Summary: "Cheese" is the first course, "Fish" is the entree...
Review: After all of the hype surrounding "Who Moved My Cheese" in recent months, I am truly surprised that this book has not gotten more media attention. It is an easily readable story that talks about one manager's challenge to turn around the morale of her new, highly negative team, and the innovative fish market that teaches her how to do it. Fish is by far the best book that I have ever read about motivating a team through creative leadership, and isn't that what change management is all about?

Many management books provide information on how to begin improving your work environment, but they involve complex analyses that no fast-moving manager has time to complete or constantly reference. The genius of Fish lies in the fact that it provides easily implementable examples of how to dramatically increase the morale of your workplace, and takes only an hour to read.

The basic principle is simple: by creating an environment where your employees are expected to have a great deal of fun each day, your customer service and business results will improve. The atmosphere of fun is created by redefining how you look at your current work responsibilities. Each manager that reads this book will find a different way that the principles apply to his.her particular work situation, and the flexibilty of the authors' message shows how truly brilliant it is.

Fish is a conversation starter and a life changer. No manager who considers him/herself innovative should be without a copy!

Summary: You be the Judge
Review: I was very excited when the book arrived. I had heard many stories about the fish market in Seattle. When the book arrived I was a little diappointed when I realized that it was only about 100 pages. I got passed it.

The book reads fast. The story moves a long, although somewhat predictable. The ideas and concepts shared in the book are very useful and have changed my opinion about my workplace. I now arrive to work much happier, I get along with co-workers much better and fell as though they are a part of my team.

It's a good book to pick up and read when you are feeling like you are stuck with no place to turn in your job.

Summary: This book is a great catch.
Review: If I had to sum up "FISH!" I would say it's short, sweet, and full of life. While it's a true story about rediscovering passion, fun, and success in the workplace, the four principles outlined in the book flow seamlessly into one's personal life as well. I appreciated the way ideas about work were interwoven with the story of the main character, Mary Jane. She is down-to- earth, powerful, and compassionate - the kind of person I like to have as a friend. I won't give away all the principles, but one in particular stands out for me: "Be Present." If you like this book and you're curious about what it really means to be present, grab a copy of "WORKING ON YOURSELF DOESN'T WORK" by Ariel and Shya Kane. Both of these books are about making great possibilities for life become realities.

Summary: FISH
Review: This is an incredible book! I have never read such a short book that will have such a long reaching impact on my life. Although it was written for the business mind-it has made more of an impression on my personal life and outlook. I think it should be a High School text book. Every human should read FISH and implement its four ideas into their everyday walk.

Summary: Highly Recommended!
Review: Mary Jane Ramirez has just been put in charge of Hell. That's how bad her new assignment seems, before she stumbles upon the inspiring management secrets of The Pike Place Fish Market. This effective little tale introduces readers to "Fish!" - the authors' prescription for boosting employee morale and productivity. The fish-tossing, joke-cracking camaraderie of the market serves as the workplace ideal in this book, which is easy to read but carries a lasting punch. We at getAbstract recommend this book to executives, change agents, managers, staff members, and students. Whether you are trapped in a bad working environment or trying to improve a mediocre one, this book will inspire you to get up and change your surroundings. Fish! will be one of the most influential books you read all year.

Summary: Energize Your Work Group and Your Relationships
Review: Put as simply as possible, FISH is a fun book. Because it offers a new perspective for finding enjoyment at work, I highly recommend it. Share it with the people you work with and you'll find it will add a pleasant new dimension to your work environment. But it's possible to add even more. I followed the advice of an earlier reviewer who recommended buying WINNING WAYS: FOUR SECRETS FOR GETTING GREAT RESULTS BY WORKING WELL WITH PEOPLE, by Dick Lyles. I'm glad I did. By giving Lyles' book to our team along with FISH, we have created a truly dramatic transformation in everyone's attitude toward work and toward each other. FISH shows how to have good healthy fun, and WINNING WAYS shows how to maintain respectful, yet effective work relationships. It's impossible to stress too much how powerful this combination has been in improving attitudes, relationships, and perhaps most important - the overall performance and satisfaction of everyone. No matter what your job or where you fit in the organization, FISH and WINNING WAYS will help you find more fun and satisfaction and will enhance your personal effectiveness in dealing with others.

Summary: Fish! A Remarkable Way to Boost Morale and Improve Results
Review: This is a wonderful book. I feel sorry for those who find it mundance and making them more cynical. The four basic concepts presented in this book are often forgotten in the professional world, and I feel if they were implemented and supported by senior management teams you would see a change in many professions. First of all I think in order to change you have to want to change. If you want to change then you will be open for ideas to flow to you to bring the change about that you are looking for. This book opens the mind and the heart and allows the planting of a seed for change.

As in any organization there will be those who are skeptical and I believe those are the ones we need to tap into their ideas and ask them what they would do to make the change. I do believe that life is a series of choices and we choose each and every day what kind of day we are going to have. We choose how we react to each and every situation which this books help us realize.

The point in the book is personal accountability. What happens to us is up to us. Negative beliefs keep us from living in excellence. Go FISH! Philosophy. I would recommend you see the videos too.

Summary: Quick easy read, didn't stink, didn't really swim either.
Review: I love motivational books, and read as many as I can. I'll admit that I havn't seen the Fish! videos that company produces, so this is my only exposure to the Fish Fi-nomenom! This was a quick read, and worth the time to read, but not really the cover price ($16 is a little steep for an hour of reading). The parable that the authors used is interesting (and I have been to the Seatle Fish Market), but doesn't really do more than wet the appetite. I fully agree with the concept that work needs to be fun, we should as strive for. Borrow a copy of this book and read on an airplane flight. -Accountant and MBA Student
