Summary: SUCCESS !
Review: After two years of trying to get pregnant, I bought Toni's book and was pregnant 3 months later. I am now expecting a baby due at the end of this year.

This is a great book! I would recommend it to everyone serious about getting pregnant.

Summary: A must have!
Review: The definitive book for anyone trying to conceive (and then at some point NOT trying to conceive!), all naturally. Follow the recommendations and you will be thrilled. Worked for us!!

Summary: The Right Science, but the Wrong Perspective
Review: It is exciting that an apparent feminist would support the counter-cultural idea that natural family planning is just as EFFECTIVE and HEALTHIER than artificial birth control. Since most health care professionals still know little about this method, and tend to lump it in with the ineffective "rhythm method" of the past, this book might serve well in the medical community as an introduction to natural family planning. However, the downfall of the book is that it still clings to the idea of the "birth control culture" that fertility is something to be CONTROLLED. This "take control" perspective will not likely appeal to couples who would like to practice natural family planning for religious or moral reasons; such couples will find much better guidance in "The Art of Natural Family Planning" by John and Sheila K. Kippley; here they will get all of the same scientific methodology without the feminist rhetoric.

Summary: Great method of natural birth control and getting pregnant
Review: I first purchased this book over a year and a half ago when I wanted to learn natural methods of birth control. My husband and I successfully used FAM until we were ready to start a family and on our first try succeeded in getting pregnant. This book is not only an excellent guide but you will find yourself
repeatedly referring to it as a reference. I believe this information should be taught to every young woman. You will never think of your body in the same way again.

Summary: What we got out of reading this book...a daughter
Review: I read and re-read this easy-to-understand book before we started planning our family. This was a comprehensive manual that accounted for numerous individual differences among a generally healthy population of women, a helpful resource when you are swearing that will not be able to conceive a child because you are somehow different or unlucky. Our first try for a child was successful because we used this book. Our daughter will be 4 in November, a likely impossible event without Toni Weschler.

Summary: NOW I know!!!
Review: After 6 months of trying to get pregnant, without the slightest nibble, I wanted to find a way of KNOWING when my best chances for conception was. I heard about this book from a message board on the internet and bought it right away. BEST money I've ever spent!!!

EVERYTHING was made clear! Cervical mucus as a means for predicting fertility .. basal body temperature .. luteal phase. Now I KNEW what to look for to maximize my chances of getting pregnant! TWO months after I had bought the book, and applied the principles from it, I was PREGNANT!! This book is now my fertility bible!

Summary: Very informative.
Review: I'd recommend this book to any woman who is trying to get pregnant, trying not to get pregnant, or who just wants to understand how her body works.

The only thing that annoyed me about this book is the presumption that if you just pay attention to your cycle and time everything right, you'll get pregnant. As a woman who struggled with infertility for five years before finally becoming pregnany with in vitro fertilization, I can safely say that timing isn't everything.

Summary: Very informative
Review: This book taught me things I never even knew about my body -- like about how the quality of a woman's cervical mucus can be used to predict her most fertile days. This is truly a life-changing book. The only topic it doesn't address in great detail is preconception health planning (how to ensure the healthiest possible conception by making sure that both partners are in the best possible health). If you're using this book to plan (rather than avoid) a pregnancy, you'll also want to pick up a copy of The Mother of All Pregnancy Books by Ann Douglas or The Unofficial Guide ot Having a Baby by Ann Douglas and John R. Sussman, MD -- two excellent guides to conception, pregnancy, and birth.

Summary: This book is awesome
Review: It tells you so much that you won't be able to believe you didn't know. I was totally ignorant about my body, the Pill, etc. before I read this. Charting and FAM can help you get pregnant, not get pregnant, or identify problems if you're not getting pregnant and you'd like to. Some reviewers said it's not useful unless you have normal cycles--actually it is MORE useful if you don't have normal cycles--that way you know what is going on! I have long, irregular cycles and I would never know what is going on if I didn't chart. It puts you in charge. I think if you're female, you should read this! (And it wouldn't be a bad idea for men either).

Summary: A great place to start educating yourself about "infertility
Review: After 2 years of trying to get pregnant, my OB prescribed Clomid and told me "it would help me to ovulate" - that's it. No warnings that it was a fertility drug and no warnings about side effects. I was a bit naive and followed the Doctor's orders without question. To make a long story short, my doctor and I parted ways and I began to educate myself. I read a number of books on the subject of pregnancy achievement and infertility. This is by far the best book to start with. It will teach you about the reproductive cycle and show you how to chart your cycle. By charting, you can identify when your most fertile time is and you may be able to detect if things are amiss and you need to seek treatment. I was able to determine that I am just VERY irregular. After I knew what to look for, I was able to conceive in just 3 months! I recently had my second child which I charted for and conceived quickly again. I can't recommend this book enough!!!! You owe it to yourself to read this before you agree to fertility drugs and testing. You may not need them. If you do, you will be all the wiser.
