Summary: review for john
Review: Human Resource Management has been the most exciting book I have read on management. This book has rejuvinated my love for my major. The book was well writen and organized. I felt that the book had a great layout, not much could have been done differently as far as rearranging the chapters. I do feel that the book could have had a more self test guestions and even some interaction or group activity areas. I also feel that he book could have spent more time on certain chapters such as chapter three, Individuals, Jobs, and Effective HR Management. I also feel that technology is changing throughout the world; therefore, the book could have spent more time on the inportance of new technology. Another problem was with chapter five the Diversity and Equal Employment Opportunity. I feel that this chapter was inaccurate with current figures and needs to be adjusted; also, the book does not give one who is looking to work in HRM an idea of what minorities good through. The book was also inaccurate in the figures for the amount of time allowed for reporting cases of discrimination to the state government. However, I do feel that this book for the most part is extremely accurate and is fun to read. A fun good reading book is one of the most important aspects for learning given it is factual. I will charish this book forever andlook forward to the next addition.

Summary: Great book for an intro to Human Resource Management
Review: Human Resource Management was a well-written book that was easy to read. It is a great book for someone wishing to learn more about the functions of Human Resources professionals. After reading this book, I have confirmed my major in Human Resources. There are three aspects of this book that I particularily liked, apart from it being easy to read. Frist, it is clear to the reader what is expected to be learned because the objectives are stated at the beginning of each chapter. Second, the book relates the concepts to real-life situations in the HR perspective sections. This makes it easier to grasp "textbook" definitions. Third, the authors make good use of figures and graphs to further reiterate the concepts. This is especially helpful for visual learners, like myself. In all, I would recommend this book to anyone wishing to learn more about Human Resource Management.

Summary: Objective Learning
Review: I believed the text book to be a great tool in the education of Human Resource Management. The book was very objective in teaching the aspects and procedures of Human Resource Management. The text would give both sides to the story. In almost all areas, the book gave disadvantages and advantages to using the policies presented. The text also did a good job of relating the material with current events. The text provided stories and inserts that related to issues with current companies. Therefore the reader is allowed to see how the material is actually applied in the real world.

Summary: Human Resource Management
Review: I found this book to be a great textbook in class. It is easy to read, and is full of clear examples. The graphs and illustrations helped me visualize the information, which was very helpful during studying and test taking. The book is very well organized. Main terms and concepts are highlighted in bold, which helped me zero in on important information. Not only was this text helpful in class, but it also served as a very useful resource. I used many statistics, website addresses, and illustrations for research in areas outside of class. Most importantly, this book gave me valuable insight into the human resource arena which has guided me in my business career.

Summary: delivered late and not what expected
Review: I ordered a human resource book and it took 9 day when you said 3-5 business days. I thought i was getting a hardback book but when i got it..it was paperback with small print and black and white pages. I have sold books via Amazon but this is the first time buying and it was very disappointing.

Summary: Where's the Beef???
Review: I use this text in a college course I teach and I would give it less than a C. The authors attempt to cover a wide range of material, but they fail to correctly present critical material even when informed of their mistakes. The book does contain links to useful web sites and is current on many of its topics. However, on the subject of diversity and EEO - they need to stick to the facts and not what will sell books. Too many errors for a text this costly.

Review: I used this textbook for my MBA Human Resource Management course in the spring of 2001. I found the textbook quite up to date with great case studies and end of chapter exercises. They were quite relavent to current issues and the ongoing AOL-Time Warner case was an used throughout the book.
