Summary: Back Pain?
Review: Great book and very effective method. This book inspired me to investigate Pete Egoscue's method even futther. I have had chronic back pain (herniated disc) for over 15 years and I am now "Pain Free" thanks to the Egoscue Method. I believe in it so much that my entire family is involved with this program. I have give away a dozen copies of this book to friends who are in some kind of pain or who have had to crutail their exercise routine for some reason. I encourage you to read this book and to check out the web site...

Summary: It Works
Review: I am a Physical Therapist and thought this book and his exercises were a joke; until I personally tried them and found incredible success. I started implementing some of the techniques in my practice and my patients had great results. I encourage people to order the book, read the first 43 pages to understand his philosophy, and implement his ex program. It works.

Summary: Incredibly effective but simple methods.
Review: I am a physical therapist with twenty years experience in soft tissue mobilization. I've studied numerous methods and techniques in resolving pain syndromes. I got the book on a client recommendation and was so impressed with the immediate results on myself that I started teaching my patients as soon as possible. Let me just say that both the staff and patients are benefitting. At first, the methods seem too simplistic. But the results are real. The Egoscue Method has taken precedence in my patients' rehab.

Summary: If only I had this book before a hip replacement.
Review: I am very impressed with this book, and as soon as I finish physical therapy for my hip replacement, I will start to do his exercises and I have complete confidence that this will help my arthritis.

Summary: Yet Another Glowing 5 Star Review
Review: I bought this book after injuring my back while weightlifting. The day that I got it, the spasms in my back were so bad that I had to read the first three chapters standing up. When I then jumped to the chapter on exercises for the back, I thought to myself, "that's it??" It all just looked too simple to do any good.

And then I tried the exercises. They're time-consuming, but almost effortless. By the time I was finished, the spasms - which had nearly prevented me from putting my shoes & socks on that morning - had been reduced to a minor ache. My back felt better in only a matter of days - after an injury that has for me, in the past, usually meant months of stiffness.

I've tried Egoscue's exercises on other nagging (sports-related) injuries and aches & pains, and I haven't been let down yet. Again, they take a lot of time, but less time - and far, far less money - than seeing a chiropractor of physical therapist, which I've had to do in the past. Pete Egoscue is a genius, and I agree with all of the other raving reviews on here of his book.

Summary: The Best Book ever for people in pain!
Review: I discovered this book after being in pain for a long time. I had a dislocated disc and headaches as a result of it for over six months. My therapist thought I was crazy but I did the exercises delegently. My pain disappeared after a week and hasn't returned. I've recommended this book to many of my friends. But unfortunately there aren't many believers out there. Just try it out for yourself. You won't be disappointed. Thanks Mr. Egoscue.

Summary: Good book, advice is quite spread out
Review: I found pretty immediate relief for my back/hip/knee pain after two long sessions. I didn't believe it myself. I was able to tie my shoe standing up, a minor miracle as I've not been able to do this for about three years since an injury. I've basically spend 25 years at a desk and have suffered many of the described symptoms. I fell 3 years ago and hurt my lower back. The exercises in this book have provided much needed relief.

I fully understand you have to keep doing the sessions. This is EXACTLY as you would with many other therapies, such as chiropractic, Chi Kung, Yoga and Codeine. As he points out in the first three chapters, surgery is not necessarily a permanent fix either, and doesn't address the basic problem.

I only hope I can make time in my routine to do this regularly. As others have said, each session can be long This is not a '6 minutes to pain free back' book. This is NOT a criticism of the book, just a realistic observation. However, if you have spent hours each day suffering from pain or scarfing down pain medication, perhaps it's time to look within and find the time for self improvement.

The only complaints I have with the book itself is that you often need to read it with a bunch of bookmarks and flip back and forth. The book is organized into chapters, one for each section of the body. Many of the exercises are repeated in several sections, but the complete directions for the repeated exercises appear only once. Therefore, when you are laying on your back, book open, trying to figure out where to put your right leg next, you need to turn to page 72, then 128, then 47. This is an unfortunate organization because the PICTURES of the posture appear in the text as needed, but the TEXT instructions appear only once. Repeating this information would NOT have added much more than 10 pages to the book and would have been well worth it.

The flip side of this complaint is that the exercises, once learned, are fairly easy to do and you really wouldn't need the book in hand every session.

I'd rate the advice as good, but the book needs a new edition that describes each repeated exercise fully. A big plus would be a spiral binding or some binding that allows the book to lay completely flat.

Summary: Cancelled my foot surgery!
Review: I had a neuroma in my right foot that was getting worse. The podiatrist gave me cortisone injections that worked for about a week. Orthotics that helped, but before long, I had to put them on as soon as I stepped out of bed or I could not walk. The pain got worse. The next step was surgery. But the pain didn't just end at my foot, my entire leg hurt. A friend told me about Pain Free. I began the e-cises for the foot. In 3 days, no more orthotics. In LESS than a month, I was using the stair stepper at a gym, and walking 4 -5 miles a day. I tossed the orthotics into the trash recently, I'd kept them "just in case." The only thing that hurts now is that I have to pay the podiatrist bill! The other day, my right knee were hurting, it had hurt years ago the same way. I did the knee e-cises and in less than a week, I was fine. Yes, the e-cises sometimes take time, but I'd rather get up earlier in the morning and do them than be in pain. I recommend this book 100% to anyone that faces surgery for knees, hips, back, etc., first. At least give it a try!

Summary: Suprising!!
Review: I had ordered this book for my back pain after reading all the reviews and specially one by Anthony Robbins.

A few days before the book arrived [I had to order it through a local book shop, I am from India], my wife hurt her right knee while lifting a heavy object. We went to the physiotherapist and orthopaedist. Both of them prescribed knee braces and asked her to do quad strengthening exercises. However even after 2 weeks she was still experiencing pain. Then as a saviour this book arrived.

I diagnosed her knees as ones having internal rotation. She did the E-cises for the same and after she completed the E-cises I asked her how she was feeling. She was amazed and said that she felt 60% better (now dont ask me how did she measure that). Then after a few hours she felt like taking an afternoon nap. When she woke up she discovered that her pain had gone away completely!!!

She started laughing and told me about it. The whole day she just could not stop smiling [Which in itself was worth more than 10 times the price of the book (including hefty international courier charges].

I am really thankful to Pete for such a wonderful method. [As for my back pain what helped me most was the "Power PC Users menu" in "Pain free at your PC"]. My back pain has not gone away totally but at least I am sleeping well at night now.
