Summary: Now My Body Makes Sense!
Review: I downloaded [a] free Lifecycle Fertility Predictor program... and have been using it for about a month. Some of the symptoms were difficult for me to interpret, so I thought I'd better get this book, since it was so highly recommended. TCOYF explains everything and leaves nothing to speculation. For example, I've found that what I defined as my period is really just spotting and my lubricating cervical mucus was actually dry sticky mucus. The pictures make that very clear! I can now use the fertility program with confidence (or even wing it on my own, but the program is much more fun).

Summary: A very empowering book!
Review: This book was the best investment I could have made while trying to get pregnant. It helped me figure out what my body was doing or not doing. With the knowledge that I gained by reading this book I was able to help my fertility doctor skip a few preliminaries. I knew that my body was not ovulating, so we were able to start on a fertility therapy right away. I can not express the importance of being informed and knowledgable. This book is so well written that anyone will be able to understand the way a womens body should work. I was able to get pregnant, and carry to term, the first month! This really is a must have for every woman desiring a child.

Summary: If you're having fun, you're not doing it right
Review: If you're looking for a way to turn the exciting and romantic prospect of conceiving into a clinical examination of temperatures and cervical fluids, this is the book for you. Check your cervical fluid three times a day! Focus on its *quality*! Dry, sticky, creamy, slippery? Focus on your vaginal sensations during the day! Don't have fun, this is a baby you're trying to make here!

And don't forget the ancedote about Vanessa and Max. You're ovulating, but your husband just had surgery, is filled with painkillers and sex is the last thing on his mind? Tell him you can take care of things yourself, and force yourself on him!

Summary: Sound information and clear instructions...
Review: I bought this book a week ago and so I'm afraid I cannot (yet) echo the glowing testimonials of some of the other reviewers who could claim that "Taking Charge..." helped them to conceive after years of failed attempts. However, I do feel qualified to deem it well-written and extremely informative.

Like another Canadian reviewer, I too was taught much of this fertility information while in junior high school. However, since I did not become sexually active until the age of...well... many years later, I had forgotten much of it by the time I needed to use it in my own life.

But I suspect that even people who have been taught this information in the past and managed to retain some of it would do well to buy a copy of "Taking Charge" just to have as a reference book (you know... Rogets Thesaurus, Oxford Concise, Chamber's Etymology right next to "Taking Charge of your Fertility...") Seriously, most of us women are sadly out of touch with how our bodies really function and how to work WITH our reproductive systems rather than AGAINST them in order to avoid or achieve pregnancy.

I am no hippy chick. I was on the pill for more than a decade, and have quite happily submitted my body to all sorts of unnatural activities, substances, chemicals, etc. But even a modern girl like me will really benefit from curling up in bed with a copy of this tome.

Summary: Toni Weschler helped me more than any doctor
Review: After struggling for over 15 years with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, I knew I'd have trouble conceiving. I had irregular cycles and had no way of predicting when or if I would ovulate. I began to chart my temperatures, and my Reproductive Endocrinologist said "don't bother - charting is useless for women with PCOS." Was she ever wrong! I read Toni's book on the recommendation of several friends, and it changed my life. Not only can I tell when I ovulate, but I can predict it up to 2 days in advance! I may not ovulate regualarly, but I am able to tell every time when I have. Once my husband and I straighten out our male factor infertility, I have no doubt we will achieve pregnancy more easily thanks to using FAM to predict my ovulation. Thank you, Toni, for teaching me that my body works the way it is supposed to (even if not as often as it is supposed to.) Reading this book and learning this method has empowered me by demystifying the menstrual cycle and allowing me to take back control of my own fertility.

Summary: Great Information on NFP
Review: As a woman coming off birth control pills, I read just about anything I could get my hands on, as well as thousands of blurbs from internet searches. "Taking Charge" provided me with the best information!! I am actively AVOIDING pregancy, and the 4 methods explained in this book are easy to read, understand, and practice.

Summary: I highly recommend this book!
Review: I think every woman should read this book, even if she's not trying to conceive, because it is an education in how the female reproductive system works. It's amazing how little we know about our own bodies. When I was reading it, I told a few women about the fertility signs described in the book, and most said, "Oh, I've had that; I though it was an infection!"

As to the effectiveness of this method in my life-- my periods have always been irregular, and I didn't know how often I was ovulating or whether I'd be able to conceive, so when I started trying, I bought this book. The first cycle I charted, I was able to tell when I was fertile, and now I am three months pregnant! If I wasn't using this book, it might have taken me many months of trying. It also would have been harder to know when I got pregnant. I know the day I conceived, and when I showed my chart to the doctor and said, "See, here's the day," she was very impressed.

Summary: Very motivating
Review: As a woman with endometriosis I felt very discouraged when my husband and I discussed starting a family. I just knew that I'd never get pregnant. This book motivated me, and helped me to learn more about my own physiology. I began to pay attention to what was happening in my body. We got pregnant on the first try!

Summary: Taking Charge of Your Fertility
Review: This book is wonderful. My wife and I read it and we put all of the information that we learned to good use. We documented all of the important information on the fertility chart, and to our great suprise we became pregnant on our first try. This book really showed us how to determine the most fertile time for the best chance of conception. It also told us that most women have longer cycles than 28 days. The book will hopefully give you the information needed so you to can be as successful as we have been.
