Rating: Summary: mixed review Review: I am a neuropsychologist (and Assistant Professor of Neurology at a major university) studying for board certification. This book was recommended study material. I found the basic neurology review quite helpful, but the discussion of individual diseases/conditions were mixed. It seems as if Kaufman has overstepped his areas of expertise. The lit review for many areas was sparse and he presents things as solid facts when, in fact, the empirical literature is quite mixed (and not having citations in the text makes it all but impossible to do fact checking). Other information is just plain wrong. The material in this volume is too wide to have been written by a single author. Kaufman would have been better off serving as an editor, having experts in a given area write the respective chapters.
Rating: Summary: Amazing...I love It Review: I am a psychiatry resident and this book was recommended to me by my program director, (a neuropsychiatrist). Buying this book was one of the best decisions I made. Its great. Extremely readable, with good pictures. Clear, concise with great questions at the end of the chapters and at the end of the book. I highly recommend this for anyone training in psych who needs to review their neurology.
Rating: Summary: Psychiatry Board Review: I HIGHLY recommend this book. It will solidify and clarify your knowledge of Neurology. If your are about to take your Board in Psychiatry you should buy this book. I also recommend this book to residents in neurology or psychiatry.
Rating: Summary: REVIEW NEUROLOGY FOR THE PSYCHIATRY BOARD PT 1` Review: If you read this book cover-to-cover (do-able) and answer the sample questions, you will know the answers to 90%++ neurology questions on Part 1 of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology Exam!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Even Psychiatrists Can Learn Neurology Review: Simple, easy to follow presentation of difficult material. Lots and lots of review questions to solidify retention of material. Still THE classic for psychiatrists studying and reviewing neurology. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: excellent Review: This is an excellent review book. It is well organized and is a complete review of all neurology needed for the Psychiatry Board Exams. It prepared me for the exams thoroughly. Excellent questions and answers at the end of each chapter. I highly recommend this textbook.
Rating: Summary: Board Review Review: Trained in psychoanalysis, I was ill-prepared for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. This book told me what I had to know not only to pass the Board (with a very high grade), but a deeper appreciation of the interface of neurology and psychiatry. The book has wonderful illustrations and great questions-and-answers. Also, the text is easy to read and, more important, recall.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Guide Review: Trying to study for recertification in geriatric psychiatry, I got this book. It contains the best teaching on the subject I've ever experienced. Wish I'd had it when I was starting out.
