Rating: Summary: The Best book on Six Sigma so far Review: Being in Quality Profession for more than 10 years and having implemented a few Six Sigma projects, in one large and reputed MNC,and during mentoring Six Sigma I have seen many Quality Engineering books. Most of those are more focussed on theoritical approach not much of industry exposure but, this book explains each and every topics very simply and provide lot of real life examples in todays' Business scenerio. This book covers lot of examples on Service industries as well hence doesnot limit itself to Manufacturing domain. I would recommend this as a "MUST HAVE" book for all GB/BB/MBBs as well as Champions and Professionals.
Rating: Summary: Well-presented Six Sigma applications. Review: I've read many books on Six Sigma analytics and consider Forrest Breyfogles' "Implementing Six Sigma" to be the best all-around Six Sigma book available. It is 1,200 pages of Six Sigma program management and applied statistics presented in incremental stages of complexity across many different industries with working examples of production and other business problems to solve. Breyfogle understands that Six Sigma is more than an analytical and program management toolkit, it's a philosophy and an organizational mindset and this is reflected in his writing. If you want or need a single tome to be the central mainstay of your Six Sigma reference library - this is it.
Rating: Summary: A Statistics Book cloaked in Six Sigma Review: This book has 42 pages about Six Sigma and 640 pages about statistical process control. As such it is a good SPC reference, but thin on Six Sigma and devoid of implementation strategy. As the author of the QI Macros SPC Software for Excel, I periodically find it useful as an SPC reference. For up-to-date insights on how to implement Six Sigma even if you're a small business with big business headaches, consider my book The Small Business Guerrilla Guide to Six Sigma.
Rating: Summary: CSSBB desk reference Review: If you are sitting for the CSSBB, I recommend that you use this as you main, general reference book. It should be supplemented with more specific references such as Montgomery's, Design and Analysis of Experiments. BTW - The Quality Council of Indiana publishes a primer which is excellent as a test reference. However it is only good for referencing - the material is not deep enough for you to learn anything. Its like a cliff notes version of the CSSBB body of knowledge. Good luck!
Rating: Summary: Breyfogle makes a good Six Sigma book - Great! Review: Implementing Six Sigma, 2nd ed. by Forrest Brefogle has to be one of the most comprehensive texts available for any student or practitioner of Six Sigma. This book not only addresses the "hard statistical" tools of Six Sigma, but also the "soft skills" of team management, customer satisfaction, and motivation. No Six Sigma project can be successful without an adequate balance of technical and human skills. It is without hesitation that I highly recommend this book for anyone, at any level, interested in Six Sigma. It would also be an excellent resource for any student in statistics or business courses and research. If I could only have one book to support and guide me through Six Sigma management and projects, this is the one!
Rating: Summary: Don't Go to The CSSBB exam without this Book Review: Consider this text an essential part of your Six Sigma Library. While many other authors claim to have the type of detail found in this text, Mr. Breyfogle does not dissapoint. I've made a huge investment in Six Sigma related books over the years and have been dissapointed many times. Dollar for Dollar I have found this is the most valuable desk reference for Six Sigma. If you are interested in the CSSBB exam, make sure you have this book to go with your primer!!!! (The Tables are worth it alone)
Rating: Summary: It's a must have book for any SIX SIGMA specialist. Review: I overlook the 1.200 pages and I think that it's a hudge reference in Six Sigma. It's a must have book for any SIX SIGMA specialist. Thank you very much and congratulations for the excellent job. Adriano Barbosa...
Rating: Summary: Implementing Six Sigma (2nd. Edition) Review: What an incredibily insightful book for Six Sigma implementation. I recommend this book to all of our clients because it is the most insightful Six Sigma text ever published. The seamless integration of statistical methodologies helps project managers to execute their process initiatives and track both short and longer-term projects throughout the organization. The author displays great wisdom and insight throughout this book and his Six Sigma implementation strategies are awesome! This book is a "must have" for anyone wanting to gain Six Sigma knowledge and use it to significantly improve both customer satisfaction and their bottom line.
Rating: Summary: The "Go to Guide" for Six Sigma Review: Forrest's latest edition not only covers Six Sigma concepts in depth, but also integrates Lean Tools and a liminted number of TOC concepts that can assist users to select the tool that best fits the specific improvement opportunity. The roadmaps offer a step by step approach to guide practitioners from Define through Control phases. This book covers a broad range of topics - from management strategies designed to increase the probability of success, to the theory behind the various statistical tools. The book will serve as both an implementation guide and a valuable reference.
Rating: Summary: A "Must Have" for Six Sigma and QE Practitioners Review: The first edition of Implementing Six Sigma was the best book available for Six Sigma practitioners and quality engineers. The second edition increases the lead over other contenders. First of all, Six Sigma is defined as a system that improves business performance through cost reduction and revenue growth by improving all business processes and increasing customer satisfaction. It is not just a quality improvement system. Second, all of the statistical tools are described, explained and illustrated with real world examples. And in addition: • The Seven Management Tools to analyze "idea data" • Lean tools to reduce waste as defined by Taichi Ohno • Theory of Constraints to identify and break bottlenecks • Project Management and Change Management • Team effectiveness • Creativity are all integrated into "Smarter Six Sigma Solutions" to provide a holistic approach to business improvement. In other words, if you want to make real improvements in real life business situations, this is the book to show you how to do it. Also, if you want to pass the ASQ Six Sigma Black Belt certification exam, there is no better text.
