Summary: There is no substance.
Review: I believe the 440 page book can be reduce to an 80 page one without altering contents. Most of the "ideas" or "tactics" appear to be borrowed from other books or sources, rather than to be gained from the author's own trading experience.

Moreover, no issues or ideas in the book are adequately addressed. There is no substance in it.

Don't waste your time reading this book.

Summary: Right on target
Review: I'm so glad I bought this book. Its cleared up so much confusion in my trading. Put me down in the camp that loves the writing style of this book. It is slow-moving BUT probing, insightful and very powerful. No doubt Farley knew there would be detractors when he opened a detailed discussion of negative-positive feedback in the first 5 pages. But the reader's patience is definitely rewarded. I'll never see the market the same way again. Great book.

Summary: This is the most important trading book I own
Review: Master Swing Trader is full of the wisdom of a master trader. I have never seen a book that included so much solid information given so freely. Somebody mentioned fluff. What nonsense. This book has no fluff or filler...just page after page of powerful knowledge and insight. I've tested out many of the ideas and formulas in the book and all I can say is they work very, very well. The book is great because it lets you see things from the inside out. It teaches step by step and every strategy has good illustrations. I've read it three times already and keep finding new things I missed or did not pay attention to the first time. Sure this book requires attention to detail and considerable thought, but its obvious that was the exact intent of the author.

Summary: Excellent and Useful
Review: I would strongly recommend this book to everyone. I have been trading stocks for over 15 years and read almost every book ever written on investing and trading. This book covers all of the most important elements of short-term trading and explains them thoroughly, with great illustrations. I counted over 160 charts and images.

The book is very well organized. Each new chapter builds on previous ones. I disagree strongly with those who believe it is a hard read. I found the writing style refreshing and very probing.

Summary: A GOOD BOOK, BUT WATCH OUT!
Review: Farley's book is good with some caveats. 1) Know your indicators in advance - this is not a beginner book. 2) Be prepared for an unorthodox (difficult) prose style. 3) Like everything else, confirm what you can of what he shows you.

Case-in-point - page 205's graph of Farley's original Accumulation-Distribution Accelerator has a post-dictive error. The indicator displays signals earlier than it really would (I plotted this in TradeStation myself, and it doesn't match up). You can confirm this by looking at the 1st apex (most left) of the indicator and see it spikes BEFORE the price does, because it is actually using THE FOLLOWING DAY'S "long-range day" volume in the calculation. This means the subplot indicator is actually left-shifted by at least 1 bar, giving a false impression on its early-signal ability.

Some good nuggets though, if you examine the book carefully.

Summary: OK, but not great
Review: A good book with pearls of wisdom but, let's face it, Farley has a pretty stilted writing style. Aggrandizing the language doesn't make it better, just harder to chew and digest. Being direct would probably have halved the thickness of the book (and maybe the price?) For some straight-forward writing, read something by DeMark.

Summary: Repititive fluff !
Review: This book uses many useless words and repititive phrases that have little to do with or explain the subject properly. It is unorganized and makes things MUCH more complex than they really are. Pages of unorganized fluff is the best way to describe this book. Save your money by all means and DON`T buy this book, i will be returning mine. Try toni turners books on short term trading, much better value for a fraction of the price.

Summary: Master swing Trader
Review: Great book for the intermediate and advanced trader.Well worth reading and immediately applicable. The reader must have some background knowledge on trading.Even for the intermediate trader it was sometimes a difficult read.Farley has loaded his book with extremely valuable concepts that are practical and in depth! The charts are great but often not on the same page as their explanation. All in all, a solid book written by a real pro!

Summary: This Book Opened My Eyes
Review: I am an international student so please ignore grammer mistakes and strange english. I must say this in advance.
I have read many books about stock market mainly about day trading and short term trading strategies they are mostly beginners guide or bible. Since I understood them, I started looking for more difficult ones and I found this book.
At first, it was hard for me to read, his way of writing was difficult for me ,though, I kept reading 3 times. Finally, I understook what he is trying to say. I can say that he could have written easier, clearer and more organized but this book is awesome.

inside of book, he tells all about technical analysis, which I am really interested in. Everything is in very detail and charts help me understand more. I have metastock charting software, so everytime I finished a chapter, I applied what I had just learned. Also he tells what every chapter aims so that I could know and focus what I am going to learn.

I have been playing stock market game (...)
and my performance gain so much. Now I can compete top 100 out of 10,000 players.

I am sure if you buy this book and stick to it
You will love it.
However, you should be aware of indicators and other basic knowledge of technical analysis.

Summary: Fantastic Resource...
Review: I would recommend this book to anyone. The author does an excellent job covering the wide range of swing trading topics and styles. His insightful comments force the reader to reexamine assumptions on trade execution and management. Both beginners and intermediates can save light years of effort by starting here first. His setups will work across a wide range of financial instruments. Buy it, and take the time to read and study each chapter.

Then read it again.
