Summary: Read this Book First and Then Read...
Review: This is the second review I have written singing the praises of this book. The first review was written after I achieved pregnancy after 3 months of using the Fertility Awareness Method. Prior to using FAM I tried unsuccessfully to get pregnant for a year. Now that my daughter is fully weaned my cycles are back to "normal," I have found that FAM is an excellent way to avoid pregnancy too!

Next Book you Should Read:
If you like the way information is presented in this book, and you recognize that you could never get the same knowledge from your 15 minute visits with your OB/GYN, I have another book recommendation for you: "What your Doctor May Not Tell you About Children's Vaccinations," by Stephanie Cave, MD, FAAFP. This is must read material for all parents given that vaccinations are mandated by law and given that there is currently a great deal of research being conducted about the safety of vaccines. As a mom whose infant daughter had an adverse reaction to her routine 4-month shots, I highly recommend this book!

Summary: A reference guide every woman should have
Review: I have recommended this book to several friends, all whom have reported it as one of the best books they have in their libraries. Whether or not you are trying to get pregnant or avoiding, this book tells you what to look for and how to do it. It also offers many examples and photos, which might leave you saying "I had no idea!" I had read the Billings Method (similar to FAM but more like rhythm) and didn't really "get" it until this book. You should also try to find the BD digital basal thermometer (appx. [$$$] US) that Toni is also associated with. Mine came w/ a mini CD ROM w/ a demo of Toni's Ovusoft software for charting, which I find to be very helpful.

Summary: EVERYTHING you never knew about your body!
Review: This book is amazing! The things I found out about my body that I never knew were so very helpful. I have been following the book for 2 months now in trying to achieve pregnancy and I can't believe how wrong I was about my ovulation times before! This book has so much great information and in a format that is read with ease.

Summary: FULL of Information
Review: I got this book because I wanted to learn how to avoid a pregnancy because I felt the birth control pill were poison to my system. If you didn't know much about yout body or even if you THOUGHT (key word here) you did will after reading this book. I loaned it to my sister who wanted to conceive and she's pregnant!

It's an easy read and it has PICTURES! You'll feel more in control of your body.

Summary: Wish I could give it 100 stars!
Review: I wish I could give this book a 100+ stars instead of only 5! I bought this book about 3 years ago and have since recommended it to many other 30-something friends. To put it simply, don't waste your money on any other fertility book. If you are in your 30's, you also don't have TIME to waste. This book tells you everything your doctor does not have time to tell you during a standard 15 minute office visit. In short, I bought a lot of books while trying to get pregnant and this is the only one that really explained what I NEEDED to know. While there is no sure way to guarantee a pregnancy, there are definite biological facts you NEED to know if you want to give your body it's best chance. I look at my 3 month old daughter, who took so long to conceive, and I thank my lucky stars that I found this book!

Summary: A MUST READ!
Review: This book is informative and well-written. I think of it as my fertility bible. Although I felt I had a good understanding of my body and menstrual cycle, Weschler showed me how little most women really understand about their bodies. Whether you are trying to conceive or to prevent conception, you should read this book. Weschler shows you how to monitor and read your body's natural signals and how to use these signals to best time intercourse. Even if you are not sexually active, I urge you to read this and understand what is happening in your body throughout your monthly cycle. An empowering read!

Summary: I got pregnant within two months using this book as a guide
Review: After suffering a miscarriage, I was desperate for information on how to moniter my cycle and be able to concieve hopefully naturally. This book did it for me! I read it and it helped me to pinpoint the signs of ovulation, etc..that i had overlooked before. I was able to get pregnant the second month of trying after reading this book! Great advice on natural birth control as well!

Summary: Amazing method of birth control!
Review: This book has been such an amazing resource to me - every woman should read this book just to understand the workings of her own body. I have been successfully using this as a birth control method for over a year, and I love the fact that I know exactly what is happening in my body. Even during a period of time when I abstained from sex, I continued to chart - just to be aware of my cycle. As a form of birth control, this is more time consuming than the Pill, and certainly doesn't protect from STIs, but is well worth the effort (and gives peace-of-mind about pregnancy when combined with condom use!).
I have never felt so empowered as I do now - I do not have to give any more money to pharmaceutical companies; I don't have the libido-decreasing, depression-increasing side effects of the Pill.

In sum, buy this book!! I guarantee you'll learn a lot!

Summary: The best fertility book out there!
Review: With this book you can, for sure, "Take charge of your fertility". This book was recommended by several preconception websites I visited, and after reading it I have to agree this book is just fabulous.
It is usefull for those who want a baby or those who want to avoid pregnancy. It explains the woman's anatomy, the menstrual cycle, and especially the ovulation process( and how to detect it!).It has a fertility chart that can also be downloaded from the author's website, and the book explains in details how to fill out this chart. The book even contains several important(and colored) pictures that help woman detect their most fertile days, and therefore how to achieve or prevent pregnancy.
It is a must have for those who are planning on having a baby and want to understand better the amazing pregnancy achievement process; or those who want a natural family planning, with no side effects.
It is very well written and easy to read and understand. I would recommend it to every woman, because after reading this book you cannot help but be amazed with what actually happen in our menstrual cycle every month.
Good luck,
Ana

Summary: Excellent, excellent, excellent
Review: I consider myself to be a reasonably intelligent, college-educated woman with a pretty darn firm grasp on How Babies Are Made, so when my husband and I decided to start a family, I thought it would be as easy as tossing the birth control pills aside and Let The Fun Begin! After almost a year with NO baby, followed by a miscarriage, I was starting to question my fertility. (After all, how hard can this be?) I went to the OBGYN, who immediately recommended Clomid and sex on the 14th day of my "cycle." I wasn't comfortable with the fertility pill concept, and saw a recommendation for this book instead. So, I picked it up.

WOW! Why don't they teach THIS in Sex Ed?? I wish I'd known this stuff when I was 13! I sure knew the mechanics of sex, alright, but not the mechanics of my own body. I was amazed at what I didn't know; while I had observed the various signs that are talked about, I didn't have the slightest clue what they meant. They never worried me, but they never gave me any insight, either. I started charting, figured out what day of the cycle I REALLY ovulated, and on the third try -SURPRISE!- we were pregnant! While the OB said to try on day 14, we REALLY needed to try on day 19. Sperm only live for 5 days max, so we would have missed our window of opportunity every time. :(

I have recommended this book to complete strangers whose friends were "trying to get pregnant," and lent it to my best friend when she mentioned going off the pill. She's due in December!

Now that my cycle is back, I've reclaimed the book back again to avoid another baby until we're ready. We're still breastfeeding, and using this as a birth control method doesn't come with the risk of drying up my milk supply. (I know, Micronor (mini-pill) is breastfeeding-friendly, but I don't think I'm ready for that yet.)

I am SO pleased with this book and the knowledge I gained from it; I can't believe I didn't know all this before my mid-twenties!
