Summary: huge
Review: I received this as a graduation gift. It has tons of information, and it weighs tons too. I pull it out every once in a while, but for the most part I like the lighter internet resources.

Summary: A very complete source of information
Review: I recently bought the 15th edition of Harrison's, and very often I use it for research (I work in a general medicine ward) and studying. Very complete in all aspects, and quite easy to read, though it provides much information. I prefer it to Cecil's.

Summary: THE textbook of internal medicine
Review: I think harrison's should be the reference book for all the undergraduate students in the world. it is concise, yet awfully complete. it's my bible in my study

Summary: A must for any mid-level practitioner
Review: I've been in this field as a Nurse Practitioner for over 16 yrs. The text is certainly the "Gold Standard" for General Medicine. Excellent in Emergency Medicine, Primary Care and Family Practice. A must have for your medical library.

Summary: world wide reference standard in internal medicine
Review: If you don't know already this book, you are not an internist!
You may want not to buy it, but you must have access somehow to it.

Summary: A "must-have" book...
Review: If you want to be a good priest, you MUST HAVE a bible... and if you want to be a good doc, you MUST HAVE Harrison's Internal Medicine... I think that say it all...

Summary: Harrison's prinicple
Review: In 1998 I taught a class in medical technique for medical assistants. I had a text to teach yourself medical terminology. I went to Ingrin Medical book store and reviewed several books. I loved Harrison's book and it came in quite handy as I was hired by the hospital to manage their health care. The book is very portable and needs to be revised often as medical advances and new terms come into being. It is very easy to understand, as my degree was to work with elderly in need of managed health care.

Summary: Not For the Layperson
Review: Is nothing sacred? There are people who are actually rating Harrison's. Those people in medicine (regardless of specialty) will already know that Harrison's is considered the Bible. The layman may be better served with the Merck Manual ( which is less expensive and easier to read than Harrison's). Medical students would probably find Cecil's an easier read also.A layperson reading Harrison's would understand Hippocrates' Aphorisms in the original Greek better.
