Summary: Simply Amazing
Review: After reading the article in Time Magazine, I purchased 'From Conception To Birth' for a friend of mine who'd just had a child. After flipping through the book, I bought a second copy for myself. It's truly an Awesome work. The pictures are mesmerizing. And, you don't have to have children to enjoy it. This is all of our story. How can anyone with two eyes and a heart not be moved by these incredible images.I really recommend it.

Summary: A Tribute to my Efforts to get Pregnant
Review: As an older woman who finally, after much medical intervention, got pregnant naturally. I am awed by the miracle of my pregnancy and enthralled by the knowledge I've gained about my own biology. I purchased this book and it is the most beautiful and educational work I've ever seen on the subject. It is a celebration of the miracle of pregnancy and birth that's not just a bunch of romanticised images; it boldly shares the thrilling detail of the science of this miracle. I recommend it to every pregnant or hoping to be pregnant woman and all of the men in their lives as well!!

Summary: From Conception to Birth
Review: Beautiful pictures! Complete overview of the development of the embryo (up to 12wks) from their size to physical strutures. But limited discussion of the size and development of the fetus (12wks to term.)

Summary: Highly Recommend!
Review: Finally, something refreshing. I am a 28-year-old mother to be and obviously interested in what will happen to me in that 9 months period. I either find scientific descriptions that run on 800 pages and not just scare me, but put me to sleep or 30-year-old photographs that are overused by everybody who touched the subject. This is a coffee table book with images that blow you away, showing even the inside of these little babies. I cannot even comprehend how they were able to show that. Very artistic accompanied by entertaining, easy to understand text. Wonderful in every level, made me feel amazed about everything that is going to happen to me. A must get!

Summary: Amazing, revolutioinary images!
Review: From Birth to Conception will satiate anyone with a visual mind as to the formation of a baby in the womb! As a medical student I can appreciate the detail and 3-dimensional insight into structural relationships within the body that cross-sectional analysis (used to make the images) affords. Tsiaras and his cast of anatomical illustrators make use of innumerable cross-sections, bringing about the most accurate depictions of the embryo. Combine that with the most advanced technologies in imaging and the outcomes are stunning. The book is great for anyone interested in embryonic development;a very understandable read as well.

Summary: Outstanding
Review: Great book. The pictorial value of this book is priceless, as is its artistic value. Very compelling and breathtaking imagery. Amazing techniques and use of technology to unveil and shine some light in the "mystery" of human reproduction. As a scientist, I'm very impressed and am surely glad my wife decided to pick up a copy of this primer. Highly recommend.

Summary: Not worth buying
Review: Having seen Lennart Nielsen's book a few years back, I was expecting to get something of even better quality now. Instead, the book just feels somehow more intimidating to me than Nielsen's book. Maybe the pictures are too big? Not real enough? They don't carry the information I would want, and almost nothing is explained in text either.

Summary: Confusing
Review: I agree with "Captions Miss the Mark." It's not clear how the images were made -- are they photographs, digital reproductions, or what? It already seems like most people think they are seeing digital photographs (I at first thought they were), when the TIME article makes it seem as if they are the artist's 3-D digital interpretation of many pre-existing fetal images and preserved fetuses. I don't like it when authors (and artists) are not honest and straightforward about their methods. It makes me think that their intentions are political instead of scientific. I suppose that the pictures are neat, but I'm worried that they are propaganda.

Summary: Thumbs Up from a veteren mom
Review: I am reviewing from a "hands on" opinion. I have gone through this process four times and I am currently beginning the journey of bringing a 5th child into the world.

I think this book is beautiful. I first saw it on Oprah, where everyone was raving about it. I had to go to the book store and take a peek. The pictures are beautiful. The book is somewhat similar to A Child Is Born, but each book offers its own unique stand point.

Since my first encounter with this book, I have seen it in OB/GYN waiting rooms. I even saw a copy in our hospital waiting room. I have read various good reviews. (even from PHD doctors) Regardless of the rave from doctors and the media, I found it to be quite impressive on my own. Life is one of the most amazing things. To see it visually, is just a marvel. I am so happy to see such detailed books on this beautiful process. I can't believe all that stuff goes on inside of me!!!

It's worth a look!

Summary: Amazing Pictures!
Review: I bought numerous books for my pregnant wife, and this one has the most amazing photos! The book shows many digitally reformatted pictures of the spinal chords development, genetallia, the brain, skin, ears....well the whole anatomy! It gives wonderful descriptions of the amazing formations happening inside my wifes belly!
I personally enjoyed the pictures of the division of cells from the very beginning. Please think about buying this book for your pregnant significant other.
