Summary: A Bourbon Street Hopper
Review: I don't think I've ever experienced anything quite like the bars in New Orleans! They are fantastic! The press has given Bourbon St. such a negative view, but I had no trouble the two times I went down by myself! I mean if you use a little common sense, then there's no problem! The people were some of the nicest I've ever met! Everyone treats you like family and you have such a great time! This book shows that down-home, friendly atmosphere! It was interesting for me too, to see a lot of the places off of Bourbon that I didn't get to see! You know, the 5 star places that cost an arm and a leg, and require reservations! This is just another great book to relive memories of your trip to "Sin City."

Summary: Fantastic and beautiful.
Review: I had the honor of walking around with Kerri on Sunday November 30th in New Orleans at the bars she highlights in the book. Her stories are well researched, well written and the photos capture the ambiance of the bars perfectly. This book is a great coffee table book and the recipes make for great cocktails at any party. Also, Absinth has just started to be sold in the UK, so take the book abroad and enjoy! Thanks Kerri, for a great book and a fabulous tour.

Review: If ever a book could make me homesick, then this is it. I love it

Summary: It is wonderful!
Review: It is a wonderful book, with absolutely magnificent photos!! I recommend it for any coffee table. The author, Kerri McCaffety, (not Kevin McCafferty!), can see amazing things through her camera lens and the writing is just supperb! Congratulations Kerri on a great book.

Summary: The Spirit of New Orleans
Review: Ms. McCaffety has captured the essence of New Orleans with her wonderful book. The pictures are gorgeous, and the addition of a few traditional New Orleans cocktail recipes and the history of the saloons rounds out the book nicely. I can't wait to get back to New Orleans and visit the bars I've missed.

Summary: Great idea but Half Baked Execution.
Review: New Orleans is a city well known for it's no holds barred atmosphere of partying and places to party. The idea for this book is great but the execution, i.e., photographs run in quality from good to aweful is off putting especially if one has visited many of these establishments. I only wonder what this book could have been had the photographs been made by a more competent architectural/documentary photographer. With that said, if you need a coffee table book which will remind you of New Orleans' famous watering holes, well I guess this is it!

Summary: Ahem
Review: Some of the history in this book is correct, but it's mixedwith a lot of dubious legends and a lot of outright inaccuracies. Also, I would not recommend this book as a bar-hopping guide for tourists ... the author leaves the reader with absolutely no indication of which bars are in safe neighborhoods, or how expensive some of them are. This book has some nice photographs, especially of some nice neon signs, and some of the write-ups are legit, but on almost every page there is something to make a New Orleanian cringe, like when it calls the steamboat Natchez "luxurious". All in all, this book is a gyp.

Summary: The photos are nice but ...
Review: The photos are nice but the book does not capture the essence of the bars presented. For the most part they are taken during the day when no one is around. I mean, you wouldn't photograph DisneyWorld when it was void of all activity, would you?

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent -- a must for any New Orleans saloon traveller
Review: This book takes you through many of the most popular/non-popular bars in New Orleans. The range is from high-end to dives and all are done with attention to detail. If you've ever been there this will take you back through them all!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Wow!
Review: What a book. The pictures are absolutly incredible and the stories match the color of the pictures. The timeless nature of the book makes it worth having. Everyone I've spoken to in New Orleans loves this book. WOW!
