Rating: Summary: Hands down the best book on trading... Review: I LOVE this book. After reading this book I have full confidence as a trader and feel very comfortable about making money in the market. This book analysis all aspect of being a successful trader including the mentality and the money management skill that almost all other trading books leave out. If you are ready to get on the same level as money managers and become a "winning" trader - this book is key!!! Well worth the 40 bucks and well worth 100 bucks if you ask me. The money you make/save trading will more than make up for the price of the book. The only part about the book I didn't like was the first 100 pages which was a little more fluff than I needed to read. However, for a beginner investor, it is nice/needed. Also I thought the writting style was entertaining and not as dry and chalkly as other investment books that put me to sleep. This book presents many exciting and logical ideas that will keep your interest. EXCELLENT!!!
Rating: Summary: What everyone else said. Review: Seriously. This is a great book. Too many books on this subject are long on wisdom but short on practical application. This book is different. When you are done reading Come Into My Trading Room, you will have a robust, time-proven strategy. After a few pages, it is obvious that Dr. Elder is good at what he does. And he shares it all with you. If you only had to buy one book on trading, this is it.An instant classic.
Rating: Summary: One of the best Review: Dr. Elder's book is well thought out. It elaborates more on the Triple Screen and Money Management than his first book "Trading for a Living" did. The reader is never lost in this book. Dr. Elder's style of writing and explaining matters is simply superb. After completion, you will have a strategy, money management. Then, the book concentrates on Trading as a business and not as a gambling habit. This is a short review to a well written book and no matter how much I write, it wont justify it. Thanks, Dr. Elder.
Rating: Summary: Great Introduction Review: I found the book an easy read and very complete. I have begun to apply many of his principles in paper trading and I am deriving a great deal of enjoyment from the process.
Rating: Summary: Camp Training to Win the Battle Review: "Study Guide" parallels the book "Come Into My Trading Room: A Complete Guide to Trading" by Dr Elder. This second book challenging you at every step with questions that make you focus on all the important areas of trading. The best trading strategies, techniques, and tools are only as good as you understand them and use them. So this study book is very practical. Buy this book together with "Come Into My Trading Room" and take your time as you go through the questions and exercises. Only camp-trained soldier may survive the battle and come back alive and victorious. I highly recommend the book to those who wants to improve the quality of their trading. Alexander Petrochenkov
Rating: Summary: The missing pieces Review: CIMTR has been a turning point for me. I read Trading for a Living a few years ago. It was an incremental step for me, but still, I didn't succeed much. It was more of a beginner's encyclopedia to trading. CIMTR really hammered home the essential points necessary for successful practice. I especially appreciated the reduced technical analysis section, and more emphasis on record keeping, daily tasks, and frank discussion of real-world account sizes. Dr. Elder's definition of beginner, intermediate, and advanced traders, along with their account sizes and annual performance is excellent. No one wants to talk about this. Yet, it's so helpful in order to set realistic goals.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding Review: This is another outstanding book from Dr. Elder. He presents a realistic view of how tough it is to succeed in the markets, but he also makes it clear that success is possible with the three M's -- mind, method and money. I own both this book and "Trading For a Living" and I find each one valuable in its own way. Don't expect this book to have every single piece of information that appears in "Trading For a Living" because it doesn't. Both books are worthy additions to any serious trader's library.
Rating: Summary: He Had Me Hooked Review: When Dr. Elder wrote "the secret of trading is that there is no secret" on page 43. Indeed, there is no magic password for profits, and yet this book about trading is a must-read for anyone serious about making profits. I suspect this book will rank right up there with the all-time classics like Reminisces of a Stock Operator and the Intelligent Investor, and I highly recommend it to everyone! Don't let the word trading in the title scare you away if you consider yourself an investor, because this book will help make you a better investor or trader.
Rating: Summary: Must read for traders Review: I thoroughly enjoyed the book and learned a lot. And I was a trader before I picked the book up. I have adapted many of the ideas in the book to my own trading. While I do not use the exact methods of Dr. Elder, I did gain perspective for my own trading from his style. In the end, my trading success is immensely improved and I have far fewer bad trades.
Rating: Summary: This is a MUST read for all traders Review: It is my humble opinion that this, along with the author's first book, is a must read for successful trading. The book is wriiten in easily understood stlye. It is like he is guiding you as a friend. The contents and ideas are straight to the point. He introduces one or two methods that he uses, but does not really impose his methods. This is with the understanding that different people would be comfortable with different methods. What is so brilliant about this book is the general trading concept that he 'teaches'. The psychological angle. The best part is, he approaches the area not with scientific mambo, but as the book's tiltle suggests, welcoming you to his trading room to spend the few days with him, as he slowly guides you with a winning method. He does not promise any holy grail, just shows you the way that trading should be done. It's all up to us how we approach trading, but his ideas are very useful and helpful. It'll be like going to the mountains and learning from a sage, you'll find enlightenment, but it's all down to yourself, with good help from the author.
