Summary: This management book is well written, humorous, entertaining
Review: First Break All the Rules is well written, humorous, enertaining, and makes its premises understandable. Avoiding the fad to fad management approach, the book reflects solid scholarship and is based on a huge database of interviews with 80000 managers from over 400 companies over 20 years. From their work, they formulated 12 questions which measure job satisfaction, correlating it primarily with satisfaction with their immediate supervisor, more so than overall comapany policies. The questions are arranged in an order to move from basic needs on the job to achieving your personal goals. Their statistically analyzed results have been correlated with four indices of a successful enterprise; those being customer satisfaction/loyalty, profitability, productivity, and employee turnover. By employing their proven concepts one can both improve themself as a manager, but also train others. This is a "MUST READ"

Summary: Proof that hiring talent is the key to a company's success.
Review: I read "the four keys" and had experienced every key on numerous occassions at Gallup. I saw how important it was to hire great talent throughout the organization -- my colleagues were far more productive than I had ever experienced in my 37 year professional career in the higher education and business sectors. Each associate's self-initiated expectations pointed them to strive to exceed their prior outcomes -- with personal best outcomes monthly in most cases. My supervisor was clearly focused on placing me where I could "soar with my strengths" -- I loved to come in to work every day to analyze, write, advise and perform client service. Fourteen years ago, I began at Gallup as a sales consultant and analyst and have spent much of this time successfully fulfilling the market research needs of my clients....I fit that role...my strengths matched the role and I was loved doing it every day. Gallup invented "first, break all the rules" and we Gallup associates were the beneficiaries of this philosophy. Why not "first, break all of the rules" for your associates?

Summary: The ultimate management book!
Review: It has changed my life! Everyone is talking about this book here. Noone can put it down!

Summary: Enlightning ,intelligent, interesting; intelligible.
Review: Putting first things first,I will deposit a copy of this book on my manager's desk! She is good but I am sure can and will be better after reading this open and candid book of managerial insights. My comments are to the ease of style and powerful content by the authors. The background information and anecdotes make this a new millenium masterpiece; thought provoking yet eminently readable. It is a true reflection of how and why the best companies continue to grow and develop as we embark on the year TWO THOUSAND. Though it seems trite, these management principles are not only well suited to the workplace, but to our general lives as well. Application of the four keys pays off in non work related relationships as well! I enjoyed this book, found it a quick read, and will recommend it to fellows in and out of the work arena.Bravo!!
