Rating: Summary: A Real Shift Review: I don't think I will ever forget this book...I will never lend it to someone else...I want this book to be will me forever... It is a book that will change the way you see yourself and others...the way you understand yourself and others... Mr.Covy filled the book with newly articulated ideas- becuase everybody knows them, but we can't express them in words, never the less he was able to explain them and go deep in them... The book teaches you to take control of your life and to do the right thing...truely from the inside..I would recommend it for student, parents, executives...and anyone else who feel unjust towards his life... Read it and thank Mr.Covy and right priciples...
Rating: Summary: sure it may be Review: Sure some people speak on about it being all common sense. And sure people can say that it repetitive. But the fact is, if its such common sense why do most people not follow the advise? The truth is something only becomes common sense through repetition. And the more something is repeated the more likely it will influence the subconscious. So of course the book is common sense and redundant for it has to be for people to be influenced by it. I personally liked the book and I hope others do too. If not, I hope some other book out there can tell you what you want to hear.
Rating: Summary: My opinion of this book. Review: I decided to read 7 habits after being introduced to the concepts in a career planning course. Basically I will tell anyone who buys this book you are wasting your money... Why you ask? Very simply put- you can figure the concepts out on your own or just browse through the book and see that it is all common sense. My #1 disagreement with the author is the whole concept of cooperation in the workplace, etc.. That is great if you live in a fantasy world, but most likely you won't see it as reality...7 habits is a great conversation piece and will serve as a great coffee cup coaster... If this book works for you, more power to you.
Rating: Summary: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Review: If you have ever felt lost in the journey of life, you should turn to this book. This book will guide you back onto a path of your choice that would lead to success and happiness for life. Note that the book will not give you the path. But it will help you to choose the correct path for your life. This is an essential reading for anyone who wants to be "effective" in life.
Rating: Summary: Seek first to understand Review: In spite of wide acceptance as one of the best books ever written about how to improve the quality of life through developing habits that promote more effective interpersonal interactions, there do seem to be some reviewers who just don't get it! What I have noticed about the unfavorable reviews is that they tend to lack both substance and focus. If someone disagrees with something Covey has written, their disagreement would be significantly more meritorious if they would explain why they disagree instead of simply name calling. On the other hand, the type of poor communication exemplified by the name callers, certainly serves to validate the need for what Covey has to say. My experience has been that the Seven Habits really work. This book is required reading in a number of university courses and I continue to give copies of it to people whom I believe would profit from reading it. I sincerely believe that Covey's Seven Habits have significantly improved the lives of countless people and I applaud both his dedication to that end and his skill in communicating the very important things he has to say.
Rating: Summary: Self-Help for Dummies Review: I'm ordinarily wary of books like this that promise to transform your life within the span of 300 pages, but I figured 10 million readers (as the cover states) can't be wrong. I pray I'm never trapped in an elevator with any of them. After trudging through Covey's scary, cultish gobblygook, I have to wonder, "Are people so desperate for guidance that they actually believe this garbage." The book is about as insightful as my dog and about as deep as an episode of Jenny Jones. When a follower complains to Covey that his marriage is over, Covey recommends (over and over) that the man "love her." Wow, why didn't I think of that. Ever see "Being There", with Peter Sellers? I'm betting Covey and Sellers have a lot in common.
Rating: Summary: A Ultimate source for people who enjoy reading B.S. Review: The author of the book is undoubtedly a great story taller, his ability to make some basic common senses in to a 300+ page big book is outstanding. However, most of the stuff in his book are pointless garbage, full of BS. A excellent reference book for BS person. You can talk about personal change all day long and all night long but you will never get anyting if your don't act. Don't waste you time reading this book, keep you mind open and your hand working, live by your common senses ultimately you will be a highly effective people. Believe me!
Rating: Summary: "Any one can change" says Covey. I could change Review: I started reading this book three years ago and ever since it has been next to my bed, like a bible. I always believe that books and casettes are my best friends. That way, I read this book whenever I feel like and often. I try to discuss what I read with others as Covey says and understand better. The book changed me from an egoistic guy to a normal person after reading 'Think Win-Win'. It made me live better and focussed after reading 'Begin with the end in mind'. It made me to differentiate Important things to Urgent things after reading 'First things First'. (I bought that book too to understand the habit better) Every habit affected (and affecting me) my life and I would recommend anyone who is interested in chaging themselves to buy this book. You live only once and so live better. This book is not a just another book to give a casual read - but to study, to understand and to live better.
Rating: Summary: How can such a great book be so bad on audio Review: Read this book, it is great. But do not buy the audio version. Between the trite church-like music and the gushing adoration of the narrarator to Mr Covey, this CD is unlistenable.
Rating: Summary: Patronising drivel Review: What can I say about this book that has not already been vociferouslysaid? Pure and utter drivel, insincere, self-satisfied, uselessdrivel. ( ) END
