Summary: Good insight for those who believe character is important
Review: Very few books have had an effect on me as much as this book. I've read it twice and sent one to a friend. If you don't believe that a strong moral character is the foundation for a fulfilling life, you most likely will after reading this.

Summary: The Book That Makes a Difference
Review: This book made a big difference in my life since it challenged me to change the way I thought professionally and emotionally. After reading the book, my relationships with my workers had changed for the better (I reduced turnover in my business dramatically and fostered an incredible team spirit within each of my employees) and I also ended a marriage with a woman who constantly dragged me down instead of lifting me upward. My life is now on track because of this book.

The book also gives you tools (lists, diagrams, and organizer inserts) that aid you in becoming more highly effective. Stephen R. Covey provides deeply personal examples of his effective growth change. The book is inspiring. Everyone else on this site who has given a bad review of this book must not know effectiveness from a hole in the ground and must not have read the book all the way through practicing the end-of-the-chapter "exercises".

Summary: 7 Habits Website
Review: Attempting to understand and work with this book, I created a home page which summerizes and provides further examples of its points. Check out the page if you like at: http://userpage.fu-berlin.de/~tanguay/7habits.htm

Summary: Correct principles are the bedrock of all success
Review: Stephen Covey provides a manner in which a person can seek to live a rich, rewarding life on the strength of correct principles. It is not easy to read and follow this book -- changing ourselves is painful. But the end result is happiness and real inner peace that comes from knowing that you are living a life congruent with unchanging, correct principles.

Summary: Inter-dependent as the launching base
Review: What an insighful book ! Do not miss the opportunity for a major step-up in your life. The distinctions and the insights revealed in this extraordinary book must be tought from the age of 6 in order for us to create a better world ! I also urge you to look for my review on "Corporate Mystic" and "The Fifth Discipline". Ronen Ben-Naphtali, Israe

Summary: Steven Covey is my Idol!
Review: I bought this Audio book to help me succeed at work and found it incredibley useful in EVERY aspect of my life. I have since bought everything I can get my hands on that he has published. I am partial to the audio versions as I drive a lot and find his delivery entertaining & inspiring. I often find myself quoting him to friends, family, and associates. My husband's employer sent him to a "7 Habits" seminar, and now he has listened to all the Covey books on tape as well. I can't imagine anyone not finding immense value in this book. If you read nothing else intended for self improvement READ THIS BOOK

Summary: One of the best.
Review: This is a great book. It is about principles that make sense to most intellegent people. It refers to ideas that everybody already know but keep forgeting. It is just about logic principles, and it gives easy to understand examples to apply those principles to real life for good. It is worth buying

Summary: Highly influential book on character building
Review:

This book can be considered as one of the most influential books on character building, personal mission, effectiveness and leadership. I keep referring to this book often.

Let me go through what I learnt in this book and it will be clear as to why this can be a life changing book.

In Habit 1 ( Be Proactive ), I learnt that being proactive means being responsible to our lives. In a reactive model, we are conditioned to respond in a particular way to a particular stimulus. In contrast, proactive model states that between stimulus and response, lies our freedom to choose the response.

Habit 2 (Begin with the end in mind) is based on the principle that all things are created twice. There's a mental or first creation, and a physical or second creation. The second creation follows from the first, just as a building follows from a blueprint. In our personal lives, if we do not develop our own self-awareness and become responsible for the first creation, we empower other people and circumstances to shape our lives by default.

In Habit 3 (First Things First), I learnt that all our activities can be divided into four quadrants

Quadrant 1 : Activities that are Important and Urgent

Quadrant 2 : Activities that are Important but Not Urgent

Quadrant 3 : Activities that are Urgent but Not Important

Quadrant 4 : Activities that are Not Urgent and Not Important

The ideal to work toward is increasing your time spent in Quadrant II.

In Habit 5 (Think Win-Win), I learnt that most of us base our self-worth on comparisons and competition. We think about succeeding in terms of someone else failing. That is, if I win, you lose. Or if you win, I lose. Life is a zero-sum game. There is only so much pie, and if you get a big piece, there is less for me. People with this type of Scarcity Mentality find it difficult to share recognition and power, and to be happy for the successes of others, especially those closest to them.

Win-win on the other hand, is based on the paradigm that there is plenty for everybody, that one person's success is not achieved at the expense or exclusion of the success of others. Win-win means that agreements or solutions are mutually beneficial and satisfying.

Habit 5 says 'Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood'. A wise doctor will diagnose before writing a prescription. A good engineer will understand the forces, the stresses at work, before designing the bridge. An effective sales person first seeks to understand the needs of the customer before offering a product. Similarly, an effective communicator will first seek to understand another person's view before seeking to be understood. Until people feel properly diagnosed they will not be open to prescriptions.

In Habit 6 (Synergize), I learnt that 'The Whole is greater than the sum of its parts'. One plus one equals three or more. Two people, creatively cooperating will be able to produce far better results than either one could alone.

Habit 7 (Sharpen the Saw) surrounds the other habits because it is the habit that makes all other habits possible. Sharpen the saw means preserving and enhancing the greatest asset you have - you. It means having a balanced, systematic program for the four areas of our lives; physical, social/emotional, mental, and spiritual.

While the book has a price tag, what we learn from this book cannot be valued.

Summary: Read it so you'll know what everyone is talking about.
Review: I don't know if Covey invented the word proactive, but it and other business buzz words are explained in this book. If you are into self-help, you'll enjoy the warm manner that the book is written along with the Carnegie-like anecdotes. The book provides a system to prioritize and organize your personal and business life based on your principles. Keep the book for future reference like a text book if you are serious about applying it to your life; otherwise, get what you can out of it and share it with a fellow employee

Summary: Excelente guia para toda la vida
Review: Este libro nunca se termina de leer, es una constante guia en el desarrollo de nuestras vidas, aporta conceptos que realmente cambian y proyectan nuestras vidas
