Summary: An excellent and useful book for the beginner.
Review: As a novice in the field of sound reinforcement, I found this book invaluable. It clearly explained the how and why of working with audio equipment, discussed the mysteries of studio equipment specifications, and worked through sample installations and the pros and cons of equipment types. Each chapter held new and useful information, from discussions of the different types of "db"s to the delightful chapter on how to select and solder audio cables. I can't recommend this book too highly.

Review: I used to work on small set of equipment for a local church (1500 people). I currently record at home.
I'm just an amature.
Anyway this book seems to be the best reference out there for beginners.
It has lot of details and some theory that will help you understand how a sound system works.
This book is a must for any one serious about doing there job. Amateur or Pro wanna be.

Review: I'm a student engineering and interested in sound engineering. I got the book from a friend. This book is very good for practical understanding. Sometimes I don't find a theoretical explanation, but I don't think it is necessary because the book is a practical guideline, and thus quite good for everyone, also the engineers who know well the theory (but as we all know the theory won't always fit with the practice, especially concerning sound...). This book is 200% worth its price!!
