Edward and Magee as the "Bible". Well, if ever there were another "Bible" of trading, this is it. Alan Farley knows what he is doing - he knows how to read and analyze a chart and utilize strategies for short term gains - and he will teach you to do so in this book. Kernan TRADEthemove.com
Rating: Summary: A hard book to follow Review: The book has a lot of material about psychology rather than actual trading facts. The number of pages in the book could have been cut by half easily. It was a hard book to follow. The least to say is that many charts have no reference in the text and they are left to the reader to interpret them. The book lakes examples that relate swing trading to candle stick charting patterns mentioned in Steve Nison's book.
Rating: Summary: HIGHLY Recommended Trading Book Review: I have read many trading books. However, this book helped lay the practical groundwork for my trading. Honestly speaking I had been a regular loser with lukewarm knowledge of TA, trend, trading psychology, etc. This book really helps the aspiring trader to better understand the knowledge of the science. I strongly recommend the chapters on the 7 bells scans and trades. All excellent and useful material. In a word, this is a must read book. I was first attracted to it at Farley's web site. I had intended on reading selected chapters and taking some notes. However, as I got into the book, I realized there was much more meat here. With my highlighter in hand and notepad, I started devouring this book. Farley's work reminds me of a college textbook in its thorough approach to technical analysis of the stock market. I need this kind of detailed background and writing style so I can properly understand the market and specific stocks. His charting techniques are fascinating and give the investor great insight into the future probable price trends. I highly recommend this book to all traders and investors, especially those desiring to get into the details of price movement and price prediction.
