Summary: Must have to build your business in this economy
Review: Because I spent more than two decades in fundraising, I thought I had mastered the art of networking. Like many other development professionals, I was fairly aggressive in meeting people, remembering their names, and establishing rapport. Annually, I filled my desk with business cards.

Now networking is even more important for me as an entrepreneur. And in the last month, Bob Burg has given me valuable guidelines about networking. He taught me that I was a dedicated networking novice, and showed me how to become a skilled professional.

First, I attended one of Bob's dynamic seminars in Atlanta, Georgia. His novel-and highly creative-approach to networking prompted the audience members to think: "So. . .that's what I should have been doing all along."

Then I read Endless Referrals, which reflected Bob's comments in the seminar, and added many other tips. As is the case with his speaking, Bob Burg writes quite clearly, often entertainingly. Vivid case histories and anecdotes make his points memorable.

The book would be well worth the price if it contained only Chapter Eight: "Begin Your Own Profitable Networking Group."

Readers will welcome Burg's game plan for establishing and maintaining a systematic network. I know I did.

Summary: The Brass Ring of Success
Review: Bob Burg gives his readers all the principals they need to be successful. His writing style is down to earth; his principals easy to understand and implement. With Endless Referrals, your brass ring is within sight. Reach for it, grab it and realize your own dream of success. I give it a 10 plus.

Summary: This book will force you to re-think your skill level.
Review: Bob Burg has given insight into both sides of the coin. From the boring card jamming people at chamber mixers to the successful networker. He contrasts both types to illustrate effectively to the reader (who may be the worst at it)what he is doing right and wrong. His techniques have already paid off for me. For example, how to determine and locate "center of influence" type people and target them effectively. His powerful networking questions actually get the reactions he promises (and the results). Simply amazing. If you are not into hard work, self improvement, and admitting you have been doing it wrong all these years....then this book is not for you. Otherwise it is a must have.

Summary: Excellent, priceless advice!
Review: Bob Burg's style is positive, upbeat and entertaining. I refer to "Endless Referrals" frequently. The ten questions in the second chapter, along with chapters eight and nine have contributed tremendously to my success in various endeavors. These parts alone are worth more than the price of the book. With that said, however, ALL the material is outstanding; the ideas for achieving success in all areas of life are pragmatic and energizing. Bob Burg's work stands out in that way certainly, but also couples the road to success with making the world a nicer place by promoting respectful interaction. This book is not to be missed!

Summary: A unique book, both practical and profound.
Review: Burg defines networking as "cultivating mutually beneficial, give-and-take, win-win relationships" resulting in "a large and diverse group of people who will gladly and continually refer a lot of business to us, while we do the same for them." He includes marvelous material on asking questions (especially the sections "Ten Networking Questions That Work Every Time" and "The One Key Question That Separates the Pros from the Amateurs"--which alone are worth the book's price); on training the people who network for you (i.e., helping them to help you build your business); on successfully asking for referrals; on crucial networking etiquette; on the too-often-overlooked differences between networking and prospecting; on earning repeat business and referrals by giving superior customer service; on cross-promotions; and on effective communication. He also discusses what he considers to be "the seven networking disciplines"--e.g., giving unrequited referrals. In short, Burg presents a wealth of detailed, practical, eminently realistic advice. (Many passages conclude with a variation on the following: "Does it work all the time? No, but I can guarantee it will *never* work if you don't try it.") Beneath its breezy but businesslike surface, Burg's book also reflects a number of profound philosophical and spiritual truths--as evidenced, for instance, in the sections "The Five Questions of Life" (Who Is a Wise Person?; Who Is a Mighty Person?; Who Is a Rich Person?; Who Is an Honored Person?; Who Is a Brave Person?) and "Truth, Justice, Peace, and Love" (no kidding!). Heartily recommended

Summary: Guidelines to Profit-Building Networking
Review: Burg's networking guide is clearly written, well-organized in an easy-to-follow format. Each chapter helps you stop making excuses and become a master in the art of business networking to bring you a steady stream of Endless Referrals.

Could you use his "10 Best Questions in Networking and the Follow Up Key Question? Hint--none of the questions are about you, what you do, who you sell, or how you think you can help them be more effective in their business.

Burg knows networking manners make the difference between lost opportunities and sales building, so he devotes a whole chapter on Six Essential Rules of Networking Etiquette. Here are three: Give Without Expecting or Asking for Immediate Repayment; Be Careful Not to Annoy a Referred Prospect; and Say and Write Thank You.

Burg seems to know that Emotional Intelligence works wonders.

Summary: The best book I've read on generating leads
Review: Endless Referrals provides a wealth of information that supports anyone to realize that they have an untapped goldmine awaiting them . . . if they know where to mine it! This book is the best investment someone can make if they are interested in building a sales organization. The best thing about it is that everything Bob Berg says is based on high ethics and integrity. Thanks, Bob, for giving us such a great gift to build our businesses! -Dr. Joe Rubino
