Summary: its the truth
Review: all i really can say about this book is after reading it my life has since changed i feel a review should be as good or better than a book and i just can't put it into words how good this book is if you like urban literature start with this book thank you upski

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A great collection of essays and passages about Hip-Hop.
Review: Bomb the Suburbs is a great step in Hip-Hop books. It may be the best book ever written on Hip-Hop. Due to the books primary focus on graffiti you learn more about a part of Hip-Hop that isn't to popular in the modern day. I recommend this book to anyone who's involved in Hip-Hop or wants to know more about it.

Summary: This book's great.
Review: Everyone I know was saying "read it read it read it, it's a great book, you'll love it" and I bought it and I'll be damned if they were right. This book is an awesome introduction into hip-hop, DIY culture, and just plain old self-awareness. Upski has written a book that will inspire you, no matter who you are, and it's definitely worth picking up. I wish he would come back to DC!

Review: I am not especially into hip hop, but read the book after meeting the (very cool) author at a camp I went to. I enjoyed it thoroughly and learned a lot in the process. It's short, entertaining, mind-expanding, and I highly recomend it to any and everyone. But don't take my word for it, go read it yourself. :)

Summary: word upski...what else is there to say
Review: i bought this book knowning about hip-hop very intensly (not to be confused with rap, kid). after reading this book i got an old schoolers take upon hip-hop today and what it was like back in the day. this dude is right, at least on most things. he is right that hip-hop isn't what it should be. he is right that now adays hip-hop has become a "money cash, hoes" complex, whereas it use to be about the "renagades of funk". he also is right about how hip-hop now is only MCing, whe that is only 1/4 of what it really is. the other three aspects, graffing, breakin' and beat boxing are gone. as sad as this is, its true. and who is to blame for this, you, all the Ja fans out there. so cop it, and stop it.

Summary: For hip-hop lovers and those whites caught in between worlds
Review: I truly appreciated how Upski spoke about race, how honest, complex and nonpatronizing - this book was truly refreshing and I would say a must-read for anyone interested in American ethnic studies in general!! I am so glad I decided to get this book, even though I can't do grafitti for sh*t (the book is so much more than describing various grafitti ettiquette, attitudes and opinions!!). Don't let the title trick you - it's all about the races, and this guy is truly a gifted race writer, especially when tackling the touchy issue of whites who don't necessarily identify positively with the white culture(s).

Review: If the cheesy graf styled font isn't enough to put you off, the title should. Guaranteed to appeal to LimpBizkit fans and Ecko/Fubu wearing white kids with no idea how this works. "Yeeeeah rad dude".
