Rating: Summary: Finally, you'll understand what it takes to become pregnant Review: After having experienced a miscarriage at 4 months for no apparent cause, my husband and I were somewhat reluctant to start trying again. However, after reading Toni Weschler's book and understanding very clearly how a women's body changes and how her hormones must interact to keep a fetus from miscarrying, we decided to try for a baby again. Toni advices that a women must take accurate recordings of her temperature, her cervical fluid, and (optionally) check the opening of her cervix. I did all of these things even though I though it really was going to be somewhat bothersome. After a few days, however,I found myself looking forward to finding out what my body was doing.Toni provides color photos (!) and examples of every kind of chart imaginable. Surprisingly, I found out that when I started charting, that my ovulation was earlier than usual. As such, my husband and I decided to try for a baby on the days recommended by Toni. The good news is that we're pregnant and that I now understand that my hormones are naturally at the appropriate levels for me to continue this pregnancy to term. Though it doesn't explain why I miscarried the first time, it does rule out a deficiency of any of the important hormones which could cause a miscarriage. I strongly recommend this book to all women who really want to understand their reproductive health.
Rating: Summary: READ THIS BOOK NOW! Review: I am so grateful that another reader recommended a book to me from Amazon.com because I found this one instead! If I had known the information in this book a year ago, I'm sure I'd already be pregnant or at least know why I'm not. This book tells you everything you need to know in order to know your body and understand why it does what it does and when to expect what. I have begun my first charted cycle and am so excited that I actually know what to look for any why. My husband must be tired of hearing, "know what I learned today from my book! " I recommend this book to any woman...single, married, trying or not....read it and recommend it to all of the women you know!
Rating: Summary: got pregnant after reading the book Review: this book is great! after reading the book we conceived the first month - we were able to target our day so easily with the book's guidance. even if you aren't trying to get pregnant it is a must read for all women who want to know more about their body.
Rating: Summary: There is no way to recommend this book highly enough. Review: I approached this book with a little skepticism. I thought I had a good grasp on biology and physiology and reproduction through high school and college classes - and I did. Theoretically. What all those classes didn't teach me is how to understand what my own, individual, unique body was doing. I've read some reviews that say the book didn't cover anything the person didn't learn in a high school health class - I think that's rubbish. Sure, the theory is about the same, but it's knowing how to make the transition from theory to practice that makes all the difference. No class ever taught me that, and I found that my knowledge of the theoretical, average, cycle was causing timing problems! We tried to get pregnant for two years, unsuccessfully. We had almost gotten to the point of becoming resigned to not having children. I saw this book as about my last chance. After reading the book and charting for a couple of cycles, I was able to identify why we were probably having difficulties. I made the necessary changes, and eight weeks later, I got pregnant. The book is very well-written, practical and comprehensive. It's suitable for reading cover to cover or using it as a reference. I think it should be required reading for every girl and woman, whether sexually active or not, trying to get pregnant or trying to prevent it. I wish I had known about this book before I ingested seven years' worth of hormones to avoid pregnancy.
Rating: Summary: A book every women should own, conceiving or not conceiving! Review: I had heard about charting my cycles from friends online. I had a miscarriage in January and was wanting to try again. After 4 months I borrowed this book from the library and after reading, knew I had to own my own copy. Whether you are trying to conceive or not, you need this book. I have learned so much about my body and when I need to try to conceive. The first cycle we tried, after reading this book, we tested positive. But by charting my cycles and with the help of this book, I knew three days before, that I was again going to miscarry. The book told me the signs. I am now trying again this cycle, with hopes that I can carry this one. But if it were not for this book, I would still be in the dark as to why I can't get pregnant. It is all in the timing. I recommend this book to everyone I know that is trying to conceive or having fertility problems. They may not be problems at all! Thank you Toni!
Rating: Summary: No Woman Should be Without This Book Review: I purchased this book believing it would take me a few months at least to become pregant, but during my first cycle of charting I became pregnant. Aside from trying to become pregnant, I will also use FAM as my birth control alternative. If nothing else, I believe every woman who reads Toni's book will be more knowledgable about and appreciate her own body.
Rating: Summary: FERTILITY PROBLEMS? Review: This book is full of information and I feel so knowledgeable about my own cycle. I am newly married and don't want to have children now and have never been pregnant. I feel assured that I am ovulating successfully every month, which is great because I've had some serious health problems. Of course, I don't know if I could carry a baby to term, but at least the basics are working! I gave this book 4 instead of 5 stars only because the way it the information is organzied. She begins with lots and lots of history and opinions and you're dying to get to the part about your cycle, which doesn't come for a while. She also mentions things in the beginning without explaining what they are. So, read it as many times as you need to get it. If you have fertility problems I highly recommend "The Cure For All Diseases" by Dr. Hulda Clark. I was very ill and got well from this book. Dr. Clark has done some amazing research on fertility. A diseased and polluted body will not be able to pro-create. If you follow her suggestions, you can get well.
Rating: Summary: A book for every woman Review: I bought Taking Charge of Your Fertility to help my attempts to get pregnant following a tentative diagnosis of endometriosis (I conceived my beautiful little son in the second month of trying!). I was amazed by the wealth of information not only on getting pregnant (or not) but also on all those mysterious changes that happen during the cycle. Whether pregnancy is an issue for you or not, every woman can benefit from a better understanding of her reproductive health. Everything is explained clearly, with very helpful illustrations including colour photographs of the different kinds of cervical fluids, and detailed discussions of "atypical" fertility cycles and what they mean. Although Weschler discusses using FAM to avoid pregnancy, she doesn't lay on the guilt for couples who choose artificial methods. Rather, she gives you the information you need about to make a truly informed choice among the different options.
Rating: Summary: The best information on women's cycles you'll ever find! Review: I thought I already knew quite a bit about women's cycles. Boy was I wrong! This book is packed with info about so many things I wasn't aware of. It is very well written, easy to understand and very enlightening. If you really want to understand your cycle and avoid or achieve pregnancy then this book is a must!

I received it on a Friday afternoon and had finished reading it by Sunday. This 400-page manual is an excellent read. It is jam-packed with great information for both pregnancy achievement and birth control. I am now trying the book's method which has given me an insite into my ovulation patterns.
