Rating: Summary: Ruminations:A true view of college Review: Aaron Karo did a great job in portraying the life of a college student. Any one who has been to college can relate to 99% of the things that he talks about. He takes a comical outlook on almost everything and tells it like it is. A must read selection for college students.
Rating: Summary: Funniest college book i've ever read Review: An absolutely hilarious book! Karo seems to record all the strange (and sometimes empty) thoughts going through a college kids head....with every page it was like he had been there with me through my college experiences, from freshman year roommates to senior year fun. Everyother "college" book I've read was cute and amusing but this is outright funny because it is all so true! I've ordered copys for my brother and sister so they can enjoy it during their college days!
Rating: Summary: From Email to Hard Copy, Karo Delievers Review: As a longtime subscriber to Aaron Karo's hilarious monthly newsletter, I have been waiting eagerly for this book... and as usual, Karo does not disappoint. Covering everything from the classroom to the bars to spring break, he manages to voice the inner dialogue of the average college student in a hysterical yet poignant way. This book should be required reading for every college and post-college student.
Rating: Summary: how true (and funny) it really is... Review: at the request of the man himself, i'm going to write a little review for one of the funniest and truest books i have ever read. ruminations is a basic overview for all college life, from the crazy drunken nights of underage freshman to the quasi-return to normal life with the family where the college kid has to remember who the rulemakers are (the ones who, of course, fund the "education"- or as Mr. Karo put it, the drinking habits). you will laugh out loud and you will enjoy this book. while i haven't personally joined a frat and engaged in the wild drunken behavior that runs throughout the book, i have been witness to MANY fine examples of typical college behavior- Aaron Karo tells it like it is. and parents should probably give this book a read, too, if only to look back on their own experiences with a smile. thank you Aaron Karo.
Rating: Summary: Longtime Reader Still Can't Get Enough Review: From the first issue of ruminations until present day, this reader still reads Karo's hysterical antecdotes and falls on the floor laughing. This is a must read for not only college students but for EVERYONE. It is an in-depth and hilarious look at the life of a college student, and those who are in college, have gone and are going to go will appreciate the reality that is college today. Anyone who picks up this book will find something in the book that they will easily relate to and say "that happened to me too!" or "I get the same feeling all the time!" It is a book you can read over and over again (I have) and find something new each time. It will help you remember and re-live your college years. A must buy, and something you will read again and again and again...
Rating: Summary: Buy this book!! Review: I have been receiving Ruminations on College Life for over a year now. I love to read them, mostly because I was going through the same experiences as Aaron was. ... I wish I would have had this as a freshman. If you are not in college, you probably think that college kids are crazy drunken party freaks who occasionally go to class. You would be mostly correct, but that's what college is for, and I am glad that someone finally put it into words. Finally, someone who is actually in college is writing this stuff, rather than some forty year old coming up with some guide to college life. This is the stuff that actually happens, and this book is not afraid to talk about it. ...
Rating: Summary: good read, but the e-mail version was better Review: I love Ruminations. I still have some of the original e-mail versions I got, and they're still insanely funny. I think they are funnier than the book, as some of them have been changed to be less offensive, but it's great that they got published at all. I love the fact that a kid with the talent to show the humorous side of college in such a witty manner could get this kind of recognition. This is a great read for any college student, pre, post, or otherwise. It's a great representation of what college is really about. Way to go Karo!!
Rating: Summary: Geez ...... Review: I really do enjoy reading books about life in college, but to tell you the truth...this one is horrible. Karo has no idea what a real college experience is like. To be honest, I think he stayed in his dorm room the whole time and based his opinions on what he's "heard" about college life. If you want to read something that will really make you laugh and remember all your favorite college experiences, read Steve Hofstetter's "Student Body Shots" instead. Now THAT is a great book. If you don't laugh from start to finish, you've probably got a sense of humor like Karo, i.e. NONE.
