Summary: BUY THIS BOOK!!!
Review: Buy this book if you are trying to have a baby, trying not to have a baby, or if you have the aparatus for making a baby. This book explains in clear, practical terms everything you thought you understood from your friends or the internet. I hope it helps me get pregnant, but I know it has given me control over the process. I understand my body so much better, and I thought I understood it pretty well before.

Summary: An amazing book for EVERY woman
Review: After announcing to a close friend of mine who was eight months pregnant that I was about to begin to try to have a baby, I was given a weathered copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility. I direct a women's health program at a community hospital and was amazed at what I DIDN'T know about my body after reading this book. Toni Weschler is a gifted writer. A public health practitioner's dream, she is extremely clear, distilling scientific facts to manageable pieces of information. She dispels the myth that charting your fertility, traditionally referred to as "Natural Family Planning", is a method used only by a select few who choose natural methods of birth control because of religious beliefs. Moreover, she emphasizes the connection between women's empowerment and knowledge of normal biological processes that are often medicalized to the point of leaving many women mystified. I would go so far as to say this should be required reading for all young women entering high school! (NOTE: I am now in my first trimester as a result of the information provided in the pages of this book. I am very grateful!)

Summary: pregnant first try
Review: This book is wonderful. I could not believe how little I knew about my body. I started "charting" just to practice, and got pregnant right away. Amazing.

Summary: Easy to undrstand, helpful even with PCOS and hypothyroid.
Review: I'm pregnant after a year of TTC. I have PCOS and I am also hypothyroid so my cycles are very irregular. With the help of the book and the charting software, I was able to show my endocrinologist what was going on and plan treatment. I was put on Levoxyl for the hypothyroid and Glucophage for the PCOS and over the course of the year my cycles had gotten to every other month rather than once a year or less.

I was able to get pregnant without further treatment -- I ovulated on cycle day 54, but since I knew how to interpret my chart we got it timed just right.

I'm thrilled to be pregnant! Every doctor I've shown my chart to is impressed with the software charts and asks me where I got it from -- from my family practice to my endocrinologist and now, my OB! I'd recc. to others.

Summary: The definitive guide to getting pregnant
Review: Every woman who wants to conceive needs this book. It's that simple. This book will do you more good than all the ovulation predictor kits in the world by helping you to spot your fertile times early enough to take advantage of them. Highly recommended.

Summary: Excellent Book
Review: My husband and I were trying to get pregnant for 3 or 4 months to no avail. I am the type of person who likes to know how things work, so I purchased this book. It was excellent and informative, just like the reviewers before me have said. I was pregnant with our first child the first full month that I charted. We now have a wonderful baby boy. I am planning on using what I have learned from this book as a method of birth control as well because I have a terrible reaction to the pill. I would highly recommend this book to anyone trying to concieve. It saved us months of trying.

Summary: All women need this book
Review: I wish I had been given this book at 17 years old... then I would have had a much clearer picture of what was going on.

I bought this book to get pregnant (which I am now 8 weeks along), but it is equally important for women who DON"T want to get pregnant! Also, it really explains and clears up the mystery of what is going on "down there".

Summary: HopefulAlmostMom
Review: I am a nurse, and learned so much from this book! It made the mysteriousness of my own body understandable. My husband and I can now effectively "try" to get pregnant, and avoid conception in an effective way that is compatible with our religious beliefs. It is written in a straightforward manner without too much medical "jargon" to confuse and distract the layperson. I'd love to thank her for writing it!

Summary: Wish I had read this years ago
Review: This book is the best resource I've found in the past year of TTC. I've consulted with 2 OB/GYN doctors and after reading this book I was shocked that my doctors didn't mention most of the critical information that this book offers. I am going to tell my doctor that he should recommend this book to anyone TTC. It is a complete and easy to read explanation about all of the different signals a woman's body gives at different times of the month. Signals that I've been experiencing for years but didn't know what they were. By tracking these signals you can understand what's going on with your body and why. It is much more thorough and accurate than using test strips or monitors. This information can also help identify specific problems with infertility or your pregnancy. This book is essential for anyone who is trying to have or not have a baby and most doctors will not tell you this information.

Summary: Excellent Start
Review: This book is a great start for any woman who just wants to understand her body better. It is very empowering to know how to avoid pregnancy without drugs, and, when the time is right, the best way to achieve pregnancy. This was very easy to read (even a little redundant in parts) but very informative. I would recommend it to everyone.

I would warn though, this procedure to follow does take time. Anyone planning on practicing FAM needs to chart her cycles for a couple of months to get with the system.
