Rating: Summary: Business as a Poker Game Review: An interesting and fun read, replete with some key business (and poker-playing) lessons. The author tells in the introduction that "poker teaches you that following the laws of human nature can lead to poor decision making." Indeed, this book helps you apply the rules of poker to your business in order to counter the normal urges of human nature. When should you divulge information, whether to play the "good cop" or "bad cop" in a negotiation, how to arrive at a win-win deal with your business partner. All of these questions can be answered, quite creatively, by lookly deeply into the game of high-stakes poker.

Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: As a poker player and businessman, I found this book to be both extremely enjoyable and useful. The analogies are terrific, and the lessons to be learned are money. I plan on buying copies for my managers. I have often believed that many of the skills I use in poker are useful in business; this book confirms it! A must read!
Rating: Summary: The Concept Does Not Work Review: As a professional poker player, I can say with absolute clearness that this book is worthless, dumb and simply does not work. Poker is a game of skill and talent and really can't be taught by a book like this. Poker players play--not read!! Furthermore, to apply poker to business when the first part is all about skills and talent is just silly. The book does not work and business is more about chess than poker anyway. Checkmate!
Rating: Summary: Universal skills for business success! Review: As an executive at a major investment firm, I use skills and concepts from game theory every day. Poker strategy and business strategy go hand-in-hand as this book explains in a fun, easy-to-apply framework using examples from Fortune 500 companies to startup businesses. You don't need to be a professional poker player to enjoy and learn from this book. The lessons passed along are concise and applicable to all aspects of business. To the reviewer below, this book does NOT attempt to teach the reader how to play poker. You obviously did not read the book. Do yourself a favor: read the book, start applying the skills articulated in it, get a job and move out of your parents' basement.
Rating: Summary: GREAT! Review: As both a stockbroker and a poker player i found this book to be quite fascinating.. it does a great job of using poker philosophies in business.
Rating: Summary: The Concept Does Not Work Review: Business professionals of all types need to understand one constant in today's marketplace.....it's all about people. To effectively manage individuals and teams or lead negotiations with partners, you have to have an intuitive sense of what people are thinking, doing, sensing, ALL THE TIME.....just as Dinkin and Gitomer suggest you do in the game of poker. Although I am not a poker player, I enjoyed the poker analogies and think the authors do an excellent job of making you feel as though you are simultaneously sitting at the felt and in a conference room......learning all the time and studying people incessantly.

Rating: Summary: Dinkin does it again! Review: In Greg's book, I found one of the best books I have read that teaches true and applicable business lessons with the common theme everyone can relate to: Poker. Everything from reminding you of the basics of starting a business, to surviving the ups and downs of business, to the intense world of negotiations everything is covered. This book to me comes across as the best sales pitch: You are entertained the whole time without feeling "pitched to" and in the end you realize you read a great book and definitely improved your business knowledge!
