Rating: Summary: Read This Review: I read this at the suggestion of my girlfriend, initialy I was very sceptical becasue I thought it would be a squishy self help book, it is absolutely not. This is a great read for anyone who wants to be more effective, powerful, or successful. I highly recommend this, I am a pretty hard driving business person, and this is on my top 10 books of all time.
Rating: Summary: This book changed my life...... Review: I was reading a Dale Carnegie book at jury duty 10 years ago when a fellow juror told me he had also read the book I was reading. He then said he had read pretty much every book out on personal growth and that hands down the very best one in his opinion is the 7 habits. This guy just lit up as he started talking about how much it had changed his life, so on the way home I bought it for myself and started reading it that night. I could not put it down. It rang of so much wisdom. The thing that I love about the 7 habits is that it is a systematic, wholistic, and step by step approach. If you follow the 7 habits you will figure out what your true mission in life is and also have a framework to achieve it. It touches on everything that is important Family, Friends, Health, etc. Like the guy at Jury duty told me, I am telling you. This is the best book ever written on the subject.
Rating: Summary: Loved this book! Review: While conducting research for my own book, "Never Be Late Again, 7 Cures for the Punctually Challenged," I came across Covey's book. The principles contained here are timeless, invaluable, and insightful. The concept of learning to be proactive, rather than reactive is one that not only spells success in business, but positively affects every area of one's life - from raising children to finding your life's mission. The emphasis on living with fairness, integrity, and honesty is wonderful. I can't recommend this book enough!
Rating: Summary: Covey's the best! Review: If ever there were a bible for time management - in life and business, this is it. Covey is the master of making a simple subject complicated, but then by uncomplicating it, making it simple again. This book will teach you how to make the most out of your business and your life. As the owner of sales training company, who teaches time management, I especially like the "four quadrants" theory that talks about the importance of learning, growing and prioritizing. 5 stars all the way! Todd Natenberg, Author of the book, "I just got a job in sales. Now what?" A Playbook for Skyrocketing Your Commissions
Rating: Summary: A book club pick Review: Our book club is an eclectic bunch, choosing reads from every genre (highly unusual, if you ask me). But the results are always worthwhile. From McCrae's "Bark of the Dogwood" to "The South Beach diet," back to "The Life of Pi" and on to this book, well, we're basically all over the place. But that said, all the books are great, and in the case of SEVEN HABITS we got a chance to really go over the material and see how each of us had put the book into practice. Trust me, if your club is only reading fiction, you're missing something, because we thoroughly enjoyed this one. Very practical, very easy to read, and most importantly, VERY useful, I (we) can't push this book enough. Please do yourselves (and everyone around you) a favor and read this little gem.
Rating: Summary: Extreme Helpful Review: I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in being productive and happy. The book teaches many things. Here are some things that the book teaches: define yourself by a mission statement that incorporates your identified roles in life; the key is not to prioritize what's on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities; don't be emotionally centered on anyone or anything other than your deepest-held principles; there is no quick fix to relationships but instead relationships can be looked at as emotional bank accounts that you always have to fill by kindnesses and thoughtfulness over a period of time; don't make even 'arms length' deals without meeting the other side's objectives; schedule your tasks weekly and monthly, rather than only daily; don't blame others for your circumstances; to change the things you cannot change, focus only on the things you can change; and dozens more. This book is really fantastic, and I have found almost everything in my life improve significantly since I started applying this book three months ago. I also recommend the audiotapes, because the material needs to be got at from different angles and really absorbed over a period of months. The Covey calendar system is essential to applying the book.
Rating: Summary: Sensible strategies for success Review: This is a personal development book that goes beyond 'rah rah' positive thinking hype. Dr. Covey begins with the premise that we must take personal responsibility in order to be effective. He takes the reader from a dependent victim perspective to a place of personal power by first accepting personal responsibility, then defining your direction and then managing your path. Once you have done this, he believes you are ready for interdependent rather than codependent relationships with others. This book makes sense and is easy to read. I have recommended it to many people and they have not been disappointed. Another book worth mentioning is Optimal Thinking-How To Be Your Best Self which Dr. Covey describes as " A superb treatment of the idea of Personal Best." If you want to optimize your life and career, Optimal Thinking is the optimal vehicle.
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: I have read this book, and let me say it has changed my way of thinking. I now believe after reading this book, I can handle almost any situation. This book helps you manage your life from a different perspective, such as looking at the problem instead of the symptoms. Great book, must buy, it will change your way of thinking.
Rating: Summary: Love the cd's Review: I get so much value from listening to audio programs like this one. We spend so much time in our cars traveling, why not make the most of that time with quality audio programs like 7 Habits. I also recommend Super Self on audio as well which was the last recording by the late, great Charles Givens and offers powerful life changing material.
Rating: Summary: Classic Review: This is a classic book on making the grade while keeping the moral high ground. I also recommend, The Little Guide To Happiness. Both good reads.
