Summary: More like "[bad] Meal"
Review: Eric Schlosser's Fast Food Nation has given me a completely new view of the fast food industry. The book was fantastic - well written, fact filled, entertaining, and most of all, shocking. I had no idea what was going on behind the closed doors of fast food companies across the country. I was semi-vegetarian before I read this book, but now there is no doubt in my mind as to my ideas on eating meat. The book was at times almost too much to read, (and I admit I skipped over the account of a meatpacking worker getting his head jammed in a beef pulverizer) but overall, it was thought provoking and extremely interesting. I reccomend it to everyone.

Summary: A great book
Review: Fast Food Nation has some of the most fascinating facts about a mainstream industry, yet it still manages to balance information with interest. Never boring, Eric Schlosser gives an in depth look at an industry that began not too long ago and has grown to be one of the largest in the world.

Summary: A MUST FOR ALL!!!
Review: This book is a must!!! It not only discusses fast food but incorporates it into the bigger picture of society and the direction we are headed in if we continue in the self destructive
direction we are headed in (especially here in America since we are the leader of lowering quality in an atempt to higher the quantity produced and money made as a result). This book follows the fast food industry (that was once an honest, good business)into the corrupt modernizing world of mass production, consummerism. It shows us the path we are headed in, one in which we will lead to our own mass destruction as we become infested with artificial chemicals and unhealthy robotic/machine like humans who feed the system without any awareness of the truth.

This book does not advocate vegetarianism or animal rights, but mearly serves the purpose of reporting/exposing the truth to the general public. It is extremely well written, fast paced, informative and accurate, and covers everything from history to the chemical composition of certain fast food items.

We are all afected by the already large, and continuing to grow corporations that make up our daily lives and this book is a must because it relates to everyone from those that live in
the United States, to those being infested (and killed) by Fast food in other areas of the world as this style of living continues to spread.

Summary: FFN
Review: Eric Schlossers' Fast Food Nation, was one of the greatest books I have ever read. Schlosser first outlines the given topic, then puts it into real life perspecitve while managing to explain who, what, when, where, and most explicitly why and how. Reading this book made me think about labor and quality from an economic view and then again from a moral view. Fast Food Nation is organized and explained very clearly. In my personal opinion this should be mandatory school reading, and anyone who hasn't read this book yet, should at least give it a shot.

Summary: Fast Food . . . Uughh
Review: Moreso than a simply, unbiased, research-based novel, Fast Food Nation is a tremendous expose of the "dark side of the American meal." A good read for those who are brave. Schlosser wants people to change their consumer tendencies and learn about the harmful nature of fast food conglomerates that affects both one's physical and mental health.

Summary: On the second thought...
Review: I decided to read Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser to test my love for fast food. My friend had read Fast Food Nation and told me she was sure she would never eat another product from a fast food restaurant. Being a person who loves fast food so much, I was sure the book could not change my love for fast food. So, I read the book, and sure enough I think twice now before taking a bite out of my big mac or whopper. Who would have known everything that goes into making cheeseburgers? I had no idea Ronald McDonald was the second most recognizable figure in the world (Being second only to Santa Clause). I was shocked to find the percentage of Americans employed at one time or another by McDonalds. Schlosser allows the reader to see exactly what goes into the food so many Americans consume every day. Being a fast food lover, I was disappointed to know what I have been eating, but am relieved at the same time to know exactly what is in the meat and how the fast food industry has had such a great effect on American society.

Summary: Eye Opener
Review: As you read this book you suddenly realize that maybe that quick stop to Mcdonalds could possibly transformed into a maybe a little bit more expensive but possibly more carefully prepared meal. This book is a definite eye-opener and a quick interesting read filled with facts and interesting, morbid, and surprising statistics. It gives a detailed description of Southern California as the frontier for fast food starting with little hot dog and hamburger stands and even goes into detail about the meatpacking businesss. I would recommend this book to everyon and anyone who doesnt mind ahving a tainted vision of the fast food you might eat int he future.

Summary: Information that everyone should know!
Review: "Fast Food Nation" is one of the most informitive books that I have ever read. It is full of facts that are shocking, but useful to the average person who frequently enjoys a quick meal at the local fast food joint. Eric Schlosser does an amazing job of uncovering facts that reveal the truth about our food in a way that is both clear and amusing. This book should be read by all Americans who are fans of the so called "American Meal".

Summary: McInteresting Look at Fast Food
Review: I read this book knowing I was not going to learn any new and cheery anecdotes about how Ronald McDonald got his start..... instead I read this to solidify the notion that fast food was not a healthy choice. And boy, did this book give you reasons it is not, and I'm not just talking nutritional value here.

I found this book fascinating for the detail was great, well researched, and given to the reader straight. It was an eye opening book. Who knew that due to the meat industry being run just by a few corporations, essentially we are eating the same meat from the same feedlots and slaughter houses whether we buy it at a fast food chain or the local supermarket, and perhaps even the nicer restaurants. I also found some of the content appalling. Cattle are fed cats, dogs, other cows, even old newspaper! If this doesn't outrage you enough, just wait to you get to how these same meat conglomerates treat the low paid, low skilled employees of the slaughterhouses.

This book is insightful and unbelievable, and will make you question how the fast food giants sleep at night.

Summary: It Was Like A Scary Movie That Was Just Too Good!
Review: FAST FOOD NATION is a FASCINATING book about the "Dark Side" of the fast food industry; the politics, socio-economics and the slimey corporate marketing & advertising strategies of the fast food giants. THIS IS A GREAT BOOK!!! It made me hunger for more knowledge. I wanted to keep reading. I kept asking myself "What's next"?... I would stay awake at night, reading page after page late into the night. I couldn't sleep. I even read pages outloud to my husband and shocked him with the details. (He said I should be one of those professional book readers.) The suspense at times is too much to bear, but the books make you keep reading it. It Was Like A Scary Movie That Was Just Too Good! I wish I could be the seller of this book. If I become a professor, all my students would have to read it.
