Rating: Summary: A Wonderful Book Review: People who live their lives effectively are those who are focused and this book tells you how to focus your life. It is all inclusive in that it includes social, spiritual, and family aspects in addition to work. Covey says he became interested in how perceptions influenced the actions of people. The seven habits grows out of this internal worldview, i.e., that people act based on what they think. Habits are powerful forces. Some are by default, but this book instructs readers in how to control the habits that will determine their destines. Developing relationships with other people is a vital issue he addresses in this discussion. He talks about gaining personal, private victory before one advances to public, recognizable accomplishment. There is a lot of solid, insightful, practical wisdom in this well-written book. I highly recommend it as it will improve your thought life and help you to focus on doing things based on significance, not just arbitrarily exist.
Rating: Summary: One big lie Review: I think most of us know, deep down, that this book is nothing but an illusory quick-fix for the deep-set evils that lurk unconfronted in the recesses of our tormented psyches, plaguing us with nightmares and self-hatred through all the days of our miserable little lives.Still, though, I really liked it.
Rating: Summary: Habits that make us effective Review: The best part of this book for me was the first section which guides the reader from dependence to independence. I was always pro-active, but didn't always begin with the end in mind. Now I do and I have mastered personal leadership. Dr. Covey has make a tremendous impact in my life. He recommended my favorite book, Optimal Thinking: How To Be Your Best Self which turned my life around. I use Optimal Thinking to deal with all my negative feelings, to make my decisions and to make the most of every situation. I also love another book he recommended called Crucial Conversations, which helps me to be optimally effective when conversations are difficult. I recommend all of these books.
