Rating: Summary: Must Have Book! Review: This book is a must for any woman with PCOS. It provides all of the available info in an easy to read and understand format. This author is clearly concerned with the hardships women with this condition must endure.
Rating: Summary: The authority on PCOS -- throw the other PCOS books away Review: This book is by far the best book on PCOS available today. I've checked out the other books, and they don't even compare with Dr. Thatcher's in-depth examination of PCOS. I would even say you're wasting your time reading the others. This book was obviously rushed to print because there are quite a few typos, but they're worth overlooking. Most of us with PCOS have suffered for years with incorrect diagnoses, ignorant health professionals, and an unsympathetic public, so this book couldn't have come at a better time. I believe this book will be the key to informing all those doctors who *think* they know what PCOS is, but really don't have a clue. All of us with PCOS owe Dr. Thatcher a HUGE THANK YOU for helping us understand PCOS just a little better. I can't wait for the subsequent editions.
Rating: Summary: A must have! Review: This book is definitely a must have for anyone women with PCOS! It's so informative and covers everything you need to know. Whenever I have a question I always refer back to it.
Rating: Summary: Very educational book!! Review: This book provides a complete overview of the female reproductive organs and how they are affected by PCOS and treatment options. It is up to date with the latest information and research. This is an excellent book for anyone with this condition.
Rating: Summary: Too technical Review: This book was obviously written by a doctor and is written so that only other doctors can understand it. It would have been nice to have this complicated syndrome explained for the everyday person. If you can get through all the technical mumbo jumbo, then it's a good book.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Book Review: This is a fantastic book! It provides a thorough review of PCOS & how it impacts almost every aspect of your health. It's index in the back makes it very easy to find whatever you are looking for. For example, I recently had a hysterectomy. I questioned whether my symptoms would improve if I had my ovaries removed also. This book answered that question. It also answered my questions on what to expect after menopause with my PCOS. It answered the question of whether I have PCOS after I had my ovaries removed or not. It answers how my other medical problems interrelate with PCOS. It is a fantastic, reference book no matter whether you are trying to conceive or not.
Rating: Summary: Must have for PCOS'ers Review: This is an excellent source of information for both PCOS ladies and for women in general with questions about reproductive biology and functioning. I am impressed that Dr. Thatcher did not "dummy-down" his writing..treating the reader with a respect rarely found in medical books geared towards non-physicians. Great detail on the hows and whys of PCOS and of treatment plan options. Also offers resources for support, health care, etc. Highly reccommend this book to anyone experiencing PCOS or suspecting that they are (family and friends will like it, too)

Rating: Summary: Very complete and thorough explanations of PCOS! Review: This is the best of the new PCOS books out. After researching PCOS for months using research articles and the Internet, I was thrilled to find this book. It is very complete, with chapters on what PCOS is, (symptoms, possible causes, genetic factors) as well as treatments for PCOS. There are separate chapters on PCOS during adolescence, menopause, and sections dealing with fertility and healthy pregnancies for women with PCOS. There are also sensible chapters on weight managment and body image. Although there are a few chapters which contain an overabundance of medical terms and charts, they are good as a reference source even if a non-medical person doesn't completely understand them! The explanations of the various blood tests and exams that may be conducted are very helpful as well. I highly recommend this book if you are a woman suffering from PCOS.
Rating: Summary: Good and Bad... Review: This is the first book I have gotten on PCOS. It is good on explaining things but it goes into too much technical detail on how the body works. I would have liked it better if it was in more of a laymans terms. In my opinion this is a book more for a doctor then a patient. I do like the book, don't get me wrong. My doctor has had more use with it then me however.
