Summary: An Absolute "Core" Read For Every Trader
Review: I guess that either you "get" or you don't it. Most folks I know, including friends at professional trading houses, think this book is one of the most important reads in the last decade. But some of the reviews I see obviously don't appreciate this fine work. I have no argument with anyone. Just think the detractors are missing out on a chance to speed up their trading by light years. Yes, there is a discussion about "intuition" and "using both sides of your brain". But to say that this is all this book is about is a misjustice to the author. Those comments are purely in context with very detailed technical analysis and advanced trading techniques. And they are so true!

To tell you the truth, making a buck in this business requires that you use both the numbers and intuition. If you don't, you might as well find something else to occupy your time. Farley melds the two approaches better than any work I've seen in years. This is great stuff, period.

Sorry that I can't criticize a book that I am exhausted from reading. The book is well organized, and the illustrations open up so many new strategies for me. And this is definitely not a dull and dry read. If you have a passion for the markets, you'll find your time well-spent.

Make the commitment and and read this book. I think the author expresses the current markets better than most of the garbage out there. Don't be in a hurry. This little epic will take you a lot of time to go through. But you will be well-rewarded for your efforts.

Summary: Thought Provoking Book
Review: This is one of the more enjoyable and enlightening trading books I've read. It is part textbook and part intensive trading strategy. The author's techniques are definitely geared towards detecting market opportunities that other traders might miss. His comments on price patterns are among the best I've seen in print. This is a must read book for all types of traders.

I like how the author combines observation of the crowd with unique, numerical analysis. He clearly has a great interest in his work. I believe his techniques are based on sound principles that may have been missed in other treatments of this subject matter.

Summary: Extremely Helpful
Review: Though I am mainly an investor, I found this book extremely helpful for putting together a better way to use my capital. I hope to incorporate some of the concepts into my financial planning. Never thought I'd ever be a "chart reader" but Farley's made a believer out of me. I may even try real swing trading along the way. Great stuff.

Summary: False Claims
Review: 1)It has been my intuition that claims of originality made in the very beginning are usually false. This book is no exception. 2) Secondly, this book is poorly organized. If you sqeeze away all the repetitions, the book could be condensed to less than 200 pages. 3) If you truely intend to try to grab any of the "new" "terminologies" or "concept", such as, "3D", "polarity", "dimensional relativity", "laternt energy", don't waist your time. It is my strong belief that they are all wrong. Actually, you will find the Author has had very hard time to hide his lack of definitive understanding of his topic, so that you have to forgive him not giving any of the definitions or details for any of his terms used in the book. 4) There is no "trading systems" described in this book, so I could not understand any of the claims made in other online reviews, concerning "systems". 5) To summarize, this book calls for "USE YOUR INTUITION." This is the only point that I agree with the Author, and so I strongly suggest that readers skip this one...

Summary: Challenging...and Outstanding
Review: This book challenges the reader to absorb its extremely detailed analysis and information. I bought it back in January and am still absorbing the material. Don't try to read it in one sitting or even in a series of sittings. The best approach is to take a few of its many bullet points and apply it daily to your chart analysis. The results can be extremely enlightening.

Its refreshing that a new book on trading could have such a positive impact on me. It has resolved a number of personal issues that had undermined my trading for years. I am greatly indebted to the author for this book.

Summary: Strongly Recommended
Review: The Master Swing Trader is full of examples, illustrations, anecdotes, and the wisdom and insight of a master trader. It includes so much solid information that is given so freely. This book should be part of every traders bookshelf.

The layout of the book teaches you step by step how to build a successful trading system. I read it twice already and keep finding new things I missed or did not pay attention to the first time around.

Summary: Read it and Loved it
Review: I would like to strongly recommend this book to everyone. I have been trading stocks for about 4 years and read almost every book written on trading. This book covers so many important elements of short-term trading, including patterns, indicators, psychology, cycles and execution. It doesn't only touch upon these issues but explains them thoroughly with excellent illustrations, I counted over 180 of them. If you're anything like me, you will appreciate all of the charts as visual aids for the teachings in the book.

I also found it to be very well organized. The early chapters required a lot of attention. But everything really starts to click as each new chapter builds on previous information. By the time I got to the excellent "7-Bells" sections, I could almost anticipate how the author was going to treat his detailed examples.

I learned a tremendous amount reading this book. My overall rating is 5 stars. It is well worth its price tag and you will get what you pay for.

Summary: This book turned my trading around
Review: I got more out of this book than all of the other ones sitting on my shelf. I can tell you this man puts his heart and soul into his work and his teachings. It is a must read for any trader at any stage in their career. Prepare to read this book more than once. It's got that much information and it's that good.

I want to thank Alan for everything that he has taught me and wish him continued success. I've turned my trading around using the ideas in his book.

Summary: Great book for serious traders
Review: Wow. I'm sure not everybody is taking the time to catch the pearls in this major release. It does start a bit slow but your persistance will pay off as you go. The author builds layers of market knowledge, one on top of the other. The end result is a complete retooling of assumptions, strategies and techniques. No, it doesn't work on all levels. But the density of well-thought out ideas is overwhelming.

Farley's book is required readng for those who want an honest and detailed look at what technical trading is all about. Too much is written on this subject by those who do not have first hand knowlege of our business and that is exactly why I am so pleased with this book. It comes from an active trader who clearly sees things a "little differently" than the rest of us. It offers a solid concise plan to start you on the road toward self sufficiency but places the responsibility directly on your own shoulders.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An informative and influential book...
Review: This is one of the most informative books on trading and technical analysis released in the last few years. As Farley so lucidly states late in his book "forget your college degree and trust your instincts". So should readers! MST goes straight to the heart of its material and delivers more than I ever expected.

Leave your ego at the door and take the time to read it cover to cover.
