Summary: Holy medical book Batman!!
Review: Probably the most comprehensive book known to man dealing with diseases and medical conditions. I work in a hospital and see it all the time. Probably not for the layman though. Readers may also be interested in "Treat Your Own Knees" and "The Multifidus Back Pain Solution" too.

Summary: A "must " for the internist and student alike
Review: The 14th Edition of Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine provides the student and experienced physician alike with the most up-to-date and comprehensive information for the practice of Internal Medicine. As has been the tradition of Harrison's for decades, the 14th Edition is well-grounded in pathogenic mechanisms; however, it provides easy to read clinical descriptions supplemented by concise diagnostic and treatment algorithms.

Summary: "The absolute gold standard"
Review: This book is a "must have" in any Internist's library. I have read, collected and treasured every edition of this book starting from the 9th on to the present 15th edition. It is a cornucopia of all medical information that one would require to refer to, for any given medical problem! The shift to evidence based strategies with clinical guidelines is undoubtedly the best new change from the earlier editions. This is in keeping with the current focus of medical care. Excellent source on counselling for genetic disorders - another great addition!Overall, it is the absolute gold standard.

Summary: Harrison's keeps being an authority in medicine
Review: This book is a medical tradition, and it is as important to doctors as their stethoscope.
It is very complete, there is no doubt about it. Every subject of medicine is covered, and for a reference book is a must-have. It is also written in an easy-to-read way, but some chapters are more difficult to understand than others, and like a good meal, in excess it can get heavy and occasionally become a brick, so slow-reading is advised. Also worth to mention are the atlases, that give a lot of pictographic information.
I would recommend it only as a reference book, because for the USMLE, or as a course textbook, it is impossible to read it all, especially if time is scarce.

Summary: A MUST BUY for the future Internist
Review: This book is the Bible of Internal Medicine. Anyone considering a career in medicine should have this book in their library. Comprehensive and well written, it is the gold standard of medical textbooks.

Summary: Physician Assistant Student MUST HAVE!
Review: This book will become your bible for PA school and reference book thereafter. Everything you need for clinical medicine and more!... It [costs a little more] but worth every penny. If they have the 15th ed used save money and buy it, but don't blow this one off! Best of luck with your future career.

Summary: A must-have for internists & excellent reference for anyone
Review: This is a must-have for the internist, medical student or anyone who needs in-depth medical information at their fingertips. Medical librarians with tiny budgets, and cash-poor students, can save quite a few bucks and get a lightly-used copy of a slightly older edition. I bought the 14th edition and have found it incredibly useful, plus I saved $$$ in the process!

Summary: A must-have reference book
Review: What can one say for this bible of internal medicine ! Excellent algorithms, organised sections about the diseases with precise information are dominant in this book. It's a reference book with the ability to keep you satisfied no matter what you are looking for. If it's not in Harrison's it isn't anywhere !
