Rating: Summary: Discipline Review: This book preaches the most important aspect of trading: self discipline. Filled with excellent analysis and metaphors, T&T is an excellent companion to add to the traders arsenal.
Rating: Summary: I can't believe how gullible readers are! Review: I saw the promos on the pristine service and couldn't wait to purchase the book. Not only did I buy the book, subsequently I attended a seminar with the authors. The book left me cold and I found no value wharsoever in the concept? or techniques? presented--nothing original, unique, or worthwhile. I felt that I must have overlooked something. The seminar ratified what I concluded after reading the book, "this fish smells." The spokesman Velez talked slick, dressed slick, and was slick down to his pin-stripe moustache. His partner Capra was noticeably silent and I realized quickly why. Whereas Valez was vaguely familiar with the workings of the market, Capra had no prior experience. It's amazing how little they both knew. It appears that these two rascals have done one thing successfully and that's duping the unitiated and hungry wannabe trader. After reading the book, I wanted to take a shower and after hearing Valez speak, I wanted to take a bath!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Times Don't Change, Do They? Review: I run a hedge fund and was looking at direct access platforms on the internet and ran across Pristine's book and their corresponding websites. The book appears to have been based on candlestick patterns combined with technical analysis that have been around for many years. It appears that Pristine basically puts new labels on old concepts.I love the markets and am willing to give any true new talent the benefit of the doubt. The best way to check good thinking on Wall Street is to see if there is any real performance attached to the idea. After reading the book, I simply went to their website and reviewed their performance. The performance was shown as if there was good performance, however after checking the performance more closely, it became apparent that there was very little chance for anyone to be successful taking their proven & battle tested advice. They have proven & battle tested advise all right, but you will lose all of your money following it. This reminds me of a recent old west movie I saw where the wagon & the snake oil salesman stop by the small towns full of ignorant people, selling them snake oil.
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: This is by far one of the best books on the market. It will teach you how to make a profit in the stock market. Make no mistake about it, Pristine have helped many traders make a lot of money in the market. In fact, they have over 65,000 members world wide. Read this book and subscribe to Pristine. It could be the best investment you have ever made.
Rating: Summary: WALL STREET HUMOR Review: Recently I had the opportunity to munexpectantly meet the author Velez and his staff including Capra at the Online Tradeshow after I had read their book. I am a second generation marketmaker and am very successful at daytrading. I must say that these people can sell to novice wannabe traders but would never be able to stand the rigour of Wall Street. Anyone on Wall Street would laugh at the claims of these authors particularly with regard to pattern recognition. This simply does not work. Furthermore, these individuals claim they have in depth knowledge about how to protect their traders interests from those of market makers, but they gave me wrong and ignorant answers to me at the show. Its just unfortunate for those ignorant wannabes that would buy any services from these bogous amateurs.
Rating: Summary: Kept me alive in the market. Review: I have developed new trading strategies based on your wonderful book -- Tools and Tactics... Keep up the great work. It is due to your efforts that I'm still in the market at all. I must thank you for the grreat insights you have given me. -Fred
Rating: Summary: Sell!! Review: As a professional Day Trader and a former Fund Manager I'll let you in on a little secret. Anyone who has a system that works will never tell you how it works until they are retired or no longer using it. It's like giving money away. If any of you have read the Market Wizard books, you will notice a common thread in the interviews with each trader - none of them will tell you exactly how to do it. Just like I would never tell anyone how I make money because if I did it may not work any more.
Rating: Summary: This publication is succinct! Review: I've been reading a borrowed copy of "Tools and Tactics for the Master Day Trader: Battle-Tested Techniques for Day, Swing, and Position Traders" The publication is succinct, quick, yet thorough enough to begin trading with a fair degree of intellegence. Looking forward to MY copy.
Rating: Summary: One Star Is Just Way Too Much Review: I am a professional trader for over 20 years and have just returned from the Online Expo in New York. It is utterly appauling how the short term trading industry gets away with not having to validate performance like the rest of the industry. Mutual funds and hedge funds have formal reporting standards, whereas services such as Pristine can thrive on pure "smoke & mirrors". Anyone who does not perform proper due diligence on those firms who talk but cannot prove deserve to lose their money, which you most definitely will if you follow any services that fail the true performance due diligence tests. True professional firms would simply laugh at businesses like Pristine and their owners such as Velez & Capra, which when pressed will not be able to back up any of their performance claims, much like most of the firms in the daytrading industry. I woiuldn't gamble a dime on these services which cannot prove the simplest of true performance measures. Its time for the SEC to ban these misleading businesses that give daytrading a bad name, so that the real players do not have to overcome the damaged and deservingly untrusting and rightfully so negative public experiences with crooks such as Pristine.
Rating: Summary: To question the critics Review: To the critics, although I find the content useful, I would like to know the validity of your comments. Regardless about his conviction history, please answer the following questions.1. 50/50 success/failure rate, this is not what they are showing in the performance table on their website. How do you come to 50/50 ? 2. Would you not appreciate the part about discovering one's greatest demon, because I find that useful ? 3. How do you rate anyone of the chart/setup of the week and why ? (They give you entry and stop loss after all) Regards,
