Summary: It's okay, but still no magic pill...
Review: This book really helps you understand the female body and what it takes to get pregnant. I didn't really care for the style of writting the author used, but the information is very good.

HOWEVER, she very much glosses over the fact that if you have waited to have children (like me)and are into your 30s or beyond, it will still take many months of trying. Even if you do everything right and you are in your 30s you only have a 15-20% chance of getting pregnant each month

Read this book for great information, but if you are 30 or over you still may need medical intervention or many months of trying.

Summary: Every woman should read this book!
Review: Don't be frightened by the title! This book is for all women who want to understand their cycles better! Don't accept the mysterious fate of menstruation! Know your cycle!

Living in Czech Republic, resources in English our limited. Fortunately I received this book as a wedding present. Thanks to this book, I DIDN'T take the advice of a dr. who suggested I get a hormonal injection to induce my period. I'm happily along in my pregnancy and all along I knew exactly what was happening to my body!

Summary: A MUST-HAVE for women of ALL ages!
Review: I have been following the practices of TCOYF for 6 months now, and although we are not pregnant yet, we know now that I do not ovulate every month and most likely have a very easily-treated condition that is causing anovulatory cycles. When I do ovulate, I am ovulating normally and later in the cycle than I would have thought, so that is a great thing to learn when you are planning on getting pregnant! There is also a great website that is newly affiliated with this book (the newer editions) that has great bulletin boards and free software that allows you to chart your cycles right on your computer, too!

I am so glad to have gotten a recommendation to read/use TCOYF... it may have taken a lot longer to discover the problems associated with what I thought was infertility, and I may have been one of those many women who are told that "you may never have children." Thank Goodness for TCOYF!

The charting system is also much easier than I ever thought it would be. Once you get the basics down, it's so simple!

Good luck to all who are ttc'ing (trying to conceive)!!!

Summary: Great Book!!!
Review: I have been using the Fertility Awareness Method for birth control for over two years. Just decided 2 weeks ago to try to have a baby, and I tested positive today!! BUY THIS BOOK!

Summary: Got to get it!
Review: I love to do things "scientifically", so when I wanted to get pregnant, I went out and got a book that would tell me how to do it! I started charting, using the methods in this book, and could understand exactly what was happening in my body. The first month of trying, I got pregnant. Than, when my first son was 9 months old, I started trying again. Once again, instant success!

I know it's not that easy for everyone, as some people have fertility difficulties that might need a doctor's treatment...reading this book can help you know when you need extra help. If you enjoy being empowered, like me, you have got to get this book! Plus, I knew from charting that I ovulated much later than normal (due to stopping the pill). This was helpful to know when talking to my doctor. If my pregnancy was dated using traditional methods, it would've been 2 weeks off. Instead, I could pinpoint the date of conception...and later ultrasounds confirmed it!

Summary: A Book That Helped Me Learn How My Body Works!!!!
Review: This book explained so many things to me that no one ever did. I learned so many things about my cycle and the changes it goes thru each month.

This book gave me the knowledge I needed to know to conceive my daughter, who is now 17 months. I was also able to spot some potential problems as a result of reading this book.

I highly recommend purchasing this book to any woman who wishes to learn more about her body!

Summary: Pregnant within 3 months
Review: After being on birth control pills for >10 years, I went off of them and onto prenatal vitamins 6 months before my husband and I planned to start trying to get pregnant. I needed a form of birth control to use during those six months and chose to read this book as it had been highly recommended. To begin with, it was a great refresher on how reproduction works--it's amazing how much you forget over the years! Secondly, it was not nearly as much of a chore to track my temperature & fluid as I thought it would be; it was actually kind of fun to see what was happening after 10 years on the Pill. I quickly learned that my cycles were not normal; although I was ovulating and my cycles were a typical 28 days, ovulation was occurring very late in my cycle. Knowing this was crucial for both avoiding pregnancy during those first 6 months and achieving pregnancy after that. Having "mid-cycle intercourse," as my doctor had recommended, never would have worked for us! Instead we were able to time it right and after 3 months of trying, we are pregnant and thrilled!

Summary: Excellent Source of Information
Review: I bought this book before my husband and I decided to try. I bought it so I could quit using birth control pills as my method of protection. Well, I never stopped taking the pills until I decided to get pregnant. However, after reading all that information regarding my cycle and my body I was very prepared. I stopped taking the pills in November 2000 and I was pregnant in December 2000. I recommend this book to all of my friends. It is a wonderful source of information.

Summary: An invaluable resource!!!
Review: When my husband and I decided it was time to conceive, I didn't want to waste several months trying; an average couple has only a 25% chance of conceiving any given cycle. I bought the book a few months before we were going to start trying, after reading great things about it. It worked---I went off the pill; we used a condom for one month while I let my system clear out the pill's hormones, and during this time I charted, just to get practice. The next month we used no protection, and I knew, thanks to this method, when I was most fertile. We got pregnant that month---you can determine conception down to the day. Now our baby girl is 3 months old!! I'll be using this book as a reference for a long time---much better than being on the pill, if you're not trying to conceive.

Summary: Like falling off a log
Review: We had been trying for a few months and then I bought this book. We got pregnant the first, FIRST, cycle I charted. Even if you aren't interested in getting pregnant, every woman should read this. You will get this feeling of "Oh, so that's what that means" after you finish and will be more in tune with what's happening in your body. Things that doctors (or even your "Dr. Mom" never properly explained. The best ... you will ever spend.
