Summary: Breezey Shadow of "THE GOAL"
Review: I like this book. It is a quick read. Finished it and QBQ on one flight with a meal. If you read "THE GOAL", the format of this book will be similar. The author presents the material in the form of a novel. I suspect timelines and other issues are accelerated in the story line, poetic license, btu the illustration of the key points are good.

If you are looking to put fun into your work, and create a high energy, lively, customer focused work environment, this is a good book to remind you of the basics.

Summary: Fish Tales-it works!!
Review: I'm the General Manager Don Freeman that this book "Fish Tales" refers to in a full chapter who worked for Sprint. The great thing about this book Fish is that it outlines in detail what we were already trying to do before learning about FISH years earlier. It defined it in a way that assisted us in bringing a greater level of understanding and participation for all our employees. "Fish Tales" now brings it to a level showing it works and can be adapted in many different work groups. I implemented it in our call center but I was dressing as Elvis long before reading FISH. This book helped me legitimize my creative fun leadership style with my peers and show that work is fun. The great thing about this book is that you can see in Fish Tales that you have to find your own employee culture and way of making the FISH PHILOSOPHY work in your own Company or Department. It will depend on the type of work being done, product and location in the country. This book gives many ideas on possibilities and helps to open the creative juices!! You don't have to be Elvis! I found the creative "Board of Director meetings" (mentioned in the book) and acting those activities out a fun way to get participation and great fun for all employees too. Go Fish!!
While having fun, it is important to keep the vision and purpose of your business as part of the philosophy. Fish Tales is a great book with wonderful examples you can use. It works well with other work culture initiatives too.

Summary: It's real. I'm proof.
Review: So I went from one organization that languished in corporate hell to one that is living the FISH! Philosophy. My life, not just my work-life, but my "real life" changed forever. As a bill collector (one of the most difficult jobs on earth to be passionate about), I used to be so drained when I would come home at night. I was like Dagwood... on the couch with my back to the world. My creativity suffered, and my relationships suffered. But walking into my new employer's office was like a breath of fresh air... Posters, music, smiles, people who gave a [care] about each other, even witty banter over the intercom system on an occasional afternoon... It changed everything.

The stuff in FISH! was the reason. Yeah, I know. It sounds simple, but it is hard work. And believe me, FISH! doesn't do it for you. It's hard to choose a great attitude everyday. But I don't think that's what the authors are talking about. I think it is taking responsibility for yourself-if you choose a bad attitude, just recognize that you are the one who chose it. [Stuff] happens at work. It's how you deal with it that matters.

The FISH! Tales book shows four companies that really "get it." They have begun to understand that living by these four principles isn't just some quick fix. It's a commitment. And it's hard work. But if you're willing to try, and keep trying, and keep trying, you will get so much from their stories. If you're looking for a "quick fix" - stop. IT DOESN'T EXIST! So get over the fact that life occasionally [stinks]. Try this FISH! thing, and make it work. It worked for me.

Summary: Review of CD
Review: The CD set is 3 hour
it has the feel of a bad Human Resource video on office rules.
It is read from scipts and sounds as such ....10 minutes into the First CD I ejected it from my Car's CD player.....
Even in a captive environment ......it got the "boot"

Summary: A Major Disappointment
Review: The first Fish book was really great, but here they have repeated themselves over and over again. It is the same idea repackaged. As a reader when you buy a new book you expect something new to be in it--not the same old rehash. The problem is when the first book is a hit, like Fish was, there is a temptation to write the same book marketing it as a new volume. Marketing, instead of a fresh idea, is what I bought here and I am sorry I did.

Summary: Integrating Fish and optimizing the workplace
Review: The Fish philosophy isn't new but the unique context and delightful presentation makes it effective. I got a lot out of this book because I saw how the concept is integrated into organizations. We have found that the best companion for the Fish philosophy is to train employees in Optimal Thinking. Optimal Thinking is the simple, realistic mental resource to empower individuals to be their best and bring out the best in others. I recommend both of these books.

Summary: Please, let this be the last one...
Review: These authors might as well wear masks as they write. Their books are featherweight-no real substance. I find it hard to believe that anyone but a true business novice could get anything from these two books.
If you are a high level manager in Corporate America, please do not disrespect your employees and make them read these books. Roll up your sleeves, dig in, and apply solid leadership skills. Having employees read books of this ilk DOES NOT accomplish the desired effect. These type of books are read and then quickly (hopefully, in this case) forgotten. These FISH books represent the SEE SPOT RUN of American business literature. Weak does not come close to a proper description.
