Summary: I have been aware of my fertility patterns for many years...
Review: because I bought a copy of "Patterns-The Fertility Awareness Book" (Kass-Annese and Danzer, 1982) sixteen years ago. That book taught me the basics I needed in order to become permanently aware of my own patterns of change in my basal temperature, cervical mucous and cervical placement each cycle. Weschler's book, however, brought me up to a new level of knowledge and awareness of how to integrate these signals. I would recommend this book even for women like me who have been lucky enough to discover their own unique patterns long ago. It is sad to read the stories in this book of how mis- and uninformed many women are about their bodies, for example, not knowing what their fertile mucous looks like. So, this book is a great service to all women and may every adolescent girl be introduced to it or at least the basic information within it!

"I too am a rare Pattern." Poet Amy Lowell (1874-1925)

Summary: buy this book!
Review: while the fertility awareness method did not help me get pregnant, i did use it in conjunction with my theatment. first month into my treatment, i am now pregnant, after more than 3 years of trying! my dr & i used my chart to determine my exact date of ovulation, and it also reassured me while i was waiting to take a home pregnancy test. i was so sure it would be positive because of my temps -- and it was! this book explains the woman's cycles so clearly. the photographs and illustrations are particularly helpful. as told in previous reviews, it could save people from a lot of the anguish and despair that infertility brings. thanks, toni, for a truly wonderful and helpful book. i will use this book again after giving birth, this time as a form of natural birth control.

Summary: A book every woman should read!
Review: This book is not only for those trying to achieve pregnancy but for those who have taken their doctor's word as the almighty. My doctor had lumped me in with the rest of the world and told me to count back 14 days (for conception) and that's all she told me - spent about 3 minutes on the topic. After reading this unbelievable book, I'm not only amazed at my ignorance, but flabergasted that my doctor has never taken the time to explain the basics of charting, tempratures and cervical fluid. I just finished my first month's chart and after trying to get pregnant for 8 months, I now realize that my timing has been off by 7 days! This book is an eye opener and makes you feel in charge of getting pregnant. I'm canceling an infertility appointment (my gyno's next step without any discussions about my temp, cervical fluid or general heath)to give this natural method a chance!

Summary: Like Coming Home!
Review: This is absolutely the finest book on the female reproductive system (and being in the consumer health publishing, I've read alot of them). I wanted to get copies for all my female family members right away. I will even encourage my gynecologist and his staff to read every single word and recommend it to all of his patients. This should be a basic learning tool for every girl and woman; mothers should teach their daughters this along with the "birds and the bees" talk. You'll recognize in your own bodies so much of what Dr Weschsler describes, but she puts it all together so that you can finally see the picture in the puzzle pieces you've been holding all these years. It's also a fine way to rebel against the dogma that the pharmaceutical companies have been spouting to us all these years just to sell their products. We've been trying to conceive for several months with no result; we can't wait to try this technique with my next cycle! I canNOT recommend this book highly enough. You won't regret purchasing it.

Summary: Awesome!
Review: Great book for anyone bewildered by fertility. While not yet pregnant, my charts have helped my doctor realize something is wrong and move quickly into treatment. I learned facts about the female body and functions that contradict everything I've learned for years. And they all make sense! You'll feel so in tune with your body after you read this-it's a must for any female.

Review: I couldn't have been happier with this book. It exceeded all my expectations. After trying for a year,I became pregnant two months after reading this book. It explained things so well. Every question I had was answered! I highly recommend this book for anyone who is trying to become pregnant.

Summary: Like sitting down with a girlfriend for coffee!
Review: I was following the advice from the fertility expert at iVillage.com when I was trying to get pregnant during the summer of 1998, and she suggested getting Toni's book. As long as the book was, I read it in 2 days, and found Wechsler's writing style to be like sitting down with a girlfriend over coffee and chatting about "female" things. I had been doing some charting prior to getting this book, so when I read the book and checked out a few of my signs, I realized that I was fertile at that moment. My husband and I seized the moment, and that very night we got pregnant with our beautiful baby boy! I learned so much about my bodily functions that have never been so clearly explained before. I have recommended this book to many people, and the very fact that Amazon has 193 (now 194) reviews of this book speaks volumes. A MUST-READ for anybody trying to get pregnant, or just trying to discover themselves.

Summary: Read Me If You Haven't Gotten Pregnant!
Review: Toni Weschler did a superb job of informing the average women how to take control of their fertility. The book is well written, easy to understand and empowering. However, after reading all the success stories in her book - and on this review list - I want those of you out there to know that not all women get pregnant after one or two tries. I have been trying for seven months. But, don't lose faith! Your time will come, just like I believe mine will. I am thinking about writing a thesis on the subject of "waiting to get pregnant". If you've been trying, but haven't gotten pregnant, please email me with your thoughts so I can include you in my study: MeemerGirl1@cs.com. Thank you so much. And keep using Toni's method. It's still the best chance to get pregnant - along with a little prayer :) P.S. My gynocologist says it takes the average person one year to get pregnant.

Summary: Knowledge is Power!
Review: My husband and I tried for almost three years to conceive. We suffered a battery of fertility tests, which all came back normal, to wonder why we weren't having any luck. A girlfriend, who also tried for almost three years to conceive, recommended this book to me; after using it for 2 months she and her husband were successful in conceiving. My first full charting cycle, a mere six weeks after reading the book, led to the conception of our first child, due in August, 2000. I plan to use the methods described as an easy, noninvasive, drug-free way of birth control after I deliver. This book has been a Godsend, and I recommend it highly to EVERY woman, teenager through menopausal!
