Rating: Summary: What They Should Have Told Us When We Were 10 Review: Toni Weschler's book, Taking Charge of Your Fertility, was extremely informative in learning about the changes that take place cyclically within my body. I wish someone had told me when I was 10. A must have book for every woman.
Rating: Summary: should be required in medical schools Review: I first came to know this book as a self help text for new found infertility. As a medical practitioner I thought I knew how the human body worked - all I really knew was chemicals and graphs. Weschler's text is logical and easy to follow. I have used my new "everyday" knowledge to educate my patients and I am now in tune with my body's signals. The sample charts and photos are abundant and an excellent reference. The flow of the text is constantly positive and self-empowering. She gives constant encouragement to readers to learn more, ask more questions of medical practitioners and stay in control of treatment and preventative health issues for women. This book would make an excellent staple in every household library for education of growing girls and in every medical office for patient education.
Rating: Summary: The best book for women who want to understand their bodies. Review: An absolutely wonderful book, not just for women, but for men as well, to be able to realize and understand the changes a woman's body undertakes, not only monthly, but over her lifetime. A great book for those who are trying to get pregnant. A definate MUST read.
Rating: Summary: A women's guide to being liberated Review: Many women know that what there mother's taught them was not all there is to know about their bodies but, we accept the little bit of information they give us. Doctor's don't give us much more when we ask question's about our bodies either. This book gives you answers to question's you did not know you had. It allows you to gain knowledge and information about your cycle and pregnacy and natural birth control that I just never knew existed. I know this book would help my neices who are going through pubert
Rating: Summary: If you only ever read one book... Review: Fertility myths are debunked with solid, easy to understand explanations of fertility and reproduction. I wasn't aware of how little I knew! This book could substitute for all of the sex ed classes I've come into contact with (many as I substitue taught for six years) and do a much better job at that
Rating: Summary: Wish I had this when I was a teenager. Review: TW's book answers so many questions women have about their bodies -- and even gives answers to questions we never thought to ask. If I ever have a daughter, I want her to read this book.
Rating: Summary: Empowering - imparts incredible knowledge of your own body. Review: This is a very clear, concise book - easily readable and understandable. By applying this book the reader is truly able to take charge of her own fertility. From this book I have gained a feeling of confidence in my own body and an awe of the beauty and strength of womanhood. My husband and I used this book to successfully avoid conception for seven months, then used it for one month to become pregnant (also successful). This book includes clear guidelines for using Natural Family Planning/Fertility Awareness Method during premenopause or breastfeeding. This is absolutely the most clear and complete book on the subject that I have read. The knowlegde to be gained from one's own body makes this book worthwhile reading for all women, sexually active or not
Rating: Summary: EVERY woman should read this book! Must-have information! Review: This book should be required reading in every sex-ed
class. Toni Weschler clearly, frankly and precisely
explains how a woman's fertility works, where things can
go wrong, and how to (and not to) get pregnant.
I have loaned this book to every woman friend I have,
and will continue to do so. I will definitely buy it
for my future children (who will be conceived using
the information in the book!)
Rating: Summary: What Your Mother and the School Nurse Never Taught You Review: This book taught me more about my body in the four days it took me to read this than the entire rest of my life.
I have been using the information in this book for natural birth control (successfully) for almost a year now, and I intend to use it when I plan a family.
Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: A must-read for women concerned about their fertility. Review: This book is by far the best I have read on low-tech fertility methods. Not only does it explain in simple terms the various natural signals of the cycle, but it includes numerous discussions of what charts that are a little less than perfect can mean. It is written in a straight-forward,
non-alarmist tone, and outlines all the options, not just
the ones the author likes. This book is a must for any
coupleconsidering getting pregnancy. It can save you
a lot of time simply by arming you with information and teaching you to be aware of what your body is doing.
