Summary: Fair for what's fair
Review: Overall the book is a great source of information for novice traders. The psychology related chapters are very important and essential for the survival of traders. The techniques are simple but have been around for many years, but nonetheless great tools for traders.

Now, let's comment on the very positive as well as very negative comments regarding the book. The negative comments appear to be from "well seasoned" traders with 10-20 yrs experience, that emphatically emphasize the phrase "I'm a succesful trader". Well, it is my experience that if you are really succesful then you would hardly gloat yourself on this attribute. Much less buy a trading book IF you are indeed a 10-20 yrs experienced trader! Now, that's hard to swallow. So, here's my grain of salt on these comments.

I'm very open to new ideas and this book will provide the novice trader with simple and effective ones. Now, let's make it clear! This book, in any WAY, SHAPE or FORM will make you a Mastertrader from day to night. This is a hard road my friends where 95% of people fail to finish! What this book gives you are bit and pieces of a never ending puzzle that must be assembled by YOU and only YOU.

My other comment is that most people fail to mention that 99.5% of the books out there about trading, DO NOT provide entry and exit strategies and simple trading strategies. This book does! There is a very fine line between technical analysis and trading. You can know everything about TA, but to put it to work on the trading arena is a VERY VERY different story.

I must add that I recently attended a seminar offered by Mr. Capra, and I have to say I was absolutely satisfied by the course material. I also realized that the book does not even scratch the surface regarding trading. As for the comment that I read on this site, that Velez and Capra do not trade, I have to say that this is simply without foundation, and at best a comment made out of bad faith. The two day seminar pretty much showed me what Capra knows, and let me tell you, he knows a lot. But what I saw was a whole bunch of ill-prepared and dreamers hoping to make big bucks from day to night on the world of trading during the seminar. I then soon realized that most of the bad comments might come from these individuals that failed in the trading arena after reading the book or attending a seminar.

Summary: Usable information and trade set-ups.
Review: Here is what I will say right off the bat. There is too much pumping of Pristine and it's traders in this text. Additionally, the editing was sub par, I usually can pass on a few things, but when the author is using $11 per share on one page and then the stock is at $14 on the second page it is a little distracting. Some indicators were also reversed which is just careless, especially for the price of the book.

With that said, the book has some good trading psychology, explanation and set-ups. What I really liked is there is a good explation of basic chart reading, along with entry, exit and stop-loss targets for various trades. There are many books on the market that really fail to define these basic tenets of stock selection for trading. I would say all in all that this book will make you money, although not as much as it would have two years ago.

Summary: Average at Best
Review: The first half or so of the book is very good. It tells you how this business is really...P>If this is your first book on technical analysis, then I guess one would learn from the second half of the book. However, if you already know TA, you won't learn anything new from the second half of this book.

The only good thing about this book is that it's not too expensive as other books on trading are.

Summary: Better out there!
Review: Please anyone who is thinking of buying this book, SAVE YOUR MONEY! The book is poorly written with large fonts and questionable money making strategies. The ideas in this book will probably cost you money in the long run, better books out there such as the ones by toni turner on same topic for far less money.

Summary: Great book.
Review: I agree with some of the other reviewers comments regarding the first 5 chapters of this book. Those chapters are certainly the Holy Grail of trading, not the few techniques introduced later which are helpful no doubt but certainly not the win-all, which if you read the first 5 chapters you will know that doesn't exist.

I found that this book was well complemented by David Nassar's two books and home study course, (How to Get Started with Electronic Day Trading and Rules of the Trade).

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who day trades, swing trades for part time or full time, but please do not make the mistake that other reviewers have made and think that this book is the only book you will need to read to be successful! It just doesn't work that way! Happy hunting!

Summary: What a disappointment...
Review: After buying and reading this book, I applied some suggested tatics on my trade. But the results are so disappointing. If you want to learn sth real for day or swing trading, go and find a better book.

Summary: Pigs get slaughtered; you're the pig if you buy this book.
Review: For years, professional daytraders have been saying, "Umm...you don't trade and you're teaching people how to trade?"

I hope everyone knows that the authors of this book aren't professional daytraders, from what I "hear." After receiving a lot of criticism from real, professional daytraders, they re-marketed themselves by saying they do trade, now. Currently, professional daytraders are saying, "Sure they trade...buy/sell 100 shares of WMT once a month. LOL" From what I "hear."

Of course, I don't expect you to know who these authors are or authors of any other book, unless you're deeply rooted in the daytrading industry, a very shady industry at that. Unfortunately, in this market environment, everyone is looking for the holy grail or a guru who will hold their hand, like a 5 year old, through this tumultuous market, and this is where malicious, self-described gurus will make their kill, by offering seminars, "services" through their website, and a book to take advantage of unsuspecting wanna-be daytraders.

As for the book, I skimmed through it at BN and all I could do was laugh. "Battle tested strategies?" The strategies of this book are basic at best. Here's a tip: Real, profit-making, professional daytraders (making a minimum of $5 million a year) will never reveal their strategies to the public. Never. And they sure will never write a book about it either. So, if you see a book stating it will provide you with the strategies needed to survive the market, look elsewhere because it isn't real. If you're planning to read it for entertainment, then that's fine. I have never bought a trading book in order to learn, but only to be entertained. Stop being the pig; stop getting slaughtered.

Summary: Excellent Book
Review: I am a professional trader for the past 3 years. I didn't want to read this book because of some of the negative reviews here. But I chanced upon it at the bookstore and decided to buy it. I found it great, particular the part on the psychology of trading. It is well written and worth many times the price of the book. I did find the methods outlined to be somewhat simplistic but they still do have value. All in all, this book alone is not sufficient to be a good trader but if it is combined with a good trading method, I believe one will truly benefit from the combination.

Summary: Poor Binding
Review: Within a week of receiving this book. The pages all started falling out. The binding is poorly made.

Summary: WHAT ABOUT PERFORMANCE?
Review: I read most every book I can find on daytrading and am a successful daytrader.Recently, I attended a recent Pristine Seminar relating to supposed Pristine Methods;I did witness the postive overtones & confidence of Mr. Velez, however it was rather shocking that there was no performance validation. When I asked Mr. Velez about performance, his tone completely went from having a good time to negative by intentionally trying to smooth over not answering me while maintaining the confidence of the audience. Realizing that performance is a "sore subject" with Pristine, I explored their performance on their website and reviewed every week's postings and found there were more losses than gains. Needless to say I am quite shocked as to why you supposedly learn how to trade with Pristine: it should be titled "learn to lose with Pristine".
