Rating: Summary: Do not hesitate to buy this book Review: This is a mind-blowing educational book. It is a relief to finally understand what's going on down there and how I can use the knowledge to get pregnant without all the anxiety and guesswork involved in "stab in the dark" procreation sex. Very good for both those who do and those who do not want to get pregnant. A Godsend.
Rating: Summary: Mystery SOLVED! Review: As an engineer , I NEED To know how things work! Last time I got pregnant was a huge mystery, as I was convinced I couldn't get pregnant that month (I was trying) since I was in scotland during my fertile time, and my hubby was at home. (No gutter thoughts please! :-) ). I ended up having what I thought was a delayed period, that only lasted 3 days and was very light. 3 weeks later I wasi n the throes of the worst sickness (which happened to coincide with an evening of drinking guinness - which I rarely do (drink, that is) these days). So after realizing this wasn't beer induced, I thought - wow, I must have gotten pregnant a week early (as I thought that was my fertile period due to calendar counting). Turns out the fetus was 3 weeks older, so she was conceived at a time when I thought I wasn't fertile. I dismissed this, and thought that maybe I just make fast-growing fetuses!Toni's book helped me realize that I had delayed ovulation due to travel stress, and that I had conceived her a week before I saw what really was the implantation spotting. I was able to calc her due date, and it was on target with her EDD (though she was a month early and sized such that it was believable that she was pre-term). So here it is again - trying to conceive, and I use toni's advice, and voila! I had delayed ov again due to the flu, and sure enough, a week after I had my temp shift, I had 2 days of light bleeding - and then 3 days past that, my aimstick is registering 2 pink lines! Thank you Toni for teaching me how I work!
Rating: Summary: It worked for me in one month! Review: I cannot believe how this book tells you all of the things that every girl and woman should know. Why aren't they teaching this is high school? Well, I'm pregnant after 4 months of trying on my own. My doctor recommended this book and after one month of charting, I got pregnant! Couldn't be any clearer once you understand your body. It's amazing for pregnancy achievemnet and I would imagine as well as birth control. Buy this book!
Rating: Summary: I like to know how things work! Review: And this book really helped me learn how "I" work. I recommend this for any female curious about her body. I fully intend to give this to my daughter once she is old enough to swallow this type of material. I am trying to conceive, and this book has been really valuable in helping me pinpoint when I am likely to conceive - without the need for buying costly ovulation kits.
Rating: Summary: The bible for anyone who wants to conceive quickly Review: I found out about this book when I was reading The Unofficial Guide to Having A Baby (another book that played a key role in helping me to get pregnant quickly, by the way!) I was really impressed by the detailed approach that Weschler takes in explaining the ins and outs of monitoring your fertility signals. It's a shame that this book isn't required reading in high schools classes. It would save us all a lot of grief in trying to figure out how to switch our fertility off and on!
Rating: Summary: So I AM normal! Review: I highly recommend this book for every woman planning to have a baby, particularly those who fear they won't be able to conceive. I had convinced myself that a lifetime of long menstrual cycles meant that I would have trouble conceiving, that my cycles weren't normal. I wasn't even sure if I was ovulating. Now I know that I do not ovulate on Day 14 (which they told us in the 6th grade was "normal" - everyone ovulates 14 days after the start of their period). I actually ovulate on Day 21... and that IS normal. "Normal" is relative. It is also comforting to know that sometimes women have an "anovulatory" month. I just began charting, and I must admit that this book has literally become my bible!
Rating: Summary: 10 Times More Informative Than Most OB/GYN's Review: This book should be required reading for all women, and every OB/GYN. For years I've noticed signs during my cycle that I knew must be associated with ovulation, yet I couldn't quite put it all together. I had actually thought at certain times that there might be something wrong with me! Weschler describes in detail what these signs are and what they mean (including amazingly thorough color photos). After all, these are not usually things that women talk about with each other, and certainly not things we learn in school. Weschler blows the lid off any level of embarrassment by thoroughly explaining how detailed observation is the key to understanding ovulation. She provides what seems like hundreds of waking temperature charts, which further illustrate how each woman is different and yet perfectly normal. Perhaps the best aspect of this book is that it focuses primarily on fertility than infertility, although adequate explanation is given to the latter. Most other books I've reviewed have placed greater focus on infertility, thus often scaring women into thinking there may be something wrong that may very well be not. This book is inspirational and very positive in that respect, and is titled appropriately -- you really do take charge of your fertility after reading it. I was amazed that my OB/GYN knew nothing about this book, and she dismissed many of the observations I had made about my cycle, observations that as Weschler explains are the key to understanding when you ovulate. Most OB/GYN's tell you to wait 6 months into trying before they'll pay attention to your concerns. This book blows the lid off of that mentality. Why should you wait any amount of time to determine how well your cycle is functioning? For women in their 30's, a 6 month wait can be valuable time well wasted in a narrowing window of opportunity. I can't stress enough how valuable this book is. Let it be the first resource you turn to in starting to plan for a family.
Rating: Summary: A MUST FOR EVERY WOMAN! Review: This book is absolutely awesome! Look no further, this is the only book you will need on your body as a woman and your fertility! You will learn so much! GET THIS BOOK!
Rating: Summary: Buy this book if you are having trouble getting pregnant! Review: This book is a must-read for every woman. There is so much I didn't know about my reproductive health and how to conceive (or not conceive) without drugs. After months of trying with no luck, I bought and read the book and followed the really basic guidelines. I am now six weeks pregnant. Beyond that, I also know that I don't have to go back on the dreaded pill after having my baby and I can plan when I want to get pregnant again.
Rating: Summary: Saved my sanity Review: I bought this book after trying to concieve for almost 3 years. I thought BBT was a hoax. But I committed to it and this book became my bible, and after charting for one cycle I am now expecting this fall! I highly recommend every woman read this book for the information that should have been taught to us when we were 12!
